@@urbanprojectz True. And I made my comment based on my many flights with KLM. Can you share some example of such "poor service" with the scope of KLM?
@@_w_w_ yeah of course, they are too direct. The older staff make it feel like they are your friends parents. There are much better business class products. They left a disabled man on a flight I was on without assisting him to get off, he was helped by others. The list goes on, you can make a cute collection of Dutch houses as gifts but that’s about it.
I tend to try to book KLM if I'm flying to and from Europe, after the treatment I received during the 2010 snows. On trip to Finland, our flights kept being cancelled but KLM continually kept us updated and transfered us to other flights, eventually even putting us up overnight for a transfer to London, where there was no snow, so we could get to Finland. On the way back our flight from Amsterdam to Edinburgh was cancelled, again due to snow, and so KLM not only arranged an alternative flight for the next morning but gave us a change of clothes and put us up in what turned out to be a 5 star resort hotel for the night...all on the reasoning that we had paid to travel, and the cancellation wasn't our fault. I was so pleased with that service I've stuck with them where possible.
KLM looks like a fantastic choice. I Especially like the crew having enough pride in their product to show off the sleeping quarters of the crew. Only a prideful employee and carrier is willing to do such. 👍
Well.. it s not just being proud. In Holland we are encouraged to work in the sector that fits us best, with the security that if that kind of job doen't pay as much, there is a possibility of a safety net in the form of goverment support (for housing, tax breaks etc). So unlike in many other countries we work because we want to, not because we'd otherwise strave, so we re not forced to do whatever pays best even if we hate it. We're also a pretty direct and open group of people. There are even TV programs with hidden camera's where someone rings a bel at a random house and asks to join for dinner. We're pretty welcoming in general.
I recently flew with KLM to Costa Rica in Business Class on the 787 -9. The flight was excellent and so were the crew. Unfortunately on the return leg the aircraft developed a serious problem. The flaps were stuck on the left wing and would not retract. We had to dump all our fuel and make an emergency landing in Panama City, it was terrifying! However, I cannot stress strongly enough that the entire crew were FANTASTIC, they remained so calm and professional, they also were honest and kept us well informed throughout. I wouldn’t want to go through it again but I am glad that I had such a professional group looking after me during the experience. I wouldnt hesitate to fly KLM again…….great airline!
@@DenienN the 737 has particular problems arguably from trying to electronically paper over cracks created by evolving an old design too far. In particular to compete you now need efficient engines = high bypass = large diameter fan blades = a big engine. This requires a level of ground clearance the 737 was originally designed without, forcing Boeing to mount the engines on pylons extending further forward in front of the wing to give space to get the engines far enough up above the ground. Some dynamic issues follow from that. These considerations do not apply to clean sheet designs like the 787 where the designers were well aware of the need to accommodate modern large diameter fan engines from the start. However I can see why you might want to protest Boeing's handling of the issues with the electronic coping mechanism as they emerged.
Have flown the KLM 787-10 a number of times from Houston to Amsterdam. Nice aircraft and Business class seats very private and comfortable. Always great service.
The covid restrictions have been lifted completely since this February in the Netherlands. Pretty sure the main destination airport for KLM (Schiphol) has been stacked and packed with travelers for 5 or 6 months already. 😉
Being a local I almost exclusively fly KLM. On many occasions I was offered an upgrade to business class at very low prices (some 200 euro for a Amsterdam Jakarta flight for instance). No matter which carrier the service has always been impeccable, the food and wine selection great. Small correction on the delft blue houses offered - it does not contain gin but "jenever" (also some juniper flavored very traditional Dutch strong drink, traditionally sold in stone bottles).
Great vlog mate ,as usual really enjoyed that. I had a back to back flights with KLM and agree that the customer service is very good. I have not flown on the 787 yet so enjoyed seeing your experience. KLM are a great airline.
