First time making a guide video. Hopefully you guys found it useful. Feel free to add anything I forgot in the comments below :) Also, if anyone is wondering what's happened to the current series of Shipwrecked on the channel, I had to put my modded series on hold because the main mod I was using isn't working (for the past 3 weeks) and my series as Wigfrid has so many bugs that I'm not sure if I'll continue it or not :(
DemonRebuilt You can't give up, we need good content and really the only way to get good content on TH-cam is by going onto your channel and watching your videos
DemonRebuilt ship wrecked is very rng based. Sometimes I can get a fully setup base by day 20 where i have a fridge, a chiminea ,4 or more crockpots, and ice maker 3000 several berry bushes and 20 or so grass tufts(all fertilized by manure btw but only when I run into beefalo early) 20 or so stick saplings and wood flooring along with a lightening rod. Maybe even a pirateinahatinator but that was only one very lucky play through. Every other time I'm barely able to setup the crockpot, a lightening rod and a chiminea and I'm constantly wasting time gathering food.
DemonRebuilt btw, the coffee plants in the volcano aren't wilted if you dig them up well into dry season. It is harder but you need less prep but you gotta have good heat protection. Such as a dumbrella and using the double thermal stone in back pack trick at an endothermic fire.
I definitely agree that there is a lot of rng involved. My aim with this video was to make it so that anyone can get to a relatively stable point by day 20 to give you a good chance at surviving a full year. In practice this may take you just 10 days, or you may not be able to do everything in 20 like you mentioned if you have a particularly hard run with luck. Also with the coffee plants, you’re right about digging them up in summer being more efficient but I can’t wait that long for coffee 😛 Having it early makes the windy and rainy seasons so much easier!
I will say this, shipwrecked is consistently more difficult than RoG. I have to purposely play a no science machine playthrough when I do RoG just so it will be a challenge.
You can just follow rainbow jelly fish during New moon, they lead you there. You need to swim in the direction the jellies are traveling FROM. If you do it in time you'll witness magnificent view of tens and tens glittering jellies at the base of volcano
Tip: If you already have and Alchemy Engine, you can break your Science Machine to get more resources. Same thing if you have Shadow Manipulator, hammer your Prestihatitator. Science Machine and Prestihatitator are tier 1 machines, and Alchemy Engine and Shadow Manipulator are tier 2 machines with tier 1 crafting recipes also.
"If you don't find gold by the afternoon of first day of exploring [Day 3] just jump off the boat-" Yo I thought you were going to say just jump off the boat and drown. I've been playing this game too much lol
Walking cane and coffee is the last thing that I would go for. They are not essential, just makes game a bit faster. Your base preparations, defence against season weathers and food supply is much higher priority
After playing a few hundred days with coffee in my previous game, then starting a new one, I just couldn't play long without it. It really does depend on what you prioritise though. I definitely understand your choices.
Good first guide! You mentioned most important things, but I still have a couple things to add: - collect at least 10 of Grass Tufts, and Sapplings along the exploration. This alows you to set base even on islands that dont have those resources nearby. If you find Berry Bushes along the way you can take a couple with you too. - look for islands that have valuable things that you cant relocate (or at least not now). This includes a nearby Volcano, Sharkkitten Den, Swordfish Spawns, Brainy Sprouts, Mushrooms, Pig Houses, Bee Hives among other things. - dont collect things that you dont need in the next ten days or so, they just litter up your inventory. - even though gathering the cane and coffee can be really powerfull if you arent familiar with the Quacken and the Volcano yet, you can set those things of for next season
Another important task is to keep enough gold and stone for 2-3 lightning rods to protect your base and plants in the next season, which has the ‘occasional’ lightning strike.
This is my guide for shipwrecked. 1)Gather all a stack of wood, grass, twigs and rock off your starting island as well as, as much flint and others you can get. 2)Make a thatch pack. 3)Sail in a straight line until you find an island, along the way pick up resources when possible. 4)When you find gold, make a science machine, then a back pack, then a row boat with a boat torch and a thatch sail,. 5)Depending on the amount of gold you have, make a alchemy engine, a lightning rod and a chest but don’t place any of them, also make a shell suit and a spear. 6) By this point you should be on day 5-9, continue looking for an island that’s large, and near other islands with good resources, even if yours doesn’t, you can move them later. 7)Continuing looking even if you get to day 13 but keep picking up stuff and if you find baggins then it’s much easier, treasure chests are highly recommended. 8)Day 20, by now you should of settled down and start making farms and moving saplings, grass and berry bushes to your base. 9)Build an encrusted ship with a snake skin sail as well as a boat lamp. Also create a prestihator and if possible a upgraded one. 10) Good luck for the Sealando, it always kills me on day 32 when it’s night and I’m sailing.
