The most interesting thing about the Otohime flashback to me is that moment where she points out that as a species, fishman are entirely capable of living in the dark depths of the ocean floor without trouble, but they still seek out the sun and want to be able to exist on the surface almost instinctively. That's why Fishman Island is setup at this unique point in the ocean where sunlight is able to reach in some small way. But it's not enough. What they truly want and desire most of all is to be able to exist freely on the surface underneath the same sun as the other races. The sun as metaphor for true equality is handled excellently on a thematic and emotional level
If you rewatch the scenes with Chou Chou.. the little doggo hero in Orange Town. Honestly the interactions between Luffy and Chou Chou seem like he is talking and understanding what the dog is saying. Like Luffy instantly knows what the dog means each time he barks, so that's always made me wonder if it was foreshadowing from Goda lol
I mean, you see him do it with Grandpa Ryu, and yes, I know it's filler, but given the specificity with which he understands him, it REEKS of the anime team being aware that he ACTUALLY understands the animals word for word.
A very underrated moment for me at least is When the prince asks Hody what have humans ever done to him for him ta hate them so much with his response being ".....Nothing". This is so powerful in so many ways
I will say, Sanji will get his moment to shine, but I wouldn't call it a "redemption". All this simping for women and being a perv is just part of his personality and for most people it's just not very funny.
As a black One Piece fan Fishman Island definitely hits different. It shifts the perspective on why Arlong was so hateful & to think Oda was able to touch on centuries of injustice culminating in a both hate and hope is realistic. There’s a certain level of cynicism that even the kindest black people hold because our kindness will never be seen first always our skin & some people don’t do the work to push past their own bias to reverse that. Stereotypes are harmful and oppressive but often rooted in truth whether that truth has an ugly past or not is what we need to focus on. Systems of oppression breed hate on both sides. Oda hit the nail on the head with his approach to racism & I think his solution to the struggles between the fishmen & humans in One Piece will be something that can be analyzed for a long time to come. The series just keeps getting better from here too! 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️ I love being apart of the nakama & I appreciate your breakdown videos.
One thing you should do is read the arc’s corresponding cover story. Cover stories are canon as well and more often than not they explain how exactly a character returned-was there in the first place as well as introducing new characters (garp, kamie for example all first appeared in cover stories)
I still wonder why Toei doesn't cash in on all those cover stories instead of coming up with fillers to stall when the Anime needs buffer so it doesn't catch up to the Manga. You have all these little story arcs that could be single or multiple episodes of Anime, depending on the cover story, which are actually canon and they don't capitalize on that...
@@SmiIePIease Ive always maintained that animating the cover stories between arcs would really help aleviate the anime's pacing issues. Its insane how all that wonderful content goes unseen by anime onlies.
It might be a controversial take but I think Hody was an amazing antagonist for what Oda intended the theme of this arc to be. Edit : I am glad that you agree that Hody was amazing
Hody being a Neo Nazi, fits quite well. He has the hate but no substance. A hollow person whose selfish, small minded beliefs were predicated on an inherent superiority based on race.
I love how Oda uses Hody to portray racists for they truly are: shallow, empty and absolutely fucked over by racist propaganda of the environment in which they were raised in. He doesn't get any grandiose plans or kinda noble ambitions or at least grey ambitions like some other villains/antagonists, he was just a racist lunatic because of the environment he grew up in who never had any chance or saw any reason to change his views.
I was re-watching this arc a while back and I completely forgot about that. Hordy nonchalantly mentions it once and that fact is never brought up again in the arc.
Didn't know but at this point, blood relations are used as contrasts, rather than signs of shared nature. But it is a weird connection, perhaps playing a role in explaining Arlong's even more anti-human nature.
