- Hey there TH-cam, and welcome back to another comic book video. This is the channel where we sit down and cover different comic book videos from Marvel, DC, and even IDW as well. We are going to jump over to Marvel Comics. This time we are going to cover Amazing Spider-Man #134-135. The reason why is because this is the book that gives us the origin of the first Tarantula. Hence I did say that this is the origin of the first Tarantula, because Marvel had made more of them. Except we are only going to focus on the first one in this video. The real problem with The story is they brought in the Punisher who was an almost instant hit and didn't let Tarantula get the spotlight before introducing the second Goblin. They dropped the ball by not giving him a slow buildup. Cramming so many things into the story ruined what could have been a great new villain. This was okay for Punisher because he was a hot new character at the time. Harry got the best spotlight because this subplot was already building for quite a while.
I'm a Tarantula fan from the moment I read that very comic. I own that comic. I have both reissues, and the original one.

The tarantula was turned into a real tarantula. He fought spiderman and willow the wisp. He jumped off a building and committed suicide
marvel never thought of the tarantula to be popular. but a way to write in the next green goblin. the character worked out fine. he was created due to political reasons behind the scenes in marvel. the character is still around but other people taking over the as the tarantula.

Same here, one of my top 3 low rent spidey villains. 3. Tarantula 2. Shocker 1.scorpion. I never got all the hype on green goblin as Spider-Man’s greatest foe or whatever….
Marvel should’ve named him Spider-Monger just like Iron Monger
The terancilla costume look a lot like an early Venom costume. With a different color theme/layout.

They should make him a villian in a future Tom Holland Spider-Man sequel and allow him to actually turn into a giant tarantula. It would be cool to see Spider-Man going to war with him, while half of New York is getting destroyed!!
Tarantula is kool, but he has no super power.
They can change him to where he somehow is injected with a super soldier serum. Maybe the Mexican cartel can somehow get their hands on the same Hydra serum that Black Widow had and inject The Tarantula with it!!
The MCU could change it to where he's injected with a super serum similar to The Hydra serum but is slowly mutating him into a giant tarantula!
