I was rather unimpressed with Deadlock when I saw the leaked gameplay, but after I tried it for myself, I changed my mind - the game is amazing and feels like the "Next Big Thing" for multiplayer games. Thank you for helping me understand it better.

As someone who has played every flavor of MOBA consistently for over a decade, Marco's videos are... also extremely helpful! Deadlock is certainly a MOBA, but it's doing a lot of new and remixed things; the item shop is probably the most significant departure from conventional MOBA features, and most MOBAs don't have enough movement tech to even make a guide on 🤣. I'm honestly astounded how many bases Marco has been able to cover given how unique Deadlock is from anything that has come before. All of the MOBA experience in the world wouldn't suffice; the only explanation for the quality of his content is a lot of hard work and careful insight into these systems. He's teaching MOBA newbies and MOBA veterans alike on this brand new experience. I didn't know he existed 3 weeks ago but he's earned an emphatic sub; I foresee myself sharing his videos a lot in the near future.
I wasn’t a believer, until I got into a match, Deadlock is peak, if this is what you want to do with your channel, PLEASE DO it is your career to pilot, not the passengers, and I need vids on this now anyway 😂
watched you from the division to this, actually really liking these guides since most other guides are just people using their gameplay and rambling for 30 minutes keep it up man
one cool thing I noticed is that when you die, you can see a breakdown of what percentage of damage you took was from bullet damage vs from spirit damage. I use that to decide if I should rush bullet armor or spirit armor. It can be really hard to tell when fights get super chaotic.
you can also press tab and check what items the enemy team is buying -- if they all have huge yellow bars, get bullet armor; if they have purple, spirit
Already learned something new - I couldn't figure out if / how weapon damage scaled melee and now it's a lot clearer. Was never sure if I had to specifically choose melee damage items, or if weapon damage flat applied too, or what.
If you're going to correct the grammar, I would expect you to point out that a semi-colon would be more appropriate as well. Otherwise, adding a comma before boys wouldn't really work that well. : ) @disbled

these are some excellent videos - I especially love the approach of going over some items in more detail to get an idea of how they generally work so we can know what to look for ourselves, which is important since there'll be tons of patches and changes coming up and it's probably worth more to understand how to properly "read" the items rather than knowing everything inside out. Great job. : ) Thanks for your effort!

I've never played a MOBA before Deadlock, so these videos have been super useful. I'm really looking forward to a video on Pocket - I've been trying to learn him recently.
20:08 Always. Get. Boots. Movement speed might not seem like a powerful stat in other FPS games, but in a MOBA it is crucial. Time spent walking between lanes is time wasted. And think of it this way: if everyone on the enemy team has increased movement speed and you don't, it's like playing with a permanent slow debuff.
Quick tip that I haven't seen many people doing, if you want to quickly unlock/upgrade one of your abilities (in slot 1,2,3,4) you can actually click ALT+(the number) of your desired ability rather than holding ALT and then using your mouse mid way through combat :) It might not seem much of a difference but you don't have to pause what you're doing if your fighting someone etc.
Thanks for the Guides Man! Been Learning sooo much from you, especially the Movement Guide! I'm not used to games like Overwatch and Paladins, so learning how you evade and using the slopes to your advantage really helped me improved! Happy Gaming! 🙇♂👑
cool videos dude! Just started the game myself too and honestly learned a lot by just your simple yet informative videos - things which even the tutorials failed me to teach properly. If you ever get a chance, I (and I hope others too) would love to see if you do Individual agent / player breakdown in depth so that we know how to use that agent more properly as well (with all their abilities and how to use them properly, whom they are best/worst against, their pros/cons etc).
Great guide, well done keeping it to the basics and not getting lost in the details, at that point theres too many variances like in all moba games. Really enjoyed. Thank you for your tme and hard work.
I've spent 90% of my time in sandbox trying to understand item builds instead of actually playing so thank you for this. Hi! At 6:12 you mentioned that the t1 item extra spirit is more cost efficient than t4 item boundless spirit. Even though that is the case for the spirit stat alone, I think it's not fair to ignore the other stats in boundless spirit as well! But point taken, t1 items are super important and shouldn't be ignored!
This is the only guide you need to understand the game actually, everything well explained if you listen everything he says you already know how to play a normal game 😂

