That kind of bigotry and hatred exists in real people, which is why a character like Hody is kinda scary. I honestly think he works. sure he's not as cool as crocodile or near as popular as the villains before, but he works with the story. You missed the most important part with Van der Decken. He “fell in love” with Shirahoshi when she was a 6-year old child and is now a 16-year old teenager. This fishface is a certified child connoisseur…
He didn't even fall in love, he just saw her summoning the sea kings and thought "i want it" and then tried to marry and kill a actual infant for a decade straight
This is actually one of the most important arcs in the story. It’s unskipable. It tells us that luffy will destroy the red line, luffy learning that there are people suffering from racism and oppression. The friendship bonded between 2 races that hated each other. that the sun is a big aspect in everyone’s lives, the introduction of a man named joyboy. Poseidon, everything. You wouldn’t even understand wano if you didn’t watch alabasta, skypiea, enies lobby, fish man island, and dressrossa.
Plus there's the whole royal friend collection getting together. Bit like the doctor who companion support group. I pray there's a mass reunion/team up during for the climax
I honestly loved Fishman Island. It was never supposed to be taken seriously, it was literally an excuse for all the Straw Hats to just style on an army for a few chapters
I honestly think that fishmen island being more relaxed was needed. Sabody was big, impel down was quiet serious and exciting, marineford was wrll, marineford. A bit chilled arc helped to pull down the tension
The funniest thing about this is that people often look at Zoro and say "This guy is so badass that he'd never serve anyone.". And then the trauma sets in as they realize "What kind of monster the Captain has to be for This guy to serve him."
Hody is like a parallel to Demalo Black and the Fake Hats during Sabaody, trying to emulate the Hats and falling short. He’s got the crucial traits: Obsessed with drugs, racist, Hawaiian shirt, and a dude on his team who really needs a restraining order for everyone without a Y-chromosome, but he pales in comparison to the unrestrained havoc of the true Captain Crackhead.
Objection: Neither is Vander Decken part of Hody's crew nor does Fakehat have a crewmember that needs a restraining order. Sanji is a true Strawhat. And Brook can't help himself, he has a permanent bone(r).
I think by far the funniest part of this arc is Luffy’s conq haki wiping out such a huge portion of Hody’s army. Imagine the perspective where you have no idea about that and a dude just standing there, menacingly, knocks out half the people around him.
"every time he hits you you just start taking more drugs... At this point I don't even think there's a plan anymore. You probably just want to be high for whatever is going on" That was very nonchalantly a very funny line.
Fish man island was super hype at the time bc it was the first real arc after the time skip. We all wanted to see the new and improved crew at full power.
I actually really like the idea that Arlong has become an martyred figure within the fishmen community, holding him up to be this mythological rebel leader that he never truly represented.
Luffy: "Hordy, you sicken me! Eating something that gives you a ridiculous power boost? Using it in a way that reduces your lifespan?" Cut to luffy eating a devil fruit. Cut to luffy using early gear second. Luffy: "Disgraceful!"
Jimmy is officially a world hero, even more than Garp. Luffy explicitly reiterating that he doesn't want to learn anything at all (well, more than usual), specifically into the middle one of the biggest lore drop is the finest touch.
I like how in Goofy’s retelling of every arc luffy is just becoming more and more self aware of the fact that he’s the main character. To the point he recognizes there’s a bad guy he needs to punch and bof he beats up the bad guy he gets food.
@@mrbubbles6468 tbf Water 7/Enis Lobby was THE character development arc. The Straw Hats went in as a rag tag team of misfits and came out the other side as a legitimate pirate crew. Everything prior was necessary setup but the payoff is only apparent after the fact.
@@christopher6600 Exactly. If you read OP from start to W7 you just know Oda is going to drop something big on the crew at some point. You just don’t know when. And then W7 hits and he drops it on us hard. And doesn’t really let up honestly until the timeskip.
Little addition to the ass kicking that zorro gave. Hordy the fishman was fighting a human underwater while on super steroids the human let you hit him a bunch of times, and then got one-shot. Well done hordy!
Sanji defeats a Fishman under water* Nothing happens* Zoro defeats a fishman under water* “This must be the first time this has ever happened in human history.”
It’s funny how he says this in the fishman island arc how “a hero would share all of the meat with the town”, whereas in wano that’s exactly what his purpose is; ending hunger and disproportionate poverty
Well watch episode 1030 it’s one of the lessons Benn Beckman taught him. And he also realized that the history story was more for Nami sake than his own.
it still is crazy how Hordy was strengthened far, far past his normal limits, and the fight literally took place underwater where Hordy is at his best and Luffy is at his absolute worst, and Luffy still absolutely ruined him effortlessly
I thought the Fishman arc helped flesh out the world. Learning about Fisher Tiger and Queen Otohime, as well as the effects of the World Government on other not-quite human societies is really driven home, and it shows how pointless racism truly is.
one of the funniest genuine jokes of the Fishman Island arc though was the fact Neptune actually guessed where Weepyhoshi went. Like they only know she is missing and they have seen Megalo swim out the palace. So he suggested that clearly she hid inside her pet giant shark and escaped with Luffy. Everyone just laughs at him thinking no one is that insane that they would try to do such a thing.
I reread Fishman Island recente and yeah, the pacing is kinda whacked. It's like Oda was rushing to get to the flashback, things kinda happen one after the other.
Man, I'm so happy I found your channel. I've been cracking up each time I've watched each arc video. I know you're gonna blow up soon and I'm happy to be part of that ride.
Fishman island always felt like going back to the story mission after finishing several series of optional side quests. They were so overpowered compared to everything, which makes sense. Barring any fucky-wucky events, this place was essentially at their power level for the first time they showed up.
I love the videos man! But at this point, I think Jimmy D. Scoops should be the last member of the straw hats and use supreme king's haki whenever he says "Now this is big news!"
The Dedication of Jimmy tho. Dude got arrested by a mob, then released and still went into a city currently occupied by a bunch of human hating fishmen in order to take them pictures! He might not be a Captain but he 100% is a Crackhead as well!

