RE: hi-beam indicator: I've always wondered if people made that mistake, but then I always think "people CAN'T be that stupid"....then I remember I work in IT and they, in fact, totally CAN be. I HATE driving my car and usually opt for the SUV lately at night because of the number of idiots with high-beam/insanely bright lights. It's also always fun when I meet a jacked up truck with insane lights...and then I flash my hi-beams, and then they respond by MELTING MY CORNEAS with their actual high-beams. Maybe I'm just getting old and cranky, but headlights are getting insane/insanely dangerous.
on European cars the blue light on dash has always meant high beam, you only need to look at orientation of lines from the D to see they point straight as opposed to down at a 45 degree angle, having a little bit of knowledge about warning lights and where to fill fluids in a car should be part of the USA driving test as it is in most EU countries & btw most of us drive manual gear shift cars...not auto's
You're not getting old and cranky. LOW BEAM headlights of these latter years (late 10's into the 20s) are as bright as HIGH BEAMS used to be in the 90s. I'm a millennial in their 30s now and I definitely notice the difference. I have to drive with blue-filtering glasses whenever I drive at night because the ultrabright low beams of all these high-sitting crossover XUV things on the road are right at the same height as my FK7 Civic's wing mirrors so I get my corneas blasted out by LOW BEAMS when I drive at night.

It’s because dashes have turned digital and apparently, no dealer tells the customer what all the lit up icons on the MPH gauges means. South Dakota here, two weeks ago we were -24 degrees with a wind chill factor of -45 degrees. About 4 days ago the weather jumped up to the 40s, which is about equivalent to 70 degrees there, very comfortable and nice. Next week we’re looking at 54 degrees which is summer conditions. Dude, you are spot on with the High Beam renegades; they're right up there with the Left Lane hogs, the no-signal lane changers (you'd think Audis, Mercedes, and BMWs would at least come with turn indicators as standard equipment, but by my calculations that doesn't seem to be the case), and here in the Great White North (from the same family no doubt); the SnowBank driving no-clean-snow-off-car projectile launcher drivers!

I always but a good dab of grease on the inner and outer splines to aid the shaft sliding in and also to hinder corrosion making possible future dissasembly a hard task, especially where roads are salted in winter..
Had to change the front bearing and the shaft refused to come off. Made a hydraulic puller with a 10,000 psi pump, removed all the studs and used 5 threaded rods to attach said puller and it finally came off with a lot of @#$@@& words. Love Canadian roads. Keep up making these fantastic videos.

My son is a physician. As part of his residency, they were actually encouraged to watch "House" and try to follow and speculate over the storyline. I've got to say as a mechanic wannabe, I have learned a lot from just watching your videos and trying to speculate how things come apart. Your videos have become longer, possibly because you do so much in real time rather than high speed camera work. I think one of the masters of mechanics is Faye Hadley, her videos are much shorter as she does high speed edits over mundane stuff like zapping bolts out. She doesn't have the color comments or as much instruction as you so that's the trade off. Eric O is similar in time as so much is real time. Keep up the videos and I'll learn automotive from the 3 of you.
One of the very first episodes of House has them performing an emergency 'tracheotomy' by cutting through the larynx (read: vocal chords). In real life, you can guess what that would mean. Suffice it to say: Don't believe everything you see. Failure to think critically is a big reason why people do.
I've been quite happy with the longer format videos. It's one of the reasons I watch your content; you actually include all the details explaining what you're doing and why. Keep up the great work m8!
High beams drive me nuts. But the bigger problem is cars that automatically turn on the headlights and NOT the taillights??? Why. Most people don’t even know the car is dark from the back.
Ray, don't worry about the length of your videos. Since you started using the 4K HDR camera, I can't get enough of your videos on my 77" HDR TV. What a treat seeing everything so super sharp and super bright in full living color. It really improves the presentation dramatically. Very few people put out anything close to the quality of your videos, both in content and the beauty of the 4K HDR. Actually none of the channels I subscribe to offer this level of video quality. Everything is so easy to see. I used to watch your videos on my 1080P computer monitor. Not anymore. Great work as always in this episode. The customers will be thrilled to learn the tranny is fine and the repair was less serious.
Good day Ray. I would like to see the longer videos. One hour or two hours , your videos are always very informative and interesting. I love your comments as well “ I blame the parents “ priceless. I always look forward to watching your videos. Keep up the good work. Thanks
I always take the strut bolts out. Just mark the front edge of the strut on the spindle and put it back in the same place if their is adjustability. I used to work at the Subaru factory in Lafayette Indiana and we put a glob of grease on that c clip on the inboard joint and it will slide in with ease. Great video have a great day as always
Thank you for amending use of circumnavigation. Further correction are available. Re headlight woes, check out height of even low beam when being faced or tailed by monstrous truck.
Thank you for pointing out the high beams! I drive as little as possible at night because people either keep their highs on or have some ridiculously bright low beams that completely blind me... I almost ran off the road the other day because of it.. I was going though a turn when I was blinded. fortunately it was a road I know quite well.