I think what tricks people into thinking that they need to settle down is the amount of seemingly unique items you can run into, especially in case of new players. You get all this interesting stuff thrown at you, and you don't know whether or when you'll need them, so you wanna store them safely meanwhile, not just letting it lie around. Especially if you experienced strong winds before. Departing the starting island the best you can do is to just go with the waves. You can cover much more ground. If you sail near shores, then 50% of the screen is taken up by the island you already explored, waste of time. The islands do not always form a ring or cluster up. And you have no idea at start where on the map you exactly are, so you can't even assume island locations.
Very nice on the guide! I agree, I would always make the build a base first mistake and end up pigeon holing myself, just barely making it each season and hardly being able to leave and explore. Keep it up!
Gold at spawn island happens when a second island spawns with overlap at world center, this is increadibly rare. It's much much more common for islands to spawn overlap near shallow water flats.
I'm on vacation and have a hit and miss Internet connection so I'm playing DS and focusing on shipwrecked I didn't realize how bad I am at surviving till now I haven't made the 20 day mark yet lol oh well I'll get it figured out. Great video Thanks
I tend to use a spear when killing the quacken because once you dealt 250 damage, the quacken is invincible for a bit as it goes underwater and changes location, and while a ham bat or a cutlass supreme makes it go the fastest, A spear can work fine as long as you get to the quackens head fast enough to not get hit by a million waves
I normally find gold one day 2 or 3 and build a backpack immediately so it feels like a bit of a waste of palm leaves that you could use for a thatch sail. But if you base fast I guess you wouldn’t really need to carry as much stuff.
Lightning rod and protection from poison and rain or you wont make it past winter and spring. But finding the volcano is probably the most important thing to survive summer.
I agree except the volcanoes, they are easy to deal with if you have a stable base, just hit the sea on your boat and avoid the falling stones, no fire no death, stay cool by getting wet and wearing gear. Run back to your base to eat food and stock up for the next sea excursion. My #1 priority is spiders and a bird cage, you can literally survive on monster meat alone that way.
'Computer language', lmao. Edit: Come to think of it, 'computer language' wouldn't be too far off course. Binary is technically part of the building-blocks of computers.
I made the other three seasons shorter because they are very stressful, I forgot how short mild season is. I didn’t know the kraken dropped the cane, too! I usually base by the slot machine just so I can keep trying for it all the time. Nice vid!
I’m super unlucky so I don’t know if the slot machine would ever spit out a cane for me. Even the quacken which is a 50% chance can take me 3 shots to get it :(
i allways start with crafting a pickaxe than mining some rocks getting a machete and axe too and a bamboo vine raft! i spent max 1 day on the starter island

If you playing wx on shipwrecked, you didn't get poison from snakes, spider etc. Thats really importmant thing. Also if you have snake skin clothesç,you get %100 rain protection
I go for resources such as food and sticks and grass. Well everyone probably does that..but i do it firsthand and I save one piece of flint for the pickaxe since it’s probably more useful in certain cases
I live on the starting island for 1 or 1 and a half days on it to make a rowboat, boat torch, and a sail. (Cheapest) it's best, that was my first time caring bout surviving on it (I'm on pe) Edit: use wicker bottom it's the best character for any don't starve :)
Wow! I didn’t know how lucky I was! I found an island full of gold rocks and the volcano when I just went straight into the waves like a noob lol all in the first 2 days
Yeah but the starter island would be hell with like 6 people, the starter islands are usually small. That unless they do something so that more than one person can be on 1 boat
I have traveled almost the whole world but I have only found one doydoy. I thought four feathers would come out of it and I killed it, but only 2 feathers came out. Now I've made a doydoy nest with them, but I don't know what will happen. Please help me find or reproduce it. (by the way, which is faster, doydoy sail or turbine?)
I always struggle to find it too. I know it's only that one type of bird that drops it (the cormorant). Once you put it in the fish farm, you never need to replenish it though. As long as you leave one fish in there when you harvest, they will continue to reproduce.