I think one of the main theories behind Madam Sharley's prophecy is that luffy is going to take down Mari jois and since that's on top of Fishman Island whatever method he uses to do it will result in the destruction of Fishman Island but it'll be ok because without the celestial dragons the Fishmen can go to the surface
Fisher Tiger is a really intriguing character. He seems like he'd be as violent and meanspirited as Arlong would be, but he actively FIGHTS against that aprt of himself, because no mattr how hard it is for him he KNOWS its wrong and refuses to hurt humans even though a part of him will never forgive them. Instead he fights to undo as many wrongs as he can, hoping to save the next generation from the cycle of hatred in his own way. Makes it incredibly sad that he dies regretting how, unlike Otohime, he couldn't find hope in humanity and move past his hatred. ALso a lot of people really, really dislike this arc and Hody Jones, though I agree that Fishman Island is a good arc with VERY important themes that need to be told and Hody Jones while not the deepest or most likeable or entertaining villain he is an IMPORTANT one meant to act as a cautionary tale.
Honestly, I think Hody Jones' simplicity is what makes him deep. It's used to point how hatred can be taught, how prejudice perpetuates itself through what new generations learn from their environment. Of course, plenty of what he's been taught is real despite the fact he hasn't lived it, but he is shallow since he just repeats the hatred he heard from others, just like humans do with fishmen. And it's great because you can actually empathize with both ends of the spectrum: the diplomatic way, which is filled with frustration and is a really slow path that will take most likely multiple generations to achieve; and the rebel way, which is filled with dead and can possibly reinforce the prejudice against those who rise up to fight for their rights. The problem with this last one is that it got twisted by hatred and turned into something different, as if they seek to damage humans instead of fighting for their rights, and that's interesting too because it represents the constant opression they've been living in. We could even take a lesson here when we see humans suffer because of the world governemnt and the tenryuubito and they still treat fishmen as the celestial dragons treat humans, prejudice and privilege roots are hard to shake off after all. I really love this arc and I'll never understand how so many people dislike it.
Agree that I like this arc and Jones as a decent if not great villian. Second generation racism, when you haven't faced the worst but imbibed it to justify your own failures...makes Jones very relevant in contrast to Otohime and Fisher. Fisher's internal fight is one I think all of us at some level can relate to. We all have our biases and hatred's even if we don't admit it, and the internal battle for our desires vs nature. Fisher Tiger is a top tier Chad for this beyond the whole slave rescue and climbing the freaking Red Line!
Karibou ( the snake looking guy with the swamp fruit ) actually has a cover story about him , after the SH leave FI he keeps trying to kidnap mermaids , Jimbei beats him and hands him to the G5 marines , he escapes and ends on the island X-Drake was right before the timeskip ( which was one Kaido's favorite islands - the only emperor we haven't up to this point ) , he leads a revolution only to be beaten by Drake and imprisoned .
Vegapunk promising to program Kuma to guard the Sunny and actually keeping his word is the driving point behind theories of Vegapunk not being loyal to the marines
Fun fact madam sherly (the seer) was arlong little sister from a different mother and when robin goes full giant women mode her bossom change into onion source? Sbs 102 for robin one
I think everyone forget that poor sanji pass 2 years With the monsters of Okama Island, thats the reason why he is so sensible but i hope no one has to suffer that nighmare jajjaa.
As fishman island is deep underwater, I think instead of having a nose bleed, that sanji could of instead had some sort of pressure related sickness that would make him lose blood. still allowing for the need of a transfusion but without ruining sanji's character
Love the video, I personally think that FI is pretty great. Glad to hear the Joy Boy put your brain into overdrive after having 12 years of Joy Boy posting its always fun getting fresh opinions
Yeah Sanji is a bit much with the antics. But still enjoy the pay off when Chopper giving the “Noooo! Sanji!” Plea when trying to stop him from turning around.
