My grandfather bought one in 1995. A blue collar man his entire life, it was the first new car he’d ever bought…at 72 years old. While he really wanted the Buick Roadmaster, claiming they were the best cars on the road, we pushed him towards the Impala. It then became he and Grandmas road trip car. Celebrated their golden anniversary in Carmel California. He never let Grandma drive it. Saying it far too much power for her. Back then, Montana highway speed limits were “reasonable and prudent” meaning he’d let the LT-1 sing. That is until Grandma looked up from her knitting saying “WALTER” in her best angry tone. Grandpa would glance at us in the back seat cracking his sideways smile. Grandpa passed in 2011 but allowed me to care for it. Although it’s not nearly as clean today as Gabriel’s. It’s sure got a lot memories locked up inside.

Wish I would have kept it and swapped a limited slip rear with rear discs like the Impala and added the LT4 heads and intake etc. My wife even misses the car . Will be fun to watch this video.

My Dad bought my Mom a 95' SS Impala in Black Cherry and we loved it! I was a junior in high school and drove it all the time. I can confirm these cars stock for stock we're faster than the SN95 GT, Foxbody GT and Civic SI. It would do 158 mph stock and incredible powerslides and burnouts! Ours was ~6 months old with ~5000 miles when my Mom got here first flat in ours. My Dad instantly knew what happened and he didn't even get that mad cause he did burn outs in it too lol. The memories one of these brings back is amazing.

Maybe a bine stock automatic 5.0 Fox with a mediocre driver. An LX 5.0 T-5 notch is like a 1,000lbs lighter and has 225hp and 300tq, unless it had no traction and poor driving it should smoke a stock Impala SS. Uncle Tony was running low 13s with a 5.0 LX that only had minor tricks done with the stock parts and perfect driving.

My Dad used to let me take his 1970 GS 455 stage 1 out on Friday nights. Smoked a lot of Camaros Mustangs and Corvettes with it. That car had well over 500ftlb of torque. It was downright scary on cold tires. It had a big carb on it and long tube headers, we advanced the timing and ran it on high octane fuel.

I had a 95. Loved it. Because the Texas DPS also drove the black Caprice, ALL traffic would move over to let me pass. 25mpg on the freeway at 80. This is a heavy car with relatively small tires. The door sticker recommended air pressure was way too low. After I raised air pressure to 44 psi (sidewall limit), all was well, and the car cornered and braked far better too.

My parents had a fully loaded (minus the fake wood) Light Adriatic Blue 1994 Caprice Wagon with towing provisions. We still have the original 3 page window sticker. Options included upgraded brakes, self leveling air suspension, strengthened frame, oil cooler and transmission cooler, heavy duty cooling fan, 2.93:1 limited slip rear end, and the LT1. This is one of the last truly good sounding V8 equipped cars, in my opinion. I used to love listening to our car idle as a kid. Nice and smooth, deep, and subtle, until you floor it. Not much else can seat 9 people while towing 7000 pounds behind it. It was an incredibly solid car. We never had any major clunks, squeaks or rattles. No transmission issues or Optispark issues either, all the way to 150k when we got rid of it. In fact, I hadn't even heard mention of any of these issues until just a few years ago. Probably because they're now heavily used and abused by much younger and less responsible owners.

Once while leaving a concert, a group of police officers were directing traffic when they saw my SS they asked if i would pull off to the side so they could look at it, so i did. Also while in a Mc Donalds drive thru i had an Ohio State trooper pull up next to me and commented on how much he liked the car, i joked with him to pull me over sometime and i'll let you drive it. He waved and drove off. Good Times!

My dad had this in 1996. Drove it to 200k miles so he actually drove it. Believe it or not there are a lot of low mile or delivery mile cars still out there. When it came out people were speculating that it would be the last RWD American four door so 100s if not 1000s of speculators purchased them and stored them for years and years. I used to watch so many go up for sale in the early 2000s with delivery miles yet they never really commanded more than MSRP until later on which now is mostly adjusted for inflation. Again low mile cars are very common due to speculators.

My brother was a big man, so the security people thoroughly frisked him because they were afraid he was there to cause trouble. But he was both an artist and a custom car tinker. We went to admire the artwork. At the time, lowriders had the best and most intricate bodywork. And just amazing craftsmanship. I think he went away having made half a dozen friends. And he took the lessons learned to heart and applied them to subsequent projects. What a great time!

I was 11-13 years old when those Impala SS were new and I wanted one more than. Corvette, Camaro, Trans Am, Mustang, Viper...any of those things. When I got old enough to drive it was impossible for me to afford to insure much less buy any of the aforementioned cars. I tried to just find a Caprice or Roadmaster made between '92-'96 with a 350 and still couldn't find a decent car for a price I could afford. I eventually found out that the Crown Vic 4.6L were quicker than a 305 or 4.3L Caprice and I found a maroon '92 Crown Vic LX with 87K for $1,800 in 2002 when I was 19. I opened up the exhaust, gave it a good maintence service and it made me pretty happy. I ended up owning 4 Crown Vics and 2 Grand Marquis made between '92-'05 before I cpuld finally afford to buy and insure a Legend Lime '05 Mustang GT 4.6L 3V w/ a TR-3650, I had a '10 Mustang GT and an '11 5.0 after that. Eventually I found out that a car I had wanted since the end of the Impala SS was getting imported to the USA finally with a 6L L77 V8, the a Holden Caprice badged and LHD as a Chevrolet Caprice PPV. I finally got an Alto Grey '13 PPV in early 2014 w/ 800 miles. That was .y favorit car if all time. I ended up owning a '16 Chevrolet SS sedan and an '04 GTO T-56 after that and the PPV was still my favorite. Hopefully one day I will be able to find a nice '91-'96 Impala, Caprice, Roadmaster, Fleetwood. It's cool to see that Garbiel appreciates them.

I had the pleasure of driving an LT1 Chevrolet Impala patrol car for several years in the 1990's during my law enforcement career. We got them in their very first year when they still had the covering over the rear wheel and used them throughout the 1990's and into the early 2000's. They were by far the fastest patrol cars we ever had. And those LT1 engines were bulletproof (no pun intended). We had cars still on the street with a couple hundred thousand miles on them and they were still a fast patrol car, even with that much age and miles on them.
