I got my first Hangzhou movement in the Cronos Pepsi GMT yesterday and I am in love with it! Also have the NH34 version of this San Martin coming and I couldn’t be more pumped! Both of these watches are my first Cronos and San Martin respectively and I’m simply in love….
The date change happens at 23:45 … Which is weird ! Someone else was complaining about this on their Aliexpress review of this watch, so it seems like it’s a general defect from San Martin.
It's a stunning watch 😍 But too expensive for me. It's 447€ here in France, thanks to TVA 😔. The NH34 is 382€, so clearly the good choice imo. But still too expensive for my wallet 😅 As usual a very complete review with a so beautiful intro 👌
The problem with any kind of mis alignment, no matter how minor, is that once you notice it, it's almost impossible to " Un-see. Great looking watch though, as usual, from San Martin. Great review as always !!
@@EscapeWheel Nothing. They wanted me to send the watch back but I have done so before and lost 3 watches which where stolen by the Chinese post I suspect. So I am not sending more watches to China. They could have given me a refund but nothing 😂
@@lassejupin6684 did you file a dispute with Ali? They may side with you for a partial refund. Gets me thinking how these are put on....I assume just press fit, wonder if a watchmaker could pop the bezel off and realign 🤔
Thanks for the review. This is on my "interested" list. I have a very nice looking GMT, the blue Vesuvuaite Volare. This "homage" is killer looking. Cheers from Atlantic Canada!!!
Keep up the great reviews my friend. Your review is spot on and I had the Tudor on order but canceled because of the concern of its thickness. Life has to be a real bummer for those that are around people that a.ways see the glass half empty......
@@sir59 NH34 would have been under $300, HZ6460 over $300. the NH34 dial lacks an index next to the date at 3 o'clock. both are great movements. the HZ6460 is ETA based and is high-beat and probably more accurate, but the NH34 will probably be the more reliable and cheaper movement to replace down the road.
Beautiful watch! I love the white face. I like the looks of a brown or distressed brown leather/suede strap however the parachute elastic straps are so incredibly comfortable so I would wear it on one of those. Grey with orange stripe looks great! Agree that San Martin makes a great oyster style bracelet. They are very comfortable.
It's never a guarantee, but there are many cases of the Seiko 4R movements (which this is based off of) lasting 10 years with no servicing. Nice thing about these movements is that they are like$40 for a replacement and about an hour of work for a watch maker to replace so total cost to replace isn't bad

By the way, that 12 in my opinion is not off, it may look a bit that way but it's because the #1 is so much thinner than the 2 in the number 12.... They balanced it right in the middle of the entire number not between the two numbers.... I think it looks great........ I just bought this watch...!...... I have a couple other San Martin's and for the money they blow me away.... Amazing that they can sell them for the price they do, considering the quality of the components.... Great review...Greg...IN
Thanks Greg! I agree. Someone said they were off, so then I looked, and looked, and looked... And you know how that goes, the more you look, the more it started to look funny....lol. but I think you are right, looks fine to me and hasn't bothered me at all.
@@EscapeWheel Thank you for the reply... I just got this watch and now I have 3 of these San Martin's and I can't get over the quality for the money...! Love this GMT and I got the NH34 movement.....! The finish on the entire watch is outstanding, great lume, excellent oyster band and (I know you know this being a knowledgeable watch guy) if this watch was Swiss made it would easily be a $750 to $ 1.000 watch... All three of the watches I purchased from them have been fantastic....! By the way I have the SN004 the homage of the Tudor Black Bay and it actually I think wears better than the real one because it is much thinner, although of course it doesn't have the movement that the Tudor does but we are also talking $230.00 vs $4K... Great video as usual... Love it and love that you do strap examples...! 5 STARS....Greg
Waiting for my Nh34 to arrive, thanks for the great review. Have the Stienhart 42mm in black so, thins will be an interesting comparison in white as the 39mm Stiehart is 25% more than the 42mm and not a good a value IMHO.
What are your thoughts on the silver vs black dial for this watch? My only other watch is a black Casioak, so I'm leaning towards the silver. However, I'm concerned if the dial color is any different on the NH34 version, as that's the one I'm looking to buy.
Dial colors should be the same between the 2 movements. Black is definitely the more versatile choice. I wouldn't worry too much about having 2 black dial watches in the collection, especially considering what your other one is (tough and rugged) this one would be a perfect every day wear watch in black. I like the silvery color, but at times I wish it was just white.
I have the NH34 (Silver) now for 2 weeks, the 12 marker on the bezel is also slightly to the left, the date is changing around 23u45 (I don't care), I have the impression that the round markers are just a few % smaller then the previous version(or the black outlines are now thicker) but maybe that's just my OCD 🙈. However, I like the dial color so much that I couldn't resist 😀 For me this watch would have been perfect when reducing the overall size by 1or 2mm ..
Agreed about the size. 38mm would have been perfect for me as well. From the images it does look like something is different about the markers, I think I like the look on the NH34 just a touch more.
I honestly can't see that 12 being off, so that doesn't bother me as much as the size of the handset. It looks like they just took the hands off of their 36mm model and slapped them on this instead of upsizing them to the proportions of the case. Great review as always, Steve!
The 12 is not misaligned. If you look at the bezel isolated the 12 sits perfectly between the | markers. If you compare against the 30 minute marker, the 30 minute marker hits the 2 in 12 because the 2 is wider than the 1.
Those d@mn ducks crack me up.....smh😄. Really love the styling of the SN054G. San Martin just offers so much more, for so much less, IMHO. I do wish that they would veer away from the fluted casebacks. Have you ever used one of the actual fluted metal bits for opening one or just a rubber ball??? Are they generally pretty easy to remove using a rubber ball removal tool??? Seems to me that it probably wouldn't take much to sheer that fluting, rendering the caseback unremovable. As someone who likes to tinker with, regulate, and service my own watches, that feature alone would prevent me from "pulling the trigger" on certain models. Great looking piece though, and fantastic b-roll shots. I like it best on the bracelet, with the "sailcloth style" a close second. Cheers and well wishes, Steve....
I've had good success with the ol' ball of ductape. My one rubber ball never worked, but the tape ball hasn't let me down yet. I really see no reason for them other than the originals using them. Can't be cheaper than milling 6 little slots into the caseback. 🤷