Yup up here in the great white north, some people don't know what that little blue light means either. They even like putting on the fog lights on a clear night. As far as the weather goes we too are experiencing some mild weather " for us that is", only two layers of clothing required lately! Even the dog has been coming out for walks with me with this current weather.
It has come up above 30 drg forecast 50s and 40s lower overnight above frezing. Its soggy wet and rained all day yesterday. The snow pack is melting but even today we have a few piles ( snow is that white cold stuff on mountain tops made of water its ice at the molecular level each rain drop burst into a tiny star shape and no 2 look alike) .
Just drove across the mid-west, temps dropped to -6 to -12. Horrible weather, multiple cars, trucks, semi’s jackknifed, rolled over, lots of ice and snow. I’m glad we made it home safely.
A few days spraying orange groves with water to save the crop is better than 5 1/2 months of being beat down with frozen crap. Dripping down the neck. On every service. THINK SPRING. ! Good work Ray. Mass. Loves the channel.
I hope the customer appreciates the fact that he/she got away with a cheap (potentially car scrap) repair. Note: You have the aptitude to make a video entertaining.
40 Degrees here in Denver, but for the Mile High City in January, that's SUPER warm! When the polar Vortex hit, on the last day, it was actually colder in Denver than it was in Antarctica!!!
I initially thought this video was referring to the 3.6L V6 engine breaking in two. We have several Caravans at work that have many miles on them, however well maintained, with these engines and never a problem with the vehicles.
Hey Ray, Video time is just fine. don't worry too much about making longer videos. 1 hour is fine. if ppl want to skip stuff they have the power to do that. I personally enjoy the videos regardless of length.
it's currently 39 degrees by me in wisconsin right now. However it will fluctuate and we have colder temps coming again. At least they aren't in the negatives and are still positive so all is good lol!
I found that by taking a sharp scribe and drawing the outline of the strut clamp on the steering knuckle is helpful in making sure the strut is reinstalled in the exact same position as it was before. Also noticed fretting corrosion on the left side axle splines. Looks like the nut had been slightly loose for some time.
Still in the 30's here in Moo Hampshire. After the last attempt to get home in snow and ice I ordered some snow chains. Now being the cheap RAcaseal unit I am... They're zip tie style tire units. And reusable. Might have to try them out on Monday.

Thanks for taking time to show us everything and explain what you're doing and why. As for the long videos, sometimes time takes time. In fact time takes time all the time!
Yes, until we find a way around it, time is a constant and positive-linear dimension.
😂😂😂😂😂
115 degrees F. In Bullhead City, 9-3-24 Thank You, Ray, we really enjoy your videos!
Although we still have snow on the ground, because during the week of freezing temperatures all the snow turned to ice.
3:49 THANK YOU for public service announcement I really appreciate that.
Don't listen to the naysayers Ray. We love the longer vigias with more detailed repairs, commentary and comedy, especially with the skits and guest appearances (wif unit, Dave etc) lol. Even though I know how to do most of the stuff you do, I still watch looking for tips, tricks and different methods to improve and learn about new things (like the 3.6L oil cooler job)..... Because one never stops learning!
Keep being Awesome!
Up here in Lethbridge Alberta it warmed up to 7 C today. that's about 46 F in freedom units. Melt water is running everywhere.
Dude, you are spot on with the High Beam renegades; they're right up there with the Left Lane hogs, the no-signal lane changers (you'd think Audis, Mercedes, and BMWs would at least come with turn indicators as standard equipment, but by my calculations that doesn't seem to be the case), and here in the Great White North (from the same family no doubt); the SnowBank driving no-clean-snow-off-car projectile launcher drivers!
..fast going there, Ray. The Caravans are among the easiest cars to change the driveshafts.. I always but a good dab of grease on the inner and outer splines to aid the shaft sliding in and also to hinder corrosion making possible future dissasembly a hard task, especially where roads are salted in winter..
I love the longer videos!
Me too. I love the super long ones. They're really relaxing to watch
Ray , your videos are very informative and interesting, thank you for sharing them with us. As far as I'm concerned you make them as long
as you like. Those with a short attention span are in the minority, I feel shore. Stay well stay safe. Greetings to the wife unit.
@ 3:50
Thank you for tha PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT! 😊😊😊
Your probably the only TH-camr that would take the time to produce and air a PSA.
I bet that most of your viewers understand the Blue light indicator. Unfortunately the people who really need to be educated about the meaning of the Blue light indicator have no clue your channel exists, and are too busy being rude to other's.
Have a great day Ray! 😊😊😊😊😊
Phenomena, do do do do. 2 days of rain and pea soup fog, mid 30's H/L's Wauconda.
Same in the mitten state!!!
i love the fact that the length of your videos has gone up
I’m in SW Washington. We are back to “norm” temps and rain. Last week was poop tho!
Love that you are awake, Ray. watching you in N Z.
High beams drive me nuts. But the bigger problem is cars that automatically turn on the headlights and NOT the taillights??? Why. Most people don’t even know the car is dark from the back.