Should everyone be coming back to defend patron or should some people maintain lanes. When should i be jungling when winning when losing? All your videos have been a big help!
The spirit multiplier doesn't necessarily tell us much about how well something scales with spirit. Consider a low damage, fast-hitting move, like Abram's 1. The spirit multiplier is low, but if we consider the number of hits, increasing our spirit will have a big impact on our damage.
great video thank you good call on not explaining each and every item, actually teaching us how to think is much more beneficial, i'm not as intimidated as i was before from the item shop
Honestly I think if there's anything that can help a player improve their ability in this game it would be developing a better understanding of the shop. Because of how essential it is to doing better. But I do think for new players especially if can be very daunting, because of just how many different and situational items there are. But I guess the best general advice is knowing what items are good for the characters you play as. And if you're doing well and not dying a lot, go for damage boosting items (either weapon damage if most of your damage comes from your weapon or spirit items if you're abilities do most of the damage.) and if you're having trouble staying alive or forced to play defensive, go for vitality items to make you hard to kill.
Breaking the items down like that was really helpful. Seeing that I'm not wasting money by buying a bunch of T1 items sounds good. 😅 Will still be confusing to estimate power gains with the inate power we gain from character "levels". But I guess that will come over time. Souls beeing the only currency for xp and buying items is really interesting. But takes a bit to get used to.
Knockdown is very underated in low rank pub match. Seven is the biggest problem at those rank and that item screws him over. Also nice against Vindicta and Grey to knock them out of the sky.
*what im trying to wrap my head around: weapon damage Percentage* my understanding is that when i deal *100dmg per Bullet* and get *10% weapon damage* i deal *110dmg*, right? - So what if i get another percentage item. like *5%* Does the game first add both together and *add 15% to my 100dmg* or first the *10%* and the *5% on top* of that. next thing. does the percentage go on my damage at the end? so on top of everything or is it based on the item buy order? - so i deal 100dmg. buy 10% and deal 110dmg. i buy plus 10 dmg. what now? // 10% on 110 dmg or +10dmg on 110dmg? (my math abilities are basically non existent so all thing might make -0 sense but even if this qestion stupido question id like to understand ^^)
Its insane that this game has a constant above 100k players while being invite only. The game will definetely be huge on release and will be for years. Idk if its gonna be the most played of all mobas but its gonna be counted as one of the moba giants
31:52 I'm pretty sure that resist stacking multiplicatively means having resist *doesn't* make other resist items stronger. Each individual source of resistance will make you take x% less damage than you would have taken without it, regardless of what your resist stat is. It's true that each percentage of resist closer to 100% is stronger, but items stacking multiplicatively eqivalently counteracts that by giving you less percentage points the closer you are to 100%. It's only when resist stacks additively that resistance items are more effective together.
Deadlock tracker shows how each item affects winrates. These will be scewed a bit due to people buying win more items when they are winning and expensive items only when they are ahead, but its good for the 500 items and the 1250s
I'm guessing the effective hp formula bit works out because effective hp can also be translated as damage taken, and effectively speaking the higher the damage you take the more valuable each point of resistance becomes relative to the last, thus increasing your effective hp. The damage you resist is even exascerbated more by the fact that you get more health from levels and items as the game progresses thus giving the rough idea that you are 3 times as tanky.
I was rather unimpressed with Deadlock when I saw the leaked gameplay, but after I tried it for myself, I changed my mind - the game is amazing and feels like the "Next Big Thing" for multiplayer games. Thank you for helping me understand it better.

Knockdown is very underated in low rank pub match. Seven is the biggest problem at those rank and that item screws him over. Also nice against Vindicta and Grey to knock them out of the sky.
*what im trying to wrap my head around: weapon damage Percentage*
my understanding is that when i deal *100dmg per Bullet* and get *10% weapon damage* i deal *110dmg*, right?
You can always see the total weapon damage on the side. Weapon damage is added additively. so 100% + 5% = 105%.
Not a fan of the deadlock video spam given your previous channel direction, but if it works out for you i'm glad. I'll be missing your videos.
I hope at some point they update the item icons to be a little more distinct. This video is a great help though.
Thanks!
And thank you too!
Amazing guide! Just what I was looking for. Do you also plan on making a guide on matchups?
Deadlock tracker shows how each item affects winrates. These will be scewed a bit due to people buying win more items when they are winning and expensive items only when they are ahead, but its good for the 500 items and the 1250s
Love the in depth guides man!, will you make one on how to itemize/counter and play around certain heroes?
Finally a item shop video
great video, would be great if you can make a beginners guide to what all the characters do
I'm guessing the effective hp formula bit works out because effective hp can also be translated as damage taken, and effectively speaking the higher the damage you take the more valuable each point of resistance becomes relative to the last, thus increasing your effective hp. The damage you resist is even exascerbated more by the fact that you get more health from levels and items as the game progresses thus giving the rough idea that you are 3 times as tanky.
insanely good guide
Excellent video - thank you!
Another banger from Marco ❤
