So let's replace the bottom bunk with a desk, and then make the top bunk so it can be raised flat up to the ceiling.. Office space that converts to guest bedroom!
The heartland trailrunner 199bh has a fold up bottom bunk that could work for an office. However the idea of the bunk moving up and down would be real cool. Someone has that exact thing you described It’s the wolf pack 310pack10
Yea, I suppose toy haulers have been doing that for a long time. Just take that same idea, make it look less 'garage' style and it would work just fine. Too many campers today have a top bunk that hinges on the wall side to perfectly block the window, it's another of my many pet peeves.
Great idea...would like to see something like this available in even the smaller double bunk models....instead of a smaller fold up bunk ..a chair that converts into a twin size sleeper would work too....
If you got rid of the floor to ceiling storage cabinet, one could have a fixed desk there. I really like the idea of the bunks being able to move up or down, such as in toy haulers currently!
I don't own an RV yet, but always enjoy your content. In fact, of all the RV videos I watch, I find yours the most understandable and informative. Thanks for creating this video, and I look forward to more.
Hi Josh- We just ripped out the "time out chair" in the back bunk of this model, 2023. It gave our adult special needs son almost a FOOT more space when the sliding door is closed to get dressed, etc.! We came up with another idea.... Take out the bottom cabinet square door and reinforce that "cubby" into a "step up" to the top bunk. We don't need this, but it could be a future option to save space!
If I needed a trailer to sleep all the grandkids, or needed a tailgating/hunting buddy camper, this is a good layout. Bathroom near the door and accessible in travel mode, private master bedroom, more privacy for the bunk sleepers, and still have the sofa and dinette for still more sleeping room if needed. And like someone said, if you're in need of an office but still want some dedicated sleeping room for the occasional visitor, this would be a good layout to do just that.
Were also going to remove the "wanky stiff" dinette table leg base. One can buy a Viegro made aluminum table leg (360 turn, etc) similar to the Laguna for Amazon at 1/2 the price of the Laguna. Hopefully it works as well. Will have to do some adjustments for mounting. Thanks other commenter below, for educating us about that laguna table base option!! :) :)
I really like this layout. The wife isn't thrilled with the walk-through bathroom but I think its fine. This would fit us perfectly in this layout. How fun!
Certainly - she just doesn’t care for walking through the bathroom to get to the bedroom. It sort of accentuates an open bathroom right off the kitchen - I think it’s just an aesthetic thing for her. Plus could regularly block access to the bedroom. It doesn’t bother me at all. I like getting the really roomy bathroom from it and I think it’s super efficient for the space.
THANK YOU for pointing out how they finished the exposed wood unlike some of the other manufacturers that you recently reviewed that for some reason have failed so miserably in this area👍👍👍
Josh, these Freedom Express travel trailers are extremely well thought in design and functionality. Your video presentations are excellent in deciding which type is best for you. Thank you sir!!!
Have a 2010 north trail with the wide stance axles and it is noticeably better towing. Along with 4 point sway she ain't anywhere so definitely a good feature for sure
I've noticed that the east/west bunk concept is getting more popular. It seems to be a great way to maximize space. I'm also waiting patiently to see some Coachmen fifth wheels, now that you have access to them. Great job as always, Josh.
We bought a 287BHS last May with the wide stance axles. Tows like a dream. It tracks great when backing into a spot. We’ve used it 20+ time and it has held up well. We love it. The only problem we’ve had so far are the refrigerator door handle keeps breaking, but that’s a Dometic problem, not Coachmen. So far, we are really happy with our purchase. Side note, we looked at the 29BHS last year too. The bunks are why we didn’t buy that model. Glad to see they changed the rear bunk room, looks amazing!
Sorry to hear about the fridge door handle. I'll have to keep an ear out about that. TY for reporting it though AND for sharing your towing story! THAT'S the kind of stuff I keep hearing about but I think it means more when it comes from actual owners!