Dang, I was EXTREMELY unlucky my last run. 2 Waves of crocodogs just swam at me and I was like: what is that and then I quickly got my bearings and knew it was a crocodog, so I ran to my nearest neighbor and said, ‘ ‘ Have a pet! ‘ ‘ and they started fighting. This repeated again on day 5 I think. (The neighbor is a boar.)
Shipwrecked seems to be too difficult for me... I am not sure how I'm meant to get anywhere without a base within the first 20 days, when I found a island with gold I end up on a island with annoying monkeys, spend time killing monkeys and hammering or setting fire to their homes. My sanity drains quickly and I hardly have the time to get what I need, when I do get what I need I end up with my hands full...
Are the coconut trees worth cutting down after the first few days? I love using the coconuts as fillers for the crock pot, but you have to keep at least ten or so on you in case palm treeguards spawn, and they give so little wood. But the jungle trees can spawn poisonous snakes which is bad if you're in the early days and can't find the materials for anti-venom before you die, soooo....?
I don't normally chop the palm trees unless I need coconuts or palm leaves for crafting stuff. The snakes are not really that dangerous and getting eggs, bananas and snakeskin is a nice bonus.
Oooh. My lack of confidence with Shipwreck always led me to RoG first - then portal to SW. :'v.... I also just got into Oxygen Not Included too. So little time.
Wes is op.... He can literally ride an invisible bike, can row without a paddle Its a thing. What he is doing is not a stupid thinf called "panto mime" he is literally using fucking invisible objects. He has a power on invisibility, he just rarely use it ;) #OpWes #FuckingNerfHimKlei
I have found gold on the first island once. And I've attempted over 40 playthroughs on shipwrecked. Either it's extremely rare, or it could be a minor bug in the building of the world. I'm not too sure.
What do we do for DoyDoys, and the Monsoon season? I played the game most of the way through(till I died from a falling Dragoon egg) but I found on an island one of the only DoyDoy feathers, which means I had no chance of getting feathers, and then the monsoon season came. It nearly flodded my base, so what should I do?
my question what kind of island do you want to set up on? Like spiders? Rocks? Shoreline? Mushrooms? Forest? Or just any island smack dab in the middle no matter what’s on it
I normally build on the magma turf (rock) biome because the tides don't come onto the land and I can build right next to the shoreline. But I prefer to build on islands that have more than just one biome.
People who have found gold on first island, clearly changed the “World” (your world your rules). By increasing “Boulders” beyond “default” will almost always put gold on starting island.
Isn't it bad to build your base near the coast? Doesn't it flood even with custom turf placed? Or have I been missing something this entire time lmao. I usually try to settle for the biggest island closest to the middle to avoid flooding from water rising on the coastal area
Certain turfs don't flood. The magma turf (rocky one) is a good example. Sometimes I just collect a bunch of it and put it on the edges of the island I want to live on so I don't have to worry about rising tides. I'm pretty sure all man-made turfs also don't flood.
My biggest struggles which kill me the most in shipwrecked are Sealnado in Hurricane season and the volcano eruptions from dry. Those are definitely the biggest threats but there's also some other things which sometimes kill me. But what do I do against them? I always play with dry season on really short since I just won't make it through otherwise.
If you have water beefalo nearby, go over to them when sealnado spawns. They’ll make short work of him. As for the dry season, assuming you’ve found the volcano by then, you have to give the altar items every few days. No way around it. Bone shards are good and you can find a bunch of skeletons in the volcano so you can collect them on the way. Keep a thermal stone one you and some nitre to build an endothermic fire if you need one. Hope that helps.
To be honest, I don’t really play as the Shipwrecked characters. Wilbur is pretty good, Walani is kinda useless, Warly is super annoying and I never even played as Woodlegs haha.

Better to take the extra days to find the perfect place than to settle somewhere you won't be happy with imo.

Try set up a flood proof base as soon as possible, don't rush, but just keep it in mind
It is tougher than the other versions that for sure
I found gold on the starting island once...It was so amazing. And then I died randomly.
Can't wait for hamlet
Same. They better not delay it again!