Well, Surume isn't a Sea King. Luffy didn't talk with Surume either. Luffy spoke to Surume, and Surume understood, because all animals in One Piece have the capacity to understand human speech, but Surume never spoke to Luffy. It's an important distinction. What Luffy does with Surume is simply the same thing that he has done with other animals like Chouchou, Laboon, the Kung-Fu Dugongs, the Cerberus in Thriller Bark, The animals he tamed on Rusukaina, and Megalo. Never understanding their language, but they understand and other human's speech.
fishman Island is probably one of my favorite parts of one piece I like how it kinda sets up things that will happen later It gives me something to look forward to
8:33 I have no idea how involved with the anime Oda was back then , but right now in Wano it is very clear that Toei gets some information after future events , hell they even managed to spoil manga readers with one of the openings .
I'm extremely late to the party, but I'm finally watching One Piece! After each arc, I watch your videos to get your take and to see if there's something I missed (you've pointed out a couple of things I've missed so far) I haven't finished this video yet, but ngl I'm mainly here for the Sanji hate at this point, lol. He went from one of my favorite crew members to my least favorite faster than that admiral's light power. Edit: Since you didn't say it, I will. Sanji telling Jinbe to kill himself after EVERYTHING we heard in the flashback made me want to jump through my screen. F Sanji
His connection to Surume (the Kraken) goes all the way back to Orangetown. There he coherantly understands and empathizes with Chouchou (the dog's) will and dream... to protect his fallen owner's shop. No words dictate this other than Luffy's understanding! You're on the right track, I hope you keep enjoying the ride though these next few arcs!
ah, we finally get to where i am in one piece, now i have to decide wether or not i want to endure and watch more and THEN watch your videos or just go with it and make my one piece experience be "the mistery shack mode"
@@Koroto you might just make me go and face the gargantuan odissey that is going back to one piece knowing i have 600 episodes ahead of me oof, i also have seen sprinkled spoilers here and there but tbh one piece is so diverse and interesting that even so i think i can enjoy it, oh well, here goes nothing!
For Surume, I think Conqueror's Haki may have something to do with it. We already saw in the beggining of Return to Sabaody that Luffy was able to tame the animals on Ruskaina. Perhaps he was using Conqueror's Haki as it kinda looked like it. I could go more in detail to the relation of animals and Conqueror's Haki but that would require to me to go into an arc that you haven't reached yet so I won't but do keep an eye out for it. Secondly, the thing about Oda having to do something with filler, I highly doubt it. That was probably just a coincidence on Toei's part as if a filler is authorized/overseen by the original mangaka, it's usually listed as an anime canon. This is seen with the backstory of Fugo in JJBA as Araki overseed the team when they were working on Fugo's backstory. Of course, that was a much more integral part of the JJBA plot and Warship Island isn't that integral, but with what you're proposing it could be if it was anime canon.
I really like this arc. It shows the cycle of revenge and hatred. Something I see in America where people blame other people that live now for the sins of people that lived in the past. Which won't actually fix anything only continue the cycle.
I really like Hody as a character and I'm very happy to see more people agree on him being great because he is an empty villain. Hody could have been any other Fishman from the neglected Fishman District and I love that. Also the Fisher Tiger+Otohime flashback is one of my favorite stories in One Piece, I recently bought the manga volume it features in :D
The Sanji slander be going crazy, his shit this arc was some of the funniest shit this story has given me and to see it be disrespected like this hurts. I mean I could understand the sentiment if this specific brand of his behavior persisted into later arcs but this is clearly just a gag brought on by the fact that Sanji spent 2 years with the Okama and how Oda ties his nosebleeds with the actual plot of the arc is just peak One Piece absurdity and I loved it.
This is Sanji's lowest point in the series and it's one of the reasons that this arc is so generally disliked. I think this is when Oda realized no one really wanted this gag anymore because it's all up hill from here.
I think you have completely misunderstood Sanji's character. He is not acting like a pervert for gag scenes. HE IS A PERVERT. That's part of his character and how a pervert would act after spending 2 years stuck with men (compare hormone levels of young boys in all men boarding schools). Also he is a pirate, you cannot forget that. Even though he acts noble sometimes, he is still supposed to be the morally bad guy and ODA does it masterfully.