The camp kitchen space would be great to option with a generator instead. Definitely go with theater seating and darker color pallet inside. Upgrading the suspension is a must I think. Just deal with the sewer hook ups before opening the slide, double ac units a must for southern camping. Awesome video as usual👍
We just purchased a 2022 274 BRB. Thanks to your videos we feel like we made a very smart and informed decision! We will be picking it up on the 29th at Bish Coldwater. Hope to see you there and thank you for doing this. This camper is the start to our new family adventures!
Man congratulations! Look me up when you land and I'd love it if you were able to drop my name and anyone else that really stood out to you in a quick review at bit.ly/3sQtSlV
Love your stuff Josh! We just bought one of these. Coming in a few weeks. Luke Kneewalker is great but you can just store the table in the bunk room before you close the slide…then you are golden
Ah, nice! Thank you!! Congrats on the great new RV! If my videos were helpful in getting you to that decision (regardless of where you may have purchased it from), then I'd really appreciate if you could drop my name in a quick review at bit.ly/3sQtSlV
Very nice lookin Travel Trailer 👍👍👍👍👍 ilike pretty much everything about this one, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and outdoor mini kitchen but I still, prefer floor heating Vents!👍👍👍👍👍
4 burner stove and larger oven would be great, would definitely get this rv in the liberty edition. And with the suspension upgrade comment from earlier, would also look at greater capacity axles, increase the payload and longevity. Window shade in the entry way door should be a standard feature by now.
Sorry I'm posting so much., Such great excitement, and "entrepreneur" ideas both from a manufacturer AND public input through out the RV industry right now! Flashback- when we bought our first 24 foot trailer in 1996 (5 of us in there to go family camping!) It was the FIRST year (I believe) we ever saw a SLIDE OUT in a RV. It was in a Dutchman. No TV BTW. Before that, we had never, ever, seen a slide in a RV. When I think back, since then, how amazingly far the RV industry has come, it's just amazing.! With technology and innovational ideas, it's really remarkable. I know us older crowd certainly appreciate how for the RV industry has come! Thanks Josh ! Great job!!!!
Our cabinets are SUPER deep in the front bedroom front to back and top to bottom. Also SUPER deep overhead cabinets. We have stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. We have full front LED lights in the front. Our Oyster white upholestry paired with the dark cabinets is really beautiful. We love our 2023. Did the tan man for so many years we really love this combination
@@JoshtheRVNerd It's a rental. I've been trying to contact the manager of the park to get the specs All I know so far is it's an Alpenite Voyager & it says 32 RL next to the door Is there a place where that info is usually posted besides on the title?
Glad you finally got one in to review! Like others have already mentioned, what is going on with the stable steps as they look stretched out to the max as if the trailer is really high. I am with you on they need to use slam latch doors on the baggage compartments as this is supposed to be a step above the Apex I believe and that model uses the slam latch doors. I like the front window for star/ moon gazing and I am glad Freedom Express offers it! One other option I would strongly wish for would be the ability to upgrade to roller shades instead of those flimsy pull down things! 50amp service, power stabilizers, and dual air would be on my build list as well with the length of this trailer. Things they did right- the U-dinette, a shower instead of a tub on a bunk model, proper outside kitchen, flip up counter extender, roof access ladder, you get to pick the couch (theater seats for me please!), wide stance axles, and a true queen bed. Things they missed on- a linen closet in the bathroom or at least some enclosed cabinets, a place for a large waste basket (Maybe remove the shelf in the cabinet next to the stove and leave the shelf in the cabinet that accesses from the entry door side?), no easy access to the top bunk via stairs or a ladder, and putting the dump station UNDER the slide (Just begging for people to hit their heads on that one! - I know there are limited options, but I am seeing this one more and more.) Other options for me would be a Maxx air fan in the bathroom with a cover as that is one of the best fans on the market today and a slide topper as that is the best way to protect the slide from debris.
I THINK the reason the steps look funny is that this is a larger-than-normal model for freedom express. So it uses a larger/taller chassis to support the structure. Which means their normal step sets up higher than usual. I THINK that's what's going on anyway.
Nice floor plan, I would stay with the storm scheme. Definitely need outlets in the lower bunk. As for the kitty litter under my bed, NO WAY. It goes in the bunk area. Love the outside kitchen, outside speakers have to go.