I have just flown in this gorgeous business class from SF to Amsterdam. Your review is spot on! Thank you for your honesty and all you do to help us, regular folks. I have two gin houses and counting..
the service on this flight seems incredible the crew seemed so kind to you. I love how you give feedback to the airline showing that you actually want these kinks to be worked out so that us viewers are actually informed about the product/airline
Great video - glad you enjoyed the hospitality KLM is known so well for. Also some good news: KLM is retrofitting their 777's with new Business Class seats (all direct aisle access like on the Dreamliner) which should be finished by next year. This is also when all their long haul aircraft (except the A330 as they're being phased out) have been fitted with the newly introduced Premium Economy product
Some more info from a dutch person about your "disappointing the chocolate is Belgium and not Dutch" at 08:15, the houses are shaped as classic Dutch house from example in Amsterdam. The "Belgium" part just shows quality of the chocolate.
Me and my friend went to NY last year (we live in Germany) and on my way back I decided to upgrade to business. It was my first time in business class ever, generally I don't earn that much to be able to afford such expenses but that one time was so great! And this video makes me smile! I only wished I could take my parents with me as they had never experienced such classy flight. EDIT: when you said "filled with GIN" I froze. I never knew there was anything inside. I run to the kitchen where the little house has it's place on the counter...... and IT HAD GIN IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU!!!
Are you sure they serve gin, rather than the original Dutch drink the Brits stole it from...jenever? It would be a shame if a Dutch company preferred a foreign product over the original, since there are little differences. Missed chance perhaps, or availability/prices. We are ofcourse famously stingy ofcourse.
That little house is a typical house you see like for example in Amsterdam. The tiles in the safety video are also typicall Dutch. Also the white and blue is typical Dutch. Its called " delfst blauw".
Three months ago I flew with AF A-350 to São Paulo and with KLM B777 back to Europe and I must say that I prefer KLM, specially the seat is better for my body type. I really don’t mind someone else sitting next to me, when there is at least some distance. My next flights are going to be KLM both ways.
Looks like you had an awesome crew who made sure you got "the full treatment", which included the viewing of the crew sleep area. Wicked cool!! Price though...OUCH! Nice touch with the Gin house at the end. Haha. I've never flown KLM or Air France...but have heard very good things about both, so not surprised.
As a frequent flyer, I thoroughly enjoyed my recent KLM flights YYZ-AMS-MAN and return in Business Class. The 787-10 is a remarkable airplane I was reminded of the "old days" of first class travel and was most impressed with the inflight service, the quality of the food and the attitude of the staff. They were amazing. My first time flying with KLM in Business Class, definitely not my last. Bravo KLM for a terrific product.
Thanks for posting this as I was wondering about how good their business class was for a long haul flight I am planning. Great review and thanks for the view of the lounge.
the houses on the wall in the loo are reminiscent of the souvenir liquor bottles you used to be able to get on KLM flights. We inherited a collection of 4 from my grandparents they got in the 1950's.
I definitely prefer the 1 - 2- 1 layout on the newer 777 and 787. I HATE 2 - 2- 2 because it means if you aren't traveling with someone, you're forced to endure someone for the duration of the flight. Save the center rows for couples. Keep the windows for singles. I also vastly prefer the sunshade on the A350 and the A380.
KLM is my favourite airline, I’m over in Holland 4 or 5 times a year and wouldn’t fly anyone else going there. Had a few transit flights with them for longer trips and always found the crews to be brilliant. What stood out for me was a flight back from Holland in economy, the person next to me was clearly on a comedown from his activities in Holland and was quite restless, the crew spotted I was quite uncomfortable, and offered me a available seat in business, without me even saying anything about the situation. Whilst inter European business is just economy with the middle seat blocked, the gesture was well appreciated.
I think it takes a true lover of these birds to appreciate the tarmac and vast collection of planes that are there, like you do. I find that innocent appeal and passion to be refreshing in your uploads.

KLM intercontinental business class had the BEST apple pie. I highly recommend to try it if it's available, oh and ask for vanilla ice-cream to go with it too.
i remember going to finalnd in september and the crew asking why i was going there and i was visiting a friend of mine and they were really happy for me and wished me a good time
Over a 20 years period I flew klm economy ca 13 times return to Capetown from Berlin via Amsterdam. The last return trip business class. Ive never bern able to fault them, one time used Lufthansa, once was enough sadly. Sadly not travelled through Corona period. Now can travel but am not willing to put up with the hastle at Airports nowadays. Used to travel more than 5 times a year, as retired on short and longhall destinations vacation flights. Quite like British Airways but avoid Air France.