I mean, he's a pervert that has acted pretty tame in the past, but yeah after two years straight of being very aggressively pursued by basically an island of drag queens, it's reached a peak.
One thing I feel like I should elaborate is that while yes Madam Sharley did indeed see a person wearing a straw hat destroying the island, it was never stated to be Luffy. While the anime did indeed show him as the destroyer, the manga never portrayed it as Luffy, leaving it instead a shadowy silhouette. And given some other spoilers given much further into the future that I'm not going into, it's best to keep in mind that the person who might destroy the island may not be Luffy. On your other points yes, I agree that she was not very expanded upon as a character, and her being Arlong's sister could have had an interesting role. She does appear much further on in a flashback, but so far not much else is known. That being said, great video, I look forward to the next!! Have a good day!! (also bring back the hidden word in the end credits it was fun :)
I love all these theories and little things you note but one thing I will say is that sometimes oda just puts small things in the story to just help the world feel more alive, and sometimes if you hype them up waiting for a follow up and it doesn’t come you can be disappointed
Yeah - you raise a very good point about building these sorts of headcannon that I always try to be wary of, especially with a series as long as One Piece. 😅 Though I do admit, I often like to overthink anything and everything, so I sometimes fall into that trap myself, but I always try to keep in mind that if my own headcannon isn't confirmed - it's probably worth rethinking my own understanding of the story to avoid falling into that cycle of negativity that I often see on the interwebs. Luckily, I feel like because I am binging most of the series, I get to avoid those months of theorizing and building my own expectations. tl;dr - I try to be careful with managing my expectations, but I might overthink a few things here and there 👍
@@Koroto I binged op durring the pandemic so it is nice that the “300 episode follow up” is only a few weeks/months instead of years, but ever since I caught up and then had to read the manga bc the story was that good and I didn’t want spoilers, and it seems like a lot of the fandom seem to do what you do and then rail against oda when there impossible expectations aren’t met. It’s fun to overthink and theorize but when that gets in the way of you enjoying something you really fell in love with that’s when it goes too far. Just good for thought keep up the great work with the vids though I can’t wait until you get to some of the other post time skip stuff fishman is really just the appetizer
I just noticed that sanji simp gag is basically the getting lost of zoro but I feel like people didn't like that so oda went back later on, might just be overthinking
My theory is that sanji gave up on his dream for the straw hats like he did with zeff , and that’s why he’s so different from zoro , zoro had to learn how to be more selfless he even told Luffy that if he got in the way of his dream he’d kill him but now zoro is putting his life on the line , but sanji hasn’t changed , he barely mentioned the all blue and when he does it’s almost like he doesn’t care about it anymore.
Fishman Island wasn't the best of the best for me personally, but what it did do was retroactively improve my opinion of Arlong Park. It was always a good arc, to be sure, but I wouldn't have called it S tier before. Fishman Island improved my opinion of it by, firstly, reminding me how good it was but also, secondly, adding layers to a villain who I didn't see as much more than a human-hating monster at the time. Then to contrast that villain against Hoardy, who really is a human-hating monster but one born out of a very real grander problem, was amazing.
The thing is, with the villagers calling the marines on Fisher Tiger is _not_ hatred. They just don't care. It's a version of what we heard in Sabaody: fishmen and mermen were not considered human, just another form of fish. That means that their feelings and well-being can be completely disregarded and so, it doesn't matter at all that the marines were called on him. In fact, the reality is that they traded Koala's continued safety in for this. A guarantee that she would not be taken again in return of the life of an inconsequential being. I think the closest we could come as modern people would be if Fisher Tiger had been a robot. Imagine your daughter had been enslaved by someone extremely powerful, someone you absolutely could not go against, and then you hear that a robot is bringing her back to you. Trading in said robot, that doesn't have real feelings, for a guarantee of your daughter's continued safety would seem absolutely worth it. A bit callous, maybe, but not something to lose sleep over. Of course, we know that Fisher Tiger was not merely a fish and that this exchange was heartless to the extreme (he was Koala's _saviour_ after all), but the general level of ignorance in this world concerning fishmen does explain their actions, even if it doesn't excuse them. (It's part of why Otohime's quest is so very, very important)
God. watching fishman Island weekley was a freaking experience, it felt like people switched from loving to hating it by the episode 😂😂. i understand why alot of people were kinda angry because of how the final fight took forever tho, but the rest of the arc is very good imo.