Pretty solid floor plan but I think the Imagine 2910BH is better for travel access. Granted that's the trailer we have so I'm bias. The specs are all very similar though. I will say the dinette in this is bigger than ours so its got us there. Personally I'm happy to give up the outdoor sink if it means I don't have another sewer connection to deal with. Thanks for another great video Josh.
This is exactly the layout of our 2020 Kodiak (and similar Outback model)…after couple years use, here’s what I think pros/cons of this FE model: 1) the latch for the massive pantry door. The two super magnets used on our Kodiak were eventually ripped right out of the frame, and I replaced on the front with a simple latch. This FE model uses a much nice latch system, and keeps it hidden. 2) flipping the sliding door on this FE to the bathroom keeps it accessible with the slide in (not accessible on the Kodiak). 3) nice outdoor kitchen…for some reason Kodiak reduced the outdoor kitchen to just a fridge in 2021. For the cons 1) the pantry door is angled on the Kodiak, so we were able to put some sticker hooks on the wall for things like broom, BBQ flipper, etc and still keep it hidden. 2) this might be personal, but the Kodiak had hooks for jackets at the front door and not a small cabinet. There’s an accessible cabinet under the kitchen counter, so personally I’d rather have hooks for jackets, etc. 3)with the bathroom door the other way in the Kodiak and repositioning the toilet allows for a way better cabinet…so, seems like better cabinet or accessible with slide in. 4)ladder for upper bunk in Kodiak (is that carpet in the FE!) 5)underbunk storage is massive on the Kodiak - but not from the outside. Anyway, great review as always, and I do definitely appreciate that FE has their own take on this layout. One other thing our teenage son who uses the bunk room wishes for is a way to flip that top bunk up. It’d be nice that if he wanted his own space, he doesn’t always need to lay down in it.
WOW on the magnet story.. that's pretty wild. TY for sharing that. I'll have to inquire with my factory guys Thank you for sharing all of this, Andrew. Kodiak doesn't get the credit it deserves for it's originality
Josh - this is the only other floor plan I’ve seen with east/west bunks besides the Keystone Outback Ultralight 294BH (I think that’s the correct model)…how would you compare this with the Keystone in terms of quality, price, etc. Thanks!
I don't have enough recent experience with Outback models to feel qualified to answer that for you Ryan. I don't want to just make something up I'll say I enjoy Outbacks though. _On Paper_ they should be built basically the same as a cougar which has been well decorated the past few years
I wish that all manufacturers would adopt 100% standard bed sizes, so we can easily buy better mattresses and use regular sheets. I would replace the "Double Bunks with 38"x80" Twin XL bunks ,as this will fit adults and college students, etc. Unless you have little kids, the double bunks are really only going to be for one kid each. Same goes for bunk house motor homes, some of which have ridiculously short bunks, that no adult could fit in. I love this floor plan.
More COMMODE room . Good stuff Josh I've never owned one but planning on getting one . Man that Kia in the back round should hitch up to it & I'll bring my Dakota & help push . 🙋. Cubbie above tv for giant burrito,💣🚽💥💥💥
Like the floor plan but I wish they would offer a fireplace even if it was an option. Also would be nice if the cabinets in the bathroom had doors on them. I do have the wide stance axles on a freedom express liberty edition, like the way it tows but I have found it hard to upgrade to a road Armor or CRE suspension system.