@@mrbubbles6468 his channel grew pretty quick, all things considered. People like Kol have been on for over a decade and never beat 300K
You missed the most important part with Van der Decken. He “fell in love” with Shirahoshi when she was a 6-year old child and is now a 16-year old teenager. This fishface is a certified child connoisseur…

@@tutorialboss4090 that whole convo cracked me up lmao
This is actually one of the most important arcs in the story. It’s unskipable. It tells us that luffy will destroy the red line, luffy learning that there are people suffering from racism and oppression. The friendship bonded between 2 races that hated each other. that the sun is a big aspect in everyone’s lives, the introduction of a man named joyboy. Poseidon, everything. You wouldn’t even understand wano if you didn’t watch alabasta, skypiea, enies lobby, fish man island, and dressrossa.
Wano in a nutshell.
Looney tunes Luffy beats up the world's strongest dragon man set in feudal Japan.
The Strawhats moonwalked on the asses of 100000 fishmen. Heehee!😂
I honestly think that fishmen island being more relaxed was needed.
Sabody was big, impel down was quiet serious and exciting, marineford was wrll, marineford.
A bit chilled arc helped to pull down the tension
Wake up babe, new Mugiwara No Goofy has dropped
Iam awake and no iam def not a monster under youre bed waiting to eat you
Here i come!!!
I have awakened
It's 12am I was about to sleep but my phone notification buzzed with a new upload
On break at workz look at my phone and see he dropped a new vid so Ik I gotta watch it 😂
There are a tons of ridiculous jokes in this episode, but the one that killed me was "that's not the captain"😂
Phenomenal joke, thank u for sharing
You look like arlong, you act like arlong you Just forgot one thing: YOU ARE NOT *HIM!*
Hordy is the only villain in any anime I’ve seen who is an opioid addict and I find that hilarious
More like amphetamines, probably
@@mattia_carciola equally as funny either way
@@yoshuahs999 Absolutely lol
Hordy on the 40 Jones Junior
bro just really wanted to consume some percs
"every time he hits you you just start taking more drugs... At this point I don't even think there's a plan anymore. You probably just want to be high for whatever is going on"
That was very nonchalantly a very funny line.
I mean, if I had to fight Luffy, I wouldn't want to do it sober either
Fish man island was super hype at the time bc it was the first real arc after the time skip. We all wanted to see the new and improved crew at full power.
I remember seeing Zoro beat the shit out of Hody effortlessly and wonder how much he was holding back. Dude is structurally inorganic.
I actually really like the idea that Arlong has become an martyred figure within the fishmen community, holding him up to be this mythological rebel leader that he never truly represented.
The first use of Luffy’s focused conquerors haki was absolutely spine chilling
The best part is that if post-Wano Luffy had been at Fishman Island, he would have knocked out literally every single one of them, including Hordy.
@@greatestcaitthat’s like saying SSJ3 Goku would have solo’d Frieza
@@greatestcaitif it had been post-wono luffy Hordy Jones wouldn't have even survived the first kick.
Luffy: "Hordy, you sicken me! Eating something that gives you a ridiculous power boost? Using it in a way that reduces your lifespan?"
Cut to luffy eating a devil fruit.
Cut to luffy using early gear second.
Luffy: "Disgraceful!"

Or Iva’s df 😭
Jimmy is officially a world hero, even more than Garp.
Luffy explicitly reiterating that he doesn't want to learn anything at all (well, more than usual), specifically into the middle one of the biggest lore drop is the finest touch.
I like how in Goofy’s retelling of every arc luffy is just becoming more and more self aware of the fact that he’s the main character. To the point he recognizes there’s a bad guy he needs to punch and bof he beats up the bad guy he gets food.
This dude understands Luffy more than Moistcrtikal ever will.
fr! trying to watch Charlie review One Piece has been painful tbh
I do like him saying that no one developed only to gush over Water Seven which only works because of all the arcs of development up till that point
@@mrbubbles6468 tbf Water 7/Enis Lobby was THE character development arc. The Straw Hats went in as a rag tag team of misfits and came out the other side as a legitimate pirate crew. Everything prior was necessary setup but the payoff is only apparent after the fact.
@@ferrelz I just don't get why he's watching, he obviously doesn't like Luffy. Like, if you don't like the protagonist, the show may not be for you
@@christopher6600 Exactly. If you read OP from start to W7 you just know Oda is going to drop something big on the crew at some point. You just don’t know when. And then W7 hits and he drops it on us hard. And doesn’t really let up honestly until the timeskip.
Hordy's plan to take over Fishman Island may have worked if not for the Strawhats, but his grander goal of taking on the WG never stood a chance.
Little addition to the ass kicking that zorro gave. Hordy the fishman was fighting a human underwater while on super steroids the human let you hit him a bunch of times, and then got one-shot. Well done hordy!
The Jinbe and Luffy conversation was perfectly recapped, lol XD
“guess what jinbei…” is one of the best lines in this entire series so far