It's hard for me to decide whether this is Sanji's lowest point, or him talking about why he wanted the invisibility fruit in Thriller Bark was. His character is so hard to stomach sometimes, which I can't say is the case for ANY other Straw Hat. It's a shame, because there are some legitimately cool aspects to his character.
It's like, where did the gentleman part of his character go? Yes he's always been weird with ladies (which can already be annoying on its own) but almost never to a predatory degree. So scenes like the bathhouse in Alabasta, Thriller Bark, and this (and something later on that I won't get into for spoiler reasons) just makes me think less of him and taints the great moments he has. It feels like he gets switched out with a different character when these situations occur...
I feel like Oda intentionally set up Sanji to fail like that. You will see till Whole Cake Island he constantly fails in everything. Then he gets his redemption
@@hei7846 not really. This aspect of his character does not change even after WCI. In Wano he is back to creeping on women and getting giant nosebleeds. I've accepted that it's just something that he will never grow out of
Sanji and Vanderdecken are definite low points of the arc, sometimes in similar ways (ick) but everything else is a top tier NUANCED exploration of racism. The way it explores how racism festers and develops and how different people handle it, both in trying to fix it, and when responding negatively to it is elite. Hody gets criticism by people who want more than what he was, but he couldn't be more. That defeats the purpose. This is what the cycle creates. Blind vessels of hatred. Hody wasn't the god damn villain. He was merely the personification of it.
Well I think decans main purpose was to establish shera oshy has the ancient weapon and to be part of her character him being the reason she’s under protection house arrest most of her life
It is important form this arc we see why Sanji and Jimbei have never gotten alone. Jimbei freed Arlong, and Arlong did all that to Nami. And for Sanji, that is unforgivable. But I'm on Team Jimbei on this and so is Nami.
Great review, 100% agree on your views on the flashback and the villain. A real shame with Sanji, I basically just try to ignore his antics at this point. -.-
Some random girl? That's Koala!!! She's anything but random but the future wife of the 2nd in command of the Rev Army! Come on, can't you see the future properly? Where's your antenna on your tin foil :)
The payoff for something that happened in Fishman Island (it has something to do with the Queen) will be seen in the arc that comes after Whole Cake Island. If you're reading this comment, please let me know when you figure out what I was teasing.
Yup, you're not the first to say that and I can confirm something isn't right. Either something broke on the backend or YT didn't push it because of the themes in the arc. 🤷♂ Regardless of what it was, stats are very very weird for this one.
Fishman Island had its great moments with Fisher Tiger and Otohime and the straw hats showing off how strong they were. Also good world building as usual. Weak moments with Sanji and Vander. Apparently they made Luffy struggle more in the anime basically typical Toei Moment.
to me luffy able to 'communicate' with Surume is different than chopper ability to talk to animals. Luffy 'tamed' Surume and Surume basically listen to him. Just like at the beginning of post-time skip, when Luffy ruled Ruskaina. As for the 'Voice of All things' both Roger and Luffy are able to hear Sea Kings. Surume is not a Sea Kings. Surume didn't talk at all, but he clearly can understand Luffy. As for Vegapunk, I never get the idea of him working for the Marine. He's working for the World Government. The CP units are also work for the World Government so does The Schichibukai. The World Government is on the top of the system. Everything else is under it.
