    is it possible to fish salmon with a twin power pg or does it have to be a high gear reel? My rod is 18-56g is ok?

    Ah thought i recognised that gravel, probably met you on the bank down there. How did your season pan out i never really put in any hours this season once the low water hit in april/may but did have a few good sea trout to 4lb on the fly, then it seems to have not stopped raining and we've had high water for ages.
    Was up the Endrick earlier and had one good pull and seen a few fish move but no joy, maybe get one or 2 days in to save the blank this season.

      Apologies @ross, I don’t check the channel as much as I should - just seen a comment there and seen there were quite a few I never got around to replying to including yours. We have most likely had a chat down on the bank as that was the main area I stuck to. My season was a bit of a write off that year, just didn’t put the hours in and once COVID came around I sort of lost the bug. Managed a few Sea trout earlier in the season but nothing substantial. Didn’t fish at all this season but hoping to get back on it for next season. Hope your season improved and you had a good 2021 season and have managed to keep safe. Once again, apologies for not getting back to you sooner.

      @@lburton8369 No need to apologise mate.
      Low water all year but the most amount of fish we've seen in 15+ years but they just wouldn't touch anything, Ive done not bad considering the water levels but Ive put in a lot of hours over the summer, water is high now and all the fish we had hanging around have moved off up stream so I doubt ill catch anything else unless I venture up the endrick.
      Had 7 for my season so far including a monster farmed fish of 26lb in the low water during the summer which made things interesting landing it 3 pools down stream.
      Hopefully you get more time next season and ill see you down the river.

      @@ROSSLINDEN0 - That’s sounding really promising if there were a lot of fish in the river. Just a shame they weren’t for taking. The Endrick is always worth a shot at this time of year, hopefully you manage a few more days on the river before the season ends. That’s good going mate as does sound like it was tough if they weren’t for touching anything. Wow! That sounds like a monster for sure, congratulations! I bet that must’ve given some fight - would’ve been a relief to get it in the net. Definitely, looking forward to getting back to it. Take care and I’ll see you down there. Good luck for the rest of the season 👍🏻

    Since adding a second split ring on my tobies, I find I bump off far less fish as the second ring eliminates the leverage the fish has with tobies. I would recommend you do the same to yours.

    • @lburton8369
      @lburton8369  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, I’m late too! I have the two piece and think it’s great. I’m not sure what the 4 piece Daiwa is like but I have a few other 4 piece rods and they’re great for travelling or when you need to do a bit of walking to get to the spot as they fit in a back pack etc. I guess it just depends what you’re looking for but I do like the compact size of 3/4 piece rods.

      I opted for the 4 piece rod due to wanting the easier transportation advantages when it comes to putting the rod in car in the boot etc. One gripe I have out of the 2 rods is the 2 piece is rated 10-60g the 4 piece is 20-60g.

    Hi bud! I must ask can you find some 4g Abu tobys for sale? I found one in an old fishing box I was given and I love it but I can't seem to find any as they are discontinued I believe

    • @lburton8369
      @lburton8369  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I think the 4g Abu Toby lures have maybe been discontinued. Had a wee look online and couldn’t see any but the Glasgow Angling Centre sell 4g tobys, brand is called lure flash and they’re £1.25 each. If you have a look on their site you might find some colours that will work for you. The lures should be fine but might need better hooks. eBay is worth a shot too. Hope that helps 👍🏻

      You make a fair point. I’ve fished this river for years and I’ve never caught, seen or heard of pike being caught in here. If I though catching a stray pike was a possibility then I would definitely have a wire leader rigged up.

      @@lburton8369 I bought the Vanford C5000xg to pair it up with my 10 foot rod. But I sent it back... personal preference with most fishing tackle isnt it, I know the C stands for compact in Shimano lettering for reels. Even for a 5000 reel it seemed so small when I attached it to the rod. It just didn't look right. Is your reel in the video a ci 14 4000 older model. The reel body looks bigger than the C5000xg Vanford. I was wondering if just a normal Stradic or Vanford 4000 without the (c) compact sizing would be like your size reel on the video? I am going to use a Penn spinfisher 4500 it's got a bigger body design & bigger line capacity spool. I know the Spinfisher is semi sealed for saltwater etc but it's tough and more durable which is what I would prefer over refinement. I haven't really found any freshwater designed spinning reels I really like. Plus I don't like graphite. Any reels you could recommend? Sorry that's like loads of questions ha