Previously I've tried holding my camera with my hands against the window, but the vibration makes the footage unusable and just makes my hand ache. Any tips would be very helpful. Thanks
Awesome review. I would love to see a WestJet business review if it happens to be in the cards. You seem to be one of the most honest when it comes to premium products
Can't wait to see the california zephyr trip - love the idea of cross country trains and I'd like to see your opinion on it! Thanks for all the great videos!
I'm surprised by the price , I'm researching rates to Bali and Jakarta and KLM are usually amongst the cheaper, 16 hour flights for around £2000-2500 return from London. Great review, the delft blue houses are collector's items. Glad you enjoyed my former national airline. Try Garuda sometime ? Longhaul?
It is crazy the difference in price. A trip on KLM cost me around $2,000 in business to the US and same trip on Delta was around $8,000. I flew Delta here and immediately called and requested the KLM 787 on the way back. Delta are light years behind KLM on service
My one and only international flight was with KLM from Sydney to Netherlands where i changed to a English Airline to the UK I flew economy but i found the crew friendly and helpful this was in mid 90s was a return too i am English nut left at age 4 this was first trip back at age 44
Love your videos! Have you had a chance yet to try the new business class in Air Europa? I'm flying them in October from Madrid to Miami and have not found any reviews on TH-cam yet!
Hey, really like your honest reviews ! The 787’s crew rest area, in my opinion, is the worst and was a huge disappointment, even in the aging A330 it is more comfortable ! Never had proper rest on the “Dreamliner” (I’m a F/A working for the French cousin of KLM ;) ). The best is the 77W’s which is also “upstairs”.
We have booked with KLM for the first time. Birmingham to Amsterdam and then 4 days later Amsterdam to Glasgow. They have already "cancelled "the AMS-GLA flight. No, not really they have moved us from a morning flight to mid-afternoon which had us changing plans. Not too impresse so far. We'll see what happens.
So my experience with KLM business class on the 787, a few times now, is quite correct. I think I was on a slightly different variety of the same aeroplane. Thanks for praising our pride airline 😀🇳🇱
great video. I will be flying with KLM soon. How do you deal with flight anxiety and nervousness about Turbulence. This flight I will be on is about 9 hours to AMS and Then another 6 to DXB. I am not 100% confident in myself because I am concerned about turbulence while flying. Especially on a flight this long
Hi Will, Just wanted to know, what website do you use to book these flights? Are the prices less or normal? I would like to know which website to use to save the most money. Thanks a lot and your videos make me smile every time 😃!!
From what I have seen it isn't worth paying for business class on short flights. The lounge gives bragging rights but if the food on board is worth having then food in the lounge is not necessary. I usually fly business non stop London to Bangkok return, once a year. There were no direct flights last year so I have a return ticket on Emirates cattle class but I am hoping that I can get a direct flight so will not to need to use it.
I’m from the Netherlands and choose delta business (one) over klm business any day of the week. The klm staff also has a certain attitude that is a lot less sincere than the delta. Last but not least with delta you can personalize your seat a lot more detailed as klm seats and you get more drinks and food offered.
Klm is really nice. I’ve only flown with them in economy but the staff has always been very kind and attentive, the food pretty good, and no matter how short the flight is, you get a complementary sandwich. Any news of the flights I’ve been immediately notified of by the app and by text. So yeah, bit pricy, but good stuff.
I used to fly KLM regularly between Geneva and Amsterdam. For a 90 minute flight in exactly the same seat, I decided to use only economy. For a time, this worked fine. I am handicapped and apply for assistance. But KLM changed the rules. Handicapped people flying economy can no longer use priority check in, but have to stand in the long line. When boarding, they can no longer join the group with children that goes first. OK, I decided to get settled in my seat the way I was always used to. Of course, this held up boarding, but it was KLM that should have thought of this. Brussels Airlines is a great alternative, and even a bit cheaper!
yes I do think that in terms of theoretical Elegance KLM is the best in Europe. somehow the fact that it's from the Netherlands and also the blue Livery just makes me think that the airline would be really elegant and they appear to be standing up to that.
