I waited until the end of the video for the huge mistake but it turns out it is something that one really cannot avoid. I will be thankful just flying business class for anything.
I regularly fly from Bangkok to Amsterdam 5 times a year, but switched from KLM to EVA AIR, because sometimes you sit in a Premium seat and pay Business class
Enjoyed your video and your engaging presentation style (despite the annoying click bait title!) The only problem (I don't think) you allude to is that even if you think you are booked on a flight with the new seats there is always the possibility of equipment change. We are booked for 2025 AMS-BKK and hoping all the 777-300's that they normally use on this route have all been retrofitted with the new product. Last year we were booked on AF PE to BKK and when we initially booked it was showing a PE configuration that had new seats but after a few months it was changed to show the old configuration. Not a lot you can really do about that!
I am flying business class on this layout with KLM next month...Toronto to Amsterdam... I have an Aisle seat.. so when I sleep and fully reclined in bed.. if the person by the window wants to go to the washroom, that means he or she will have to wake me up to go out... that is incredibly frustrating!!!
The 2-class Emirates 777-300ER has a similar configuration where they had one row of business class past the second door. The other con about it besides what you pointed out is it could be a fairly long walk to the toilet/lavatory since there is no bulkhead (all business class toilets in that kind of Emirates 777 are right in front). That issue does not seem to apply to you as you have a toilet right in front of your row.
If there is a long line at the check-in desk, then recommend going to the Delta One desk at JFK. KLM World Business Class is also welcome there. It is right next to the security so you'll get to skip the line.
Nice video and it is good to hear that you had a wonderful experience with KLM. I fly them quite often in BC to different destinations in Africa, but must say that the service of the Cabin Crew gets worse by every single flight. The hard product is cool, we love the 2-2-2 configuration in the 777 because you can sit together at the window travelling as a couple. In their 787 it is not possible. We also love the Mini Cabin. But as you said, avoid it at night flights, because the Cabin Crew is always so loud and they don't care about it. Especially all these old Cabin Crew members only rush through the plane with their unfriendly grumpy faces. On my flight to Johannesburg 4 weeks ago the average age of the cabin crew was definatly over 60. And they just lost all passion and joy.
What the cabin layout is depends on the aircraft and which version of seating the aircraft has. Many of the 777s have the 2-2-2 configuration whereas the 787s have 1-2-1. That mini cabin is also much noisier as it is nearer the engines. Note since you flew KLM have changed their ticketing. The cheaper business class fares do not have all the amenities including no free seat selection.
KLM has announced that their 777's will be renewed; the newest KLM world Business Class (with a door) + the brand new Premium Comfort class. Their 777's will be 'under maintenance' after the 787's get their brand new Premium comfort class and in 2024 every KLM plane will be on 787 standards!
Haha yeah it’s a wonder we even got in! Delta Sky Clubs have gotten so crowded that they’ve implemented all these restrictions on who can and can’t enter!
Love KLM and their merch on board. As someone who does the points game with Flying Blue you can snag seats like this for 3 people for about 90k miles plus $450 cash for taxes and surcharges one way or 180k miles r/t. KLM and Air France are now under the same umbrella. I was able to snag AF BIZ seats NYC to CDG for 165k flying blue miles plus $605. Total amount without points would have been over 10k. I know you said, you hate the points game but you guys fly so much you should really get into it!

I flew on KLM at the end of 2022, the flight to AMS was on the 787-10 and then I flew on to CPT on the 777. I really hated the seats on the 777 with the 2-2-2 configuration. I'll try to avoid flying on there 777 again until the finish the retrofits. The 787s have 1-2-1 configuration and those seats were really good. The catering on both flights were good. Transiting AMS was not great, there were no showers available.

Haha I’m actually not sure! I didn’t keep them but they do look kind of disposable / one use. I know on Turkish Airlines our flight attendant told us we could keep the shakers. So maybe yes?
Ask about transit in Frankfurt 🙂 we was in queue and suddenly the passport officer said bye I finished my work 🤔 and we changed to other queue and it’s happened again so I missed my flight… the next time the passport control asked me why you are coming and how long and I should to show them all my booking reservations … horrible airport

Wondered if you gotten clearance for filming in-flight. Because the last time I was flying with KLM, i took a quick snap to send to my family that I'm boarding. But was promptly asked to step aside to delete that photo, very persistent as well. Crew was quite adamant that i delete it, which kinda put me off for the entire flight. 😮💨
Shooting on flights is always a bit tricky. Every creator handles this differently, but what we usually do is give the crew a heads up as early on in the flight as possible that we are making a video about our family’s trip. We let them know that we will not film other passengers or the crew, usually puts them at ease right away. I think they just want to know that you are not trying to catch them making mistakes and then posting that on socials. But then again, sometimes you just encounter really grumpy flight attendants, and they just don’t want any photos or videos happening at all on the flight. So I suspect you may have encountered one of those!
One more tip is that I try to make sure I’m not filming the crew as we are first boarding the aircraft and they are standing there greeting passengers. I’ll either turn the camera off or just point it at my feet during that time. Because that often puts them on edge from the very first moment.
kLM for the last couple of years have made announcements at the start of the flight to not take photo's of other pax or staff without permission. Which is good should not be filmed here without their consent

You should be able to lounge hop within alliances, like on star alliance and one world, I lounge hop depending on airline in airports like istanbul or bangkok you have many choices

As of this month, all Business Class seats in the KLM B777s will be replaced by new seats with sliding doors and direct aisle access. In addition, a new class will be added, the Premium Economy.
Great review, hopefully on the next trip our family of 3 can also fly this product. 12K for the family is definitely out of our range, but this seems doable using points. Flying Blue points are super easy to accumulate. We really enjoyed the Air Europa business product last summer, this product seems nicer. Hopefully their award availability is solid.

KLM deleted my baggage claim incident and never responded to me. I am never flying with them ever again. It is difficult as a 19 year old flying alone for the first time. My computer was destroyed and my baggage was soaking wet after being left in the rainstorm outside in Vienna. I urge you to save your time, frustration, and money and never fly KLM.
i have many positive experiences with KLM transatlantic business class. Great service. Good food. Friendly crew. BUT...the seats!! Worn hollow. The hard edge cuts off ones circulation behind the knees. I once had a seat that was so uncomfortable (collapsing to one side) that I had to complain to the head stewardess. She thought I was exagerating so I stood up and invited her to try it. She did and was both apologetic and embarassed but nothing could be done. A 9 hour flight with no sleep and lingering back ache.
I flew KLM JFK-AMS years ago. Worst crew ever. Bitter, older ladies who long before forgot that they were the face of KLM. Out of thousands of flights this one stands out as the very worst.

Skip the filler to 12:30 . The mistake is the seats are better on the 787, this video was 777. Same price inferior product.
Went on KLM to Poland last year.. They were so amazing and gave me a Thank You Package with a handwritten letter.. and I was economy!

The new @klm 777 business class individual seats (with door) is even better than 787. I do recommend you to fly again!

I just booked a KLM business class flight to Vegas. It's a 787 in a 1-2-1 configuration.
All that stress for business class passengers..I hope that the economy passengers had no noise and hustle from the crew.
