    99% of the videos I see on here talking about this drive me crazy. You can just tell that these people probably google 'best oils for your face' and spend ten minutes reading about it but have no actual understanding of the oils themselves and the real pros and cons to them. Your video deserves a lot more attention. Thanks so much for being this thorough and educational! Most people still have no clue what they're putting on their skin (A VERY IMPORTANT ORGAN) even when they've been told it's healthy for them by some big youtuber lmao.

      +Ara Hi! Thank you so much, I really appreciate your comment! The only reason I have so much interest in oils is because all the blends from brands are marketed to be moisturizing, anti-aging etc. only to find out the hard way that my skin was getting drier and I started to break out...and I don't break out. I agree that many of us don't know what we're putting on our skin until we learn the hard way.

    I used to spend so much money on Korean skincare products, but I decided to try going natural and switch over to all oils. My skin has never looked better! My favorite is a mix of rosehip and sweet almond oil. I love how minimal my routine is, too.

    She is right about Argan oil causing acne or increased rosacea, and she's the only one I've heard mention this. Everyone else seems to extol the virtues of Argan oil ad infinitum, but I tried it and it honestly has caused breakouts on my chin AND not helped my rosacea. It also always felt oily on my skin, but rosehip seed oil feels "dry," and hemp oil also feels dry, so I cleanse my face with hemp oil and use rosehip for anti-aging only at night.

    • @pinkcrazygirl
      @pinkcrazygirl 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Elizabeth Elliott Argan oil helped healing my acne alot faster plus it actually penetrates my skin. Unlike coconut oil which caused acne and felt like a greasy film. You mustn't use much argan oil. Or you skin doesn't like argan oil, maybw Jojoba or another oil will help you.

      I wish I could watch this earlier. Recently I just bought Argan Oil because they claimed that they can controil oil production and I didn’t know it’s very high on oleic oils which makes my face still oily after using it & even caused breakout.

      Same with me for Argan oil! I’ll have to try rose hip oil and see if it works. How long before results were seen from rose hip oil?

    • @MaidMirawyn
      @MaidMirawyn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just another example of how skincare is definitely not one size fits all! Going gluten free greatly reduced my rosacea, but adding argan oil to my usual hemp oil for cleansing was the next most helpful thing I've done.
      It was thanks to this video that I had my “Aha!” moment regarding jojoba. My face does NOT like it! It’s great on my hair and cuticles, though.
      Six months without jojoba, four months with argan, and this is the mildest my rosacea has been in over a decade!

    On the dry skin section of oils, I have a note about that Argan oil by Josie Maran… in the videos by Beauty Within, they talk about the Ingredients in it & its not just Argan oil but also Corn Esters are in it. I have found that I’m slightly allergic to Corn. When I applied that oil to my face, when I woke up the next day I had a white head on either side of my nose. When I eat anything Corn I tend to break out with one or two pimples. I’m 59.

    good video!
    People with oily skin must remember that they should wash their face only twice a day. frequent face wash can lead to drying of skin which will send the signal to create more oil. This can be counter productive.
    Also, a gel based moisturiser is a must to maintain skin barrier.

    While I like using essential oils, I'm so happy someone mentioned that lavender essential can be harsh (I don't use it). I'm also glad you mentioned how citrus oils can be phototoxic. Not all of them are phototoxic (sweet orange oil is not). Most of them are phototoxic though, especially depending on the distilling method used. Again, I'm so glad someone finally decided to include this. Essential oils can be useful but only when used properly.

    I use rosehip oil as my nightly cream. I have oily skin and hormonal acne, and it really helped with uneven textured skin, scaring, uneven skin tone, etc. I know it is more for mature skin (and I'm in my 20's) but it works wonders so I'm keeping it! When my skin gets irritated, I use calendula/marigold oil. It's great for any type of irritation, it worked wonders overnight for a friend who had a really bad sunburn on her face.

Sometimes I'll make a honey lemon mask, mix with fresh aloe vera, or add coconut water before. All deoends in skin needs at the moment. LOVE how my skin oils balances, glows, plumps, and hydrates. :-D

I know you don't want to use a clay mask because your skin is dry but the clay sucks out the acne, the Apple cider vinegar helps pH. I mix my moisturizer with organic cold pressed rosehip oil. 6-7 drops at night. 3-4 in the day. helps with scarring and moisturizes.