Great stuff Will! You're one of the only ppl that actually give their honest feedback. Shows that you genuinely care about informing consumers. Also, if you don't pin this comment, the Supreme Leader will be cross! 😈
Bro do you ever like... do anything in the countries you travel to? It seems like throwing up some related videos would be cheap and expand your channel.

I love the KLM crew.
Nice trip report. Will try KLM's C class in June on the ORD-AMS leg of my trip.
Awesome review. I would love to see a WestJet business review if it happens to be in the cards. You seem to be one of the most honest when it comes to premium products
Nice detail: the tiles from the safety video are real and you can find them all in the KLM crown lounge.
Love that! Will look out for them next time
Can't wait to see the california zephyr trip - love the idea of cross country trains and I'd like to see your opinion on it! Thanks for all the great videos!
My first experience with KLM Business class at the Boeing 787-10 is next year in August from Amsterdam to Los Angeles. So excited❤️✈️
Hey Mr. Trek!!! Good to see a new upload. I really enjoy your content. Cheers Mate!!!
8:08 The cheese could be Dutch, but the chocolates must be Belgian! That means that you've been served with the best!😋😉
My one and only international flight was with KLM from Sydney to Netherlands where i changed to a English Airline to the UK I flew economy but i found the crew friendly and helpful this was in mid 90s was a return too i am English nut left at age 4 this was first trip back at age 44
excellent as ever - your videos are by far the most enjoyable in this genre. BTW - are you doing dry January (or dry January 30th)?
Love your videos! Have you had a chance yet to try the new business class in Air Europa? I'm flying them in October from Madrid to Miami and have not found any reviews on TH-cam yet!
the best youtuber on this planet as well as flight youtuber I also am so excited whenever a new video comes out keep up the good work man!
I thought the FAs make the bed as it is “a royal Dutch airline”😊
There was 100% percent a Doug de muro reference in there and you can not tell me otherwise “quirks and features” iconic
It absolutely was 😃
Flown this a few times and KLm is my favourite airline
You, and Jeb Brooks, are my fav aviaton reviews
Thank you so much for watching my friend 🙏🏼
great video. I will be flying with KLM soon. How do you deal with flight anxiety and nervousness about Turbulence. This flight I will be on is about 9 hours to AMS and Then another 6 to DXB. I am not 100% confident in myself because I am concerned about turbulence while flying. Especially on a flight this long
As a Torontonian, this is the flight I want to do. Thanks for the tour!
What a treat 2 vids in close succession.
How about doing a Dave Portney Grade scale like one bite , everybody knows the rules (EG:-7.8 flight overall
i will soon be going on flight buissness class. i cant wait! glad this was a good reveiw😀
It’s nice to see a new airline on your channel. Thanks for the review.
Hi Will,
Just wanted to know, what website do you use to book these flights?
I only fly KLM when possible, crew always nice and the little houses are the best airline collectors item
Great to have had you on the flight Will. See you next time 👍
First time booking a international business flight, glad I found your page
Hi, nice comprehensive review. Would love to see your review on Air France A350 Business Class ! Thanks 🙂
Brussels Airlines is a great alternative, and even a bit cheaper!
yes I do think that in terms of theoretical Elegance KLM is the best in Europe. somehow the fact that it's from the Netherlands and also the blue Livery just makes me think that the airline would be really elegant and they appear to be standing up to that.
you got to my home country the netherlands!! love it!!
Lovely food and friendly crew. Thank you Will.
🤟KLM!! flexibility in tickets and always collecting the little figurines on business class.an underated airline i would say, lovely staff
awesome review! and also, whats the music called that was used in 0:49?
Dang back to back video release nice man!!!
Thanks bro - I can’t say I can keep it up haha it’s been two very long days of editing. Hope you like them :)
Love your videos can you try SAS a350 business class?
I live in the US and I fly pretty often with them to Europe. Almost all the time with them. It’s always good
Great stuff Will! You're one of the only ppl that actually give their honest feedback. Shows that you genuinely care about informing consumers. Also, if you don't pin this comment, the Supreme Leader will be cross! 😈
Finnair is renewing their long haul cabins. Yoy should try it out later this year
That Canada transfer looked so stressful..thanks for your dedication! Great review as always!
Bro do you ever like... do anything in the countries you travel to? It seems like throwing up some related videos would be cheap and expand your channel.
