Thank you for another interesting video. I am informed that Napton bottom lock is a good location for fishing for windlasses as it is the first lock that many hirers encounter.

@@StarCraftsontheCanal Ontario Canada.. Our local waterway isn't nearly as old as the British Canal system. But at 100+years old its still a solid tourist draw. The local flight lock has a 49 foot rise and can handle boats up to 150 feet long and 40 feet wide.

The CRT simply cannot cope with the running of the network.
Dredging of these drained pounds would be essential work while empty in my view
Serving two essential needs
deeper for boats and increasing the volume of water in the canal.
Utter madness they don't do it.

It does look like it's desperately in need of dredging; I wonder how many boats end up aground near the far bank? I presume it doesn't get done because a) time, b) money and c) lack of both?

It needs dredging, but wouldn’t mechanical removal risk damaging the clay lining?