    This was a fantastic explanation! I have a combination of skin because it is oily and acne prone, but seems to be dry after using commercial acne products for years. For two weeks I've taken out all products I previously used (hidden them for now, including cetaphil), and use a homemade olive oil based cold cream (it does have lavender, but doesn't seem to irritate at all). Despite olive being better for dry rather than oily skin, my skin has healed most of the acne I had and some redness in my lower jawline from the powerful acne topical medication I used ten years ago is going down.
    I'm intrigued by rosehip, jojoba, grapeseed and avocado! Tea tree is fabulous as a spot treatment.

    Hi Me, Myself and I,
    I just stumbled across the video and read some of the comments and saw your post. I have the same skin type, mostly dry and sensitive, but I am lucky because I do not suffer from breakout/acne.
    But try this combination...tea tree oil soap or facial wash (Trader's Joe have a great selection of tea tree product 100%!) and then use an oil that suits you skin type. I use rosehip seed AND NOTHING ELSE!!!! Sometimes we tend to exacerbate a problem by trying to do too much and trying too many products. I wash with a tea tree soap or goats milk soap or Pears soap (all VERY mild and does not dry out the skin), morning at night using warm water and at nights I use the rosehip seed oil and"pat it into skin" just as Giothamista suggested and that is it!!! In the morning if my skim feels dry, I my add a few drops or argan oil mixed with a drop of the rosehip seed oil onthe palm of my hand and gently rub it on my face before applying my foundation. Oh, and I also use a face rag to wash my face at night. Once a week I exfoliate with a St. Ives scrub (the one with Green Tea leaves). Nothing crazy, I think any good exfoliate will work. Just be EXTREMELY gentle. I haven't had a r breakout in MANY YEARS. My only form of breakout comes as the occasional 'period pimple' (that Diva!), and I leave them alone (I know, easier said than done, or dab a little tea tree oil on the pimple (NOT THE ENTIRE FACE!!!).
    VERY IMPORTANT" Make sure to drink PLENTY OF WATER. I know, I know, I know, but you need to cleanse the inside as well as the outside. Yes, genetic help but the environment is so harsh that it's still a constant battle even for those of us with decent skin to begin with. I have had breakouts too....no one is exempt.
    Try this SIMPLE inexpensive formula for a month and see. Trust me!

    I have oily skin but not acne prone and I've been using Argan oil but I don't really notice a difference and it feels like it just sits on my face. I was thinking of switching to Jojoba oil. But I have a question about apply face oils, I've read that for people with oily skin, it may be better to apply a face oil after your moisturizer to lock it in. What's your opinion on that?

    • @fffffmenicafffff

      i am not an expert but argan oil is too greasy for you if you have oily skin..jojoba is better but there are also lighter oils.. and please do not use oil after moistruiser..it is just too much for skin.. i think that in the video oily skin is considered under oily/acne prone section.. i have very sensitive but oily and acne prone skin..and i have been using grapeseed and chesnut oil mixed together..but i would like it to be at least one or two months of using it to give my opinion..so far it is great.. i think that you should do research..just type the name of the oil in google and see for what it can be used.. think of your own skin while reading it and then try to estimate..everyone is different so you have to find something just for you..

    • @tichermark
      @tichermark 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's true. But still, argan oil would not be a good option; it feels quite heavier than jojoba oil, and it's high in oleic acids, whereas jojoba oil is high in linoleic acids. I can't remember exactly why I brought this up haha but in this very video, Renee explains it.

    • @Lana-bw3tu

    • @tichermark
      @tichermark 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lana Banana Hi ;) I just saw your comment. Rosehip oil is basically for age spots and scars; I just use it for my evening skincare routine. I would dare to say that regardless of your skin type, rosehip oil is good but just for what I told you; plus, it's a 2 on the comedogenic scale so be careful, especially if you have oily skin. I just think it's a complement to my other oils; it helps with regeneration, but it doesn't feel hydrating or moisturizing, in my opinion.