This is a very nice trailer. I'm not someone who needs a bunk room so as another person suggested it would be nice to have the top bunk fold up and have the bottom bunk a fold-down desk or potential work area. The storage space in the bank room is nice but I would frankly see myself basically removing both bunks and setting up kennels in that back area for my dogs. That way if I would need to leave them in the RV for a period of time they could be secure. I like that there are windows in both the top and bottom bunk area but you are absolutely right that if you're going to use it as a bunk area with multiple kids you are going to need to have outlets and at a minimum usb chargers in both bunk areas and this model does not have that. My guess is whoever has the top bunk has all the power huh no pun intended. The clip-on snap-on window covers are smart idea to prevent curtains from being ripped down from kids just being kids. I like the l-shaped kitchen and the extending countertop. The dinette area is very nice and is definitely room enough for a family to eat together. I've never understood campers that are made with sleeping capacity for 8 or 10 people and a dinette for four. Not exactly encouraging family togetherness. I don't mind the dark fabrics and I think it makes sense especially if you're going to be traveling with children and pets but I think they need to offset the cabinets by making them lighter if you are having the dark fabrics. I'm not saying they have to be white but even a light gray which would still cover some of the dirt but would lighten and brighten things up inside the camper tremendously. Right now it is just too dark and dark on dark. I actually like the pass through bathroom and I think this one does a great job with a large shower and plenty of room around the toilet area. The pocket door into the bedroom provides enough privacy and serves a dual purpose. I like that it is a 60x80 queen bad and the large pull out drawers underneath are very smart solution for providing additional storage. I appreciate the options regarding sofas or theater seating. I would choose theater seating as I don't need to take extra people with me on the road and if I did have a guest staying over I wouldn't exactly want to make it too comfortable because you know fishing company do start smell after 3 days! All in all a really nice RV with some great features. I would be interested to see a similar model without the bunks which I'm sure they make.

@@JoshtheRVNerd // it looked like the Coldwater (Haylett’s) Michigan location but I NEVER heard planes ✈️ flying overhead before, much less a couple of times, in any of your videos 😮
This is crazy. Get out of my head! I watched your most recent video prior to this one and thought to myself “I hope he does a review on a bunkhouse with the east/west style bunks soon.” And here you are! While this one is a bit longer than my comfort zone I greatly appreciate the feedback you’re giving on them! The east/west style will be my next camper, just need to find the right size! Any recommendations on the east/west style in a slightly shorter package?
That's really more of a personal/subjective question I think -- some folks can full time in a little 16ft model. Some need a giant fifth wheel. My only concern about this one being full timed in is the laminated floor. I've seen them develop some soft spots via heavy use like that But I also cannot remember freedom express being a regular culprit of soft floors.. they use a few more studs in the floor vs. most brands
Did I miss you pointing out the shoe garage area to the right and left under the bed, under the drawers in the middle? Nice unit, nice video Josh. Wide stance is the cats meow.
I love the floor plan but it does need slam latches and bigger doors. Especially in the back I'm looking to store folding bikes in the back. GD 2910bh is big enough for this. I like Coachman's price and front BR better though.
So I like the thought of a fire place and would also like another ac unit. This trailer is getting long enough and so it would help cool it down fast. The other thing would be to have another fantastic fan and a cover for it. It would be nice if this would become standard on all trailers and fifth wheels over 27-30 feet in length.
Overall, this is very nice👍 My vote is for three seat theater seating or a reclining sofa and a smaller dinette! The camper looks like it’s parked on flat ground, but that first step looks high😬
Josh, how does the window shade on the door work when it's behind the screen door? Can it be opened and closed through the screen somehow? TheJukebox Hero reference made me snort my coffee! Too funny! A lot of people probably don't get your references, but most of your videos feel like you're in my head! Dad jokes for days!
I've noticed my references are getting older and older lol I think that's normal as we age though. The other day I mentioned Steffi Graff and afterwards I was like "wait.. like.. more than half of my audience isn't going to have a clue who I'm referencing.."
Regarding the shade: It's clumsy. I'll say that first and foremost. BUT it also tends to be a "set it and forget it" thing. You have to open the entire Door. close the screen door only. Step up on the steps to reach. Adjust the shade. Then go in/out as you please.
We have a 2021 Catalina 263BHXL Coachman told me they don’t put ladders on for safety. But this is a Coachman with a ladder wish ours did seems more unsafe to use a a frame ladder than one that’s built in.
Another great and informative video! Great Job! I love how informative your videos are, I'm new to RVing & looking for a TT or 5th for our family. My older son did Not like that the bottom bunk (his favorite) does not have a USB or Power Outlet.