Up here in minnesnowta yesterday (feb 6) was 50 and partially sunny, not a flake of snow on the ground.
I was working outside in a Tshirt.
I turn the blue light on because it looks pretty.
Hey Ray, it snowed last night and cold this morning, but it is sunny and warmer, about 36 here in Wyoming right now.
Hey you brought back the Brake Clean Sound effects!! Nice.
Good day Ray. I would like to see the longer videos. One hour or two hours , your videos are always very informative and interesting. I love your comments as well “ I blame the parents “ priceless. I’m sure nowadays, you can’t explain what you are doing, and why you are doing it. I for one would definitely love to see more clickages, with your torque wrench. I always look forward to watching your videos. Keep up the good work. Thanks
Southern Minnesota. 2 weeks ago, -10°F. Today +36°F. No snow left.
Its warm here plus 3 gonna be plus 10 on Monday in Canadia albertay
From Buffalo NY area and it has been rainy and foggy the last couple days. Around upper 30s.
It really is alarming how little so many people seem to know about even the BASICS of their vehicles.
You are only a good driver if you also can locate and fix problems on you're car
Your video lengths are fine Sir. They are in depth and impart much knowledge to those who watch and love them, like myself !
Hey Ray. It's warmer in Toronto today than it was in Treasure Island last Saturday!
Hi Ray, 40C in western Sydney Australia alot better today. Love your channel
Great video Ray, i've never seen a cv axle break like that. My oldest son owns 3 transmission shops and he says he has. Thanks for sharing Ray.
Another awesome diagnosis and replacement of c v shafts
Just drove across the mid-west, temps dropped to -6 to -12. Horrible weather, multiple cars, trucks, semi’s jackknifed, rolled over, lots of ice and snow. I’m glad we made it home safely.
A few days spraying orange groves with water to save the crop is better than 5 1/2 months of being beat down with frozen crap. Dripping down the neck. On every service. THINK SPRING. ! Good work Ray. Mass. Loves the channel.
always interesting to watch you figure out something that you haven't ever done... great job as always...
I hope the customer appreciates the fact that he/she got away with a cheap (potentially car scrap) repair.
Note: You have the aptitude to make a video entertaining.
Weather is all normal here in Colorado. -8 last week 50 this week. Snowed all morning this morning and was 60 by afternoon. Situation Normal.
i kind of like the longer videos, they aren't boring and i just find them entertaining and informative.
40 Degrees here in Denver, but for the Mile High City in January, that's SUPER warm!
When the polar Vortex hit, on the last day, it was actually colder in Denver than it was in Antarctica!!!
Ty for talking about the high beam light
Ray I'm retired, run these as long as you need to. Re the Northern temp. Here in Nova Scotia at 17:41 it is 0 C or 32 F. For you definitely freezing
Today (Jan. 26) at my ND farm I was 57 degrees warmer this afternoon than 9 days ago. This afternoon at 2 pm it was 37 F.
Another awesome video repairing Chrysler mini van
Thanks!
It's 60 degrees and raining here in Tennessee. Last week we had snow and temps in the high in the teens and low temps in single digits and below 0
High thirties in Wisconsin on Saturday, most of the 15" of snow in my yard has melted...
Currently it’s -40f in Fairbanks Alaska… wish its was 82 here! Love your videos keep it up
“They are not gonna not fix it right?”
Famous last words 😂
I initially thought this video was referring to the 3.6L V6 engine breaking in two. We have several Caravans at work that have many miles on them, however well maintained, with these engines and never a problem with the vehicles.
Hey Ray, Video time is just fine. don't worry too much about making longer videos. 1 hour is fine. if ppl want to skip stuff they have the power to do that. I personally enjoy the videos regardless of length.
Thank you Ray for the PSA about high and low beams.
Much needed PSA about high beams. Thanks Ray!
Awesome comment on the high beam/low beam usage!
No worries on the longer format. Makes listening at work easier.
I’m not complaining I love you long videos. I learn a lot and makes my job a little easier when I have to do my own.
it's currently 39 degrees by me in wisconsin right now. However it will fluctuate and we have colder temps coming again. At least they aren't in the negatives and are still positive so all is good lol!
Great video. Minor point, I would use a torque wrench for the wheel lug nuts set to 100 ft./lbs.
There is no real precision to an air impact wrench.
Fantastic ray! You did it again! Thanks!!!
Unusually nice this afternoon in SW Ontario, with sunshine and 41 F. Had rain overnight and sidewalks are mostly clear, which made for a nice walk.
Wow, that's some brutal front end work. Bravo!
Still in the 30's here in Moo Hampshire. After the last attempt to get home in snow and ice I ordered some snow chains. Now being the cheap RAcaseal unit I am... They're zip tie style tire units. And reusable. Might have to try them out on Monday.
Hi Ray
Love your show. Raining and mild for the last few days outside of Toronto On
Canada 5 degrees Celsius
American Pitbull, Japanese Tosa and now XL bully are banned in the UK. Too many bad people kept them and trained them for dog fighting, or as weapons, and there were too many human deaths, usually children, hence the ban.