Y'know I forgot to comment this on the other video but I felt I should at least say my piece now. It always irked me how pervy sanji was right after the time skip but seeing as he(a perv) hadn't seen any women for literally 2 years it didn't feel so out of place. Furthermore, I also don't have so much an issue with the flying dutchman being a disappointment since it was a dank ship to begin with and who's to say there wasn't more to it and reckon just happened across the wrecked ship. On a lighter note, I do however agree with your proposal on how the transfusion in the beginning of the arc coulda been handled so there's some genuine ideas there bro.
@@hei7846 well in my opnion, he still a good villain but compared to the other villains that we've already encountered, he just underwhelming hahaha its juts my opinion though
How was Vander Decken's power not important? It was the reason the Noah was falling on Fishman Island. And let's not act like Luffy isn't a liability for the crew all the time.
Dr. Vegapunk is Questionable at the best? He is an enigma and I think we will not solve him before the end. But I like his space robots ( it is only at the Manga cover stories so I didn't reveal anything).
I Just saw that you asked in beginning Mai on Twitter after Episoden someone would Like to see a irl Reaktion to. Because i do not know how to use Twitter i am commenting wahr i would Wish to see under this Video. Episodes 701-706, 715-716, 751, 767 and 868. Sorry for my bad Englisch it's my Seconds language.
Bro you are taking the Sanji gag too seriously. Yes its cringe but people overreact way to much over a simple gag. The Madame Sharley prophecy is purposfully planted here ambigious for the future otherwise if the prophecy would have been explained here in detail the whole mystery and set up are for nothing
I can never understand why so many people despise Sanji during Fishman Island. If you think about what he went through for the last 2 years, as a heterosexual male surrounded by nothing but drag queens.... any heterosexual male would have a similar response once he got back around women. Perhaps not quite as extreme, but this is an anime! Think about it 🤔
While I agree it did made Sanji seem worse I will say I found it funny for the sheer dumb reason that I found the fact that they had went and turned a tired anime cliche (nosebleeding perverts) into a goddamn plotpoint as hilariously absurd. Though I admit, this is a unpopular opinion.
I thought the same thing. My biggest problem with Sanji in this arc (what he tells Jinbe after the flashback) wasn't even mentioned. I legit wanted to jump through the screen.
Hordy is definitely not the most complex character, but as you said, what he represents is important and he serves as an obstacle-continuously getting back up and fighting until they’re gray and old. Some have stated Oda could’ve delved deeper, but I like that he didn’t rub anything into our faces and the way he presented it. I think our lack of SH shine is helped a little in the latter half of the arc and I did miss our crew, but Oda just does such great backstories, I couldn’t help but not notice.
The Adam And Eve trees are not unique. Important Genormous Trees in the middle of civilizations appear in many One Piece Islands. Like the Ohara one or the one in the middle of Mihawks Island that was cut in the shape of a cross.
I do wonder if with the other religious depictions, if Shyarly is a allegory for a kind of priest or religious leader? Like the person in a religion who talks to ‘god’ and everyone blindly follows them because it’s ‘the word of god’ or whatever. Considering there’s a lot of other religious bits and pieces it wouldn’t surprise me lols especially with all the people being easily influenced … negatively or positively 🤔
I love your videos but sometimes you talk like this is not anime and every scene should be taken seriously, its not. I commented this before but i would suggest that you shouldnt hang on the sanji gag too much.
I mean - I don't think it's funny and just find it obnoxious, it's really as simple as that for me. So neither from a 'serious' perspective or comedic one - I just don't like his character rn... like at all 😅
@@Koroto Well I am able to ignore his unfunny gimmick and focus on the good aspects but I guess I cannot expect thst from you. But I would suggest you try, when you do the whole cake arc (which is 3 arcs later I believe) will be much more enjoyable.
Oda does make requests for some things to be included/excluded in anime filler, so...... Did Oda _really_ include an important detail in a filler relatively early?
My subs said Hordy, but some others say its Hody, so maybe it's a matter of where you watched it? No clue though, just going off of what I watched myself 🤷♂️
Yeah, Sanji's whole things is... pretty annoying. He's always been one of my least favorite strawhats, but this arc certainly made him go lower in the ranking. Which is a shame, because I really like cooking and I've gone to culinary school, so a chef character is right up my alley... I just can't be bothered with his whole womanizer nosebleed thing.