First, love the floor plan If I can compare to my 2020 287bhds, which I full-time. I have had the trailer down to 15f for 14 days straight. At that temperature everything still works! But at the cost of over 10lbs propane/day Plus the fresh water fill neck freezes below 27f.(heat duct is on the passenger side, fill neck is on the driver side) Second, there is just enough slant on the windshield to see the stars while lying in bed Please talk to someone about getting those useless fans out of the bathroom in favor of a maxair style fan
oooo .... aaaahhhh. Very nice! They going to do this floorplan in a non bunk? Oh crud, that'll kill the outside kitchen unless they lose the cabinets under the TV.
Mr. Martin: the Coachmen 20SE is a no bunk no slideout model that you might want to take a look at and determine if it would fit your philosophy of use. Respectfully, W.S.
1/2 ton towable at the length / weight? Love the Floorplan, but I've got a 2018 F150 3L diesel with 5 1/2 for bed. I'd prefer not to have to upgrade the truck to get my next camper.
Opinions on that will vary wildly. The answer is going to be heavily dependent upon the truck specifically, driver experience, and region/terrain expected Without actually specs on your truck unfortunately I couldn’t begin o provide any specific advisory. Perhaps consider speaking with our team. I feel like It’s going to be a bit much for the vehicle
nice one.... dont care for bunk models, but with the black out shades would make a great storage and tool room. outside kitchen set up is pretty nice. i suppose a tv outside would just have to sit on the table, prefer outside tv in own compartment as well as kitchen, but that is not a thing that would be a deal breaker overall, just do not want to have to take it inside every time i want to wander away from the trailer, rather just shut and lock a compartment, much easier, it is not even so much someone may steal it, which if in a campground, probably happen if do not lock it up.... my main concern is a gust of wind coming up and knocking it over or off the table while i am 3 football fields away exploring, in its own compartment that is not a concern, biggest concern would be dust blowing in to it in said wind gust if compartment is left open... but again not a deal breaker, chances are i would not have tv on outside in any kind of wind anyway, i would not be out there to watch it lol... but sudden winds do happen out of nowhere. since i would be camping alone mostly... i would use outside tv more often than many... even if just hook an xbox up to and play video game in middle of desert just because i can, or hook up computer and play music video over speakers... mini desert concert.... if in appropriate area... am not asshole enough to do that in a campground lol, but out boondocking i might if do not see anyone around it would bother..... put on a slayer concert for sasquatch family and tribe.
I mentally finished that sentence with Matlock myself before you paused and did the same. So either we are both insane or it's just normal. Not sure I'd worry either way haha.
Love the vids. Had a question, about a week or two ago you showed a travel trailer I think you were in Salt Lake or Boise, but it was a great TT but, what I like the best was, it was set up for a generator, I thought, why don't more TT come prepped for generators? I mean, only 5th wheels have that set up, because as I still look for the perfect TT, I have been accounting for an extra $1000 to buy a quality generator to take on my trips. But that one trailer was amazing. Why isn't this common practice with TT instead of just 5th wheels?
Obviously I am not josh. However I think the trailer you are referring to was a toy hauler. Usually TT dont have the space to accommodate a big bulky generator or the cargo capacity to handle it. Most units that have a generator also have a large fuel cell in the frame or room for 40lb propane tanks. It's more cost effective for the manufacturer to just have the consumer tote along there own after market portable generator. Also side note alot of campgrounds dont allow generators
I think you might be referring to this one: bit.ly/3tOTi3U - the Nash non-toy hauler Despite the popularity of off-gridding now park camping is still how the vast majority of owners camp. So generators aren't a top priority for MOST builders They also require a good chunk of space to be occupied that many people would like as storage (such as a pass-thru)
@@JoshtheRVNerd no, it was not a toy hauler, it was a beefy looking TT. I will see what trailer you were reviewing. It was a brand I don’t think I’ve seen you show before. This was around 2 weeks ago. But it came prepped for a generator in the front area of TT. Thanks for always replying
I agree on most of the suggestions especially moving the table for access. I would add the suggestion for the harder to reach area at the back of the dinette, just make that an outside accessible area possibly the entire length of the dinette. TT's are notoriously short of outside accessible storage. But I did like what they did by adding the access door on the rear for that space!