Sanji didn't defeat him underwater, the final blow was outside but he gained the upper hand by blowing air into him.
@@fatherofrose4027current Sanji low diffs
@@Avada_ontop*extremediff either way
It’s funny how he says this in the fishman island arc how “a hero would share all of the meat with the town”, whereas in wano that’s exactly what his purpose is; ending hunger and disproportionate poverty
he just wanted to let his friend(Tama) stop starving so much/help his friends get back their home/kick an emperor's ass
Seeing Luffy's fists swell up, turn black and fly toward me is terrifying.
He's so far away, but still within melee range!
Luffy: My melee range is infinite.
Luffy after Wano: My melee in general is ridiculus.
The way the mouths almost line up with what you’re saying is perfect!
Luffy not having the patience of listening to people's story will never not be funny 😭
It’s because the Monkey family represents the four evils; Luffy is hear no evil; Kong is see no evil; Garp is do no evil, and Dragon is speak no evil.
The only reasonrobin and nami can lore dump on him is because they do it on a ship so he cant wander off
@@RoronoaZoro-ur6hr Is Kong even related to them?
It's reminiscent of saitama, bros just want to get to the throwing hands part 😂
Well watch episode 1030 it’s one of the lessons Benn Beckman taught him. And he also realized that the history story was more for Nami sake than his own.
This one felt like one of those fan dubs like dbza. That made it even more hilarious. I've watched this like 5 times, and I can't stop laughing.
Man Jimmy truly is the best. Honorary Strawhat in my book!
"But remember, you are Hody Jones; you don't look at anything critically."
😆
This is the best dub of Fishman Island ever 😂
Fishman Island has the *best* villain of them all, Hody the Captain of the New Fishman Pirates and true deranged crackhead (without magic)
literally
But a crackhead with actual steroid pills
So this fight was the deranged crackhead vs the magical flying Captain Crackhead.
it still is crazy how Hordy was strengthened far, far past his normal limits, and the fight literally took place underwater where Hordy is at his best and Luffy is at his absolute worst, and Luffy still absolutely ruined him effortlessly
I thought the Fishman arc helped flesh out the world. Learning about Fisher Tiger and Queen Otohime, as well as the effects of the World Government on other not-quite human societies is really driven home, and it shows how pointless racism truly is.
And somewhere in the background, you hear..."this is big news!"
🤣 Jimmy and Big News Morgans have become my favorite supporting characters!
one of the funniest genuine jokes of the Fishman Island arc though was the fact Neptune actually guessed where Weepyhoshi went.
Like they only know she is missing and they have seen Megalo swim out the palace. So he suggested that clearly she hid inside her pet giant shark and escaped with Luffy. Everyone just laughs at him thinking no one is that insane that they would try to do such a thing.
They LIVED with him, HOW DID THEY NOT SEE THIS COMING?
The Zoro racism part was such a good inside joke 😂
Hot take: hordy was not that bad of a villain. Yes, he was one dimensional but like what Alfred said, "some men just want to see the world burn".
"What did the humans actually do to you?"
"Nothing"
@@honkworld9405Right. The idea is that if you pass your hatred to next generation, they’ll be people like Hordie who haven’t suffered at the hands of anyone, and don’t even have justification for their prejudice, and thusly just hate for hatred’s sake. An empty, soulless, grudge.

I like how as soon as he said" imagine you're Hordy Jones and you hate humans, that is your whole thing" my thought was not much has changed then
The Hordy Pirates are just Black Lives Matter/Antifa of One Piece, so if you’re saying that you hate his character for those reasons alone then you should hate those movements too.

While there are some extremists in those movements you mentioned, those are outliers, as the core belief propagated in blm and antifa are racial equality and anti authoritharianism, respectivelly.
Hody Jones is just racist. Even tho he represents a minority, he is more akin to groups like KKK, believing in a "superior race". I'd dare say Jimbei views are more in tune to what BLM is supposed to represent.

I'll say it we should appreciate fishman island more for being the showcase arc for the strawhats letting us show off after two years of hard work cause I mean look how good the strawhats looked during that whole thing. Also appreciate Hordy for being the punching bag for us to test some of the new skills we will see further in later arcs evolve and change. So thank you fishman island.
I feel like you've really refined your writing and delivery for these. Oh and the 'Now this is big news!' got me so hard.