SAME! His mini chef tournament arc bag in Logue Town was so much fun, but now he is just.... well yeah... At this point, his dreams of becoming the best chef and finding the all blue seem totally forgotten, which is seriously a shame considering how important it was for his early story - hell, I can't even remember the last time he actually mentioned the all blue. 😕
@@Koroto Yeah, I loved that loguetown cooking contest, and I believe that part was anime only filler! The fact that another one of his most memorable moments (up to fishman island at least) for me was also during a filler arc, when he showed off his cooking skills back in G8, says a lot. He does get some great moments later but fishman island is like the bottom of the barrel imo. Anyways, excited for the next video, keep it up!
Excellent read. Otohine is a fantastic character that does more world building than just her actions.

Yeah, I should really get around to doing that at some point 😅

He doesn't get any grandiose plans or kinda noble ambitions or at least grey ambitions like some other villains/antagonists, he was just a racist lunatic because of the environment he grew up in who never had any chance or saw any reason to change his views.
I think in concept hody is amazing but the execution wasn't good atleast that's jow i felt
Did you know Madam Sharley and Arlong are half siblings
Fisher tiger got did dirty
Tbh I wonder if a bunch of the people who dislike this arc do so because they've never been on the receiving end of racism etc.
Fun fact about Sharlie , she is Arlong's (half) sister
Great video man, always appreciate your analysis and balls to the wall theorizing :)
You and Shut Up Denny are both reviewing one piece at the same time in very similar styles.
More one piece related content for me
👀
Sanji is a slow burn, and honestly like me you'll probably never fully be on board, but you'll give him is long overdue respect when oda wants you to
I love you’re deep takes on these arcs and it gives me a different perspective. I’m currently at 590 and am obsessed with one piece 😫
I'm extremely late to the party, but I'm finally watching One Piece! After each arc, I watch your videos to get your take and to see if there's something I missed (you've pointed out a couple of things I've missed so far)
I haven't finished this video yet, but ngl I'm mainly here for the Sanji hate at this point, lol.
You're on the right track, I hope you keep enjoying the ride though these next few arcs!
each time i look at kuma i think that government secret weapon is to replicate all shichibukai. Suppose an army of mihawk
ah, we finally get to where i am in one piece, now i have to decide wether or not i want to endure and watch more and THEN watch your videos or just go with it and make my one piece experience be "the mistery shack mode"
Try it 50/50 😂
@@Koroto you might just make me go and face the gargantuan odissey that is going back to one piece knowing i have 600 episodes ahead of me oof, i also have seen sprinkled spoilers here and there but tbh one piece is so diverse and interesting that even so i think i can enjoy it, oh well, here goes nothing!
@@az2033 you wont regret it. I ended up watching from about ep 600 to 1000 in a month haha
Cant wait to see your video on dressrosa, Great video!!!
Fishman Island split into two parts? Cool can't wait For the 10 episode wano video
I can't wait for his take on a certain character in later arcs
Shurororororo
This is Sanji's lowest point in the series and it's one of the reasons that this arc is so generally disliked. I think this is when Oda realized no one really wanted this gag anymore because it's all up hill from here.
that's not entirely true though. The gag still exists. It just doesn't become significant in the plot.
No matter what you say we love Sanji! You can jog on
I always viewed sanjiis nose bleed gag as him going through withdraws for not seeing girls for 2 years.
Babe, wake up, new Koroto One Piece Video just dropped
Damn bro you caught up to what me and my girl are upto , I gotta get back to continuing One piece
I wasn't a fan of this arc as it was coming out, but looking back it's actually brilliant.
One piece does flashbacks so well that i can't help but always look forward to them, but yea fishman island is a mixed bag for sure.
