A great use case for the poison spear is against mobs that flee, to slow them down. Prime Apes are the main mob I've used it against, though it could be useful for the Tiger Shark too. If she is not immune, the poison would make it easier to follow her (or prevent her escape). Either way, the poison spear it great for a 1st attack, before swapping to a stronger weapon.
Its so sad that poison is so easy to cure, is a very challenging mechanic, but its pointless because the cure is all around you and it makes itens that prevent it obsolete :(

I think snake oil can also cure poison, but its an incredibly rare drop from snakes
The whole point of snake oil is that it does nothing. You know, like how "Snake Oil Salesmen" sell bogus products.