As soon as I got on water red sharks started attacking me
Are the coconut trees worth cutting down after the first few days? I love using the coconuts as fillers for the crock pot, but you have to keep at least ten or so on you in case palm treeguards spawn, and they give so little wood. But the jungle trees can spawn poisonous snakes which is bad if you're in the early days and can't find the materials for anti-venom before you die, soooo....?
I don't normally chop the palm trees unless I need coconuts or palm leaves for crafting stuff. The snakes are not really that dangerous and getting eggs, bananas and snakeskin is a nice bonus.
@@DemonRebuilt Thanks. I'll try to stick to only cutting them for the first couple days before the palm treeguards can spawn.
Make a list of what to do in one year in shipwrecked
Got my walking cane from the slot machine in less than 10 coins ya yeet
Oooh. My lack of confidence with Shipwreck always led me to RoG first - then portal to SW. :'v.... I also just got into Oxygen Not Included too. So little time.
Geez ONI is a huge time sink if I've ever seen one. Always find that there's something I need to improve or add or try. And updates every 6 weeks 😍
What is rog?
Reign of Giants.
I am normally play as a weber and I normally look for an island that just has a lot of spiders
I usually use spyglass, super spyglass to find the Volcano
I normally find the volcano before I get my hands on a spyglass or super spyglass though. If I find one on the way, then that's a bonus.
I love u videos man I play ds on self I really love it
Wes is op....
He can literally ride an invisible bike, can row without a paddle
Its a thing. What he is doing is not a stupid thinf called "panto mime" he is literally using fucking invisible objects. He has a power on invisibility, he just rarely use it ;)

I have found gold on the first island once. And I've attempted over 40 playthroughs on shipwrecked. Either it's extremely rare, or it could be a minor bug in the building of the world. I'm not too sure.
my first island had too many pigeons cause it was a big beach and tiny jungle
Smash the shipwreck that the parrot was standing on with a hammer, It will give you a full boat prepare kit.
Really? Damn i wish i knew earlier!
@@markrudson4871 I did not know I just crafted a hamer and smashed it and I got it I just started that day
What do we do for DoyDoys, and the Monsoon season? I played the game most of the way through(till I died from a falling Dragoon egg) but I found on an island one of the only DoyDoy feathers, which means I had no chance of getting feathers, and then the monsoon season came. It nearly flodded my base, so what should I do?
If one of the two doydoys dies, you’re kinda stuffed unfortunately. I wish they’d give you more than 2 in one world.
Instructions clear, I died in many horrible ways.
my question what kind of island do you want to set up on? Like spiders? Rocks? Shoreline? Mushrooms? Forest? Or just any island smack dab in the middle no matter what’s on it
I normally build on the magma turf (rock) biome because the tides don't come onto the land and I can build right next to the shoreline. But I prefer to build on islands that have more than just one biome.
Thanks
Yeah they gotta go. They can be kinda useful for dealing with hounds, but then again, so can eyeplants. I know which I prefer.
I've found gold on the first island. I've had pigs and bees on the first one. I die a lot.
People who have found gold on first island, clearly changed the “World” (your world your rules). By increasing “Boulders” beyond “default” will almost always put gold on starting island.
I think some of my islands connected which caused a gold boulder to be on my starting island, which was massive, I didn't change the world settings
What hapoens if your wicker and can craft a row boat etc and a slot machine
Once on DST i literally spawned by the side of the oásis desert
Isn't it bad to build your base near the coast? Doesn't it flood even with custom turf placed? Or have I been missing something this entire time lmao. I usually try to settle for the biggest island closest to the middle to avoid flooding from water rising on the coastal area
Certain turfs don't flood. The magma turf (rocky one) is a good example. Sometimes I just collect a bunch of it and put it on the edges of the island I want to live on so I don't have to worry about rising tides. I'm pretty sure all man-made turfs also don't flood.
let me guess...
GET SAND ??
I finally found gold on the starting island afer like minimum 20 games
When you play as WX in shipwrecked, and get a full suit of theulicite armor and two theulicite clubs in the first 20 days from the slot machine
quaken not slot
Shipwrecked is badass.
Alright, thanks, I'll have to find the volcano then.
P.S. You should make a shipwrecked characters guide. :P
To be honest, I don’t really play as the Shipwrecked characters. Wilbur is pretty good, Walani is kinda useless, Warly is super annoying and I never even played as Woodlegs haha.
Okay thanks. Yeah I've noticed how annoying Warly is...
Hello, wich mod do u use ? thx for help !