100% - whenever flashbacks start, you know things are about to get very very real, especially when its for one of the core characters 😄

The Sanji stone thing is just a gag (going along with Boa's DF)
Green hair celestial dragon will show up again later and it will be important, so remember him.
This arc made Sanji go from one of my favorite straw hats to my least favorite straw hat.
I too hate people that is anti pervy/nosebleed tropes, so the feeling's mutual
If hes splitting this into 2 videos its gonna be at least 5 videos for the Dressrosa arc lmao
Oda definitely overdid it with Sanji's problem with women
Great review, 100% agree on your views on the flashback and the villain. A real shame with Sanji, I basically just try to ignore his antics at this point. -.-
Some random girl? That's Koala!!! She's anything but random but the future wife of the 2nd in command of the Rev Army! Come on, can't you see the future properly? Where's your antenna on your tin foil :)
From this point on, the story is only uphill from here.
The payoff for something that happened in Fishman Island (it has something to do with the Queen) will be seen in the arc that comes after Whole Cake Island. If you're reading this comment, please let me know when you figure out what I was teasing.
weird how i didnt get a notification for this
Yup, you're not the first to say that and I can confirm something isn't right. Either something broke on the backend or YT didn't push it because of the themes in the arc. 🤷♂
Regardless of what it was, stats are very very weird for this one.
Cool video 👍
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed it! 👍
There's a theory about vegapunk being a revolutionary
I can definitely see that tbh. Having someone on the inside, especially in such a powerful position would probably be useful for the revolutionaries 🤔
I NEED to know what you thought of the “tyrant” flashback (I will never forgive not forget the fact you called him tyrant instead of kuma)
I'dont like the vilians of this arc but I like the back story of the sun pirates in my opinion
The villain was perfect wdym. He was meant to be a shell of Arlong and he was exactly that
@@hei7846 well in my opnion, he still a good villain but compared to the other villains that we've already encountered, he just underwhelming hahaha its juts my opinion though
@@sapphire.k7414 He is supposed to be shallow, empty and blind hatred. He is just an empty husk of Arlong.
nice i just finished this arc
You were thinking too much about Sharley in this video,
How was Vander Decken's power not important? It was the reason the Noah was falling on Fishman Island.
And let's not act like Luffy isn't a liability for the crew all the time.
Sanji turns to stone cuz hes "hard". Get it? Thats how I always saw it.
32:40, lucky I'v got a bigger chart!
Dr. Vegapunk is Questionable at the best? He is an enigma and I think we will not solve him before the end. But I like his space robots ( it is only at the Manga cover stories so I didn't reveal anything).

Sanji in this one was a pretty big miss, but he does get a lot better in the future
We’ll know after 300 episodes that is incredibly close to the truth 😂
@Korotos Mystery Shack keep an eye out for that dragon next time you see him you will be surprised
trust me, sanji gets better... eventually
Think about it 🤔
Luffy could also talk to and understand chouchou
I think our lack of SH shine is helped a little in the latter half of the arc and I did miss our crew, but Oda just does such great backstories, I couldn’t help but not notice.
cant wait for you to reach wano 1015 HAHAHA
agreed with whatever u said about sanji..haha
The Adam And Eve trees are not unique. Important Genormous Trees in the middle of civilizations appear in many One Piece Islands. Like the Ohara one or the one in the middle of Mihawks Island that was cut in the shape of a cross.
Wow not a single comment about Joyboy?
Just wait 3 more arcs
Isn't ti "Hody" and not "Hordy" or am I missing something?
My subs said Hordy, but some others say its Hody, so maybe it's a matter of where you watched it? No clue though, just going off of what I watched myself 🤷♂️
@@Koroto aaah I never knew there was a "Hordy" version. It's nice to learn a new thing.
Nice!
Why you say Saba-OOOAAA-dy? 😂
I sympathize with sanji
@@CruelusRex apparently all the anime filler during Loguetown was stuff that oda wanted to put into the manga but didn't have time for