I really, really like the layout, with the bathroom as a divider, and the bunks turned that the other way. It is a little long, at almost 34 feet. I'd like to see a shorter version, maybe without the couch/theater seat. But then you'd obviously lose some of the cool features. Super cool hide-away pantry. That is weird, that the lower bunk doesn't have any outlets. At the very least, it should have USB. I could easily do without the bedside cabinets in favor of a king. I'm not a huge fan of the bed being surrounded by cabinets anyway. I love the benches under the bed. I've seen similar in others, always a fan. I saw your Kia Soul alongside. Not gonna be towing anything with that! LOL
I’d rather have outside access to the storage under the back of the dinette. It would be nice to have water hoses and whatnot stored right there where you need them
@@JoshtheRVNerd that’s is definitely better than nothing, don’t get me wrong, but as an extra fluffy, rapidly aging man, the outside access would be easier for me hahahaha
sewer discharges under the slide drive me crazy - i get why they have to be there at times, but if thats the case, relocate the dump handles - or design them with the electronic openers - would be so much more convenient
Kitchen sink holds massive gallon storage. Connect to the sewer/shower then transition your 1st line to the other discharge before you travel elsewhere. Voila!
I like the idea of converting the bunk space to an office/guest room. Make the top bunk storage capable. He can place the desk against the sidewall over the outside kitchen or even an L-shaped desk. By converting the bottom bunk into a desk you can potentially add more storage with shelving plus a little more floor space for my four-legged friends and eliminating the need to access that bottom storage from the outside. Or wait! Could we make that a potential doggie door!! hmmm....🤔😁 The other thing I like there's enough room for cleaning supplies! I can actually put away a Swiffer without having to telescope down! Yes! You didn't go into much detail but that oven looks really small. How much can it hold? Does the kitchen sink have the famous uuuutensil drawer? 😁 What about the refrigerator I don't think you mentioned much about it? Also, I didn't see it I'll check again is that a single or double sink in the kitchen? I agree, it would definitely be nicer to have cabinetry in the bathroom I don't like the open look either. I definitely like the u-shaped bed frame. Will those bed hinges support and work with thicker mattress? Is there a TV hookup in the bedroom? I like those dresser drawers under the bed! How deep are they? Can those potentially be split into two drawers instead of one? A narrow one at the top where you can put simple small things like socks and toiletries etc. And even make the top lid open up for easy access rather than coming around the ends. Sort of like a chest? While the bottom drawer still opens out and is deeper for such things as blankets and heavy clothing. All in all I'm loving this style! I like that you can sit in front of the tv! LMAO! It would be nice if they had a burner / griddle grill option versus just a griddle. I prefer cooking outdoors then inside just to minimize odors and humidity.. loving the videos loving the new styles keep them coming!
I apologize - TH-cam is not friendly to answering multiple questions in a long chain of text. I cannot answer and scroll You mentioned the fridge? What were you curious to learn about it? They offer a 12v standard and 2-way optional
@@JoshtheRVNerd double or single kit sink? Bed hinges work with a thicker mattress? Rest was mostly suggestions/ recommendations. Thanks for replying n
@@Allin1PetCare I THINK the sink is these is a dual basin... kind of drawing a blank actually. I see a lot of RVs and it get blurry sometimes Regarding the bed lift "with a thicker mattress" -- man that depends on the mattress.
The brown trim around the slide sticks out like a sore thumb. The color should compliment the rest of the color scheme but it doesn't. Otherwise, it's a great camper. I'm adding it to my list of potential "next campers".
Do I perceive a Foreigner song melody used as the obligatory song theme reference? 😂. P..S. Been out boon-docking and out of cell range, thus the absence of my moderately pertinent comments.
So here's a thinker abouter - what if you put the interior dining table in the cargo bay or on the bunks - would you be able to shimmy around it and then have almost full travel access? Well, other than the bunks. Ooh, ooh, imagine if a gas station murder hobo hid in the bunk and you open the slide room and BAM - gas station murder hobo!
Is it me or does this trailer look like it's got a lift kit? Is that an illusion or does this camper sit high off the ground? That first step onto the stable steps looks abnormally high...
Must be something in the way of an optical illusion. She's not lifted BUT this is a little larger model vs most of the Freedom Expresses. So it's possible it rides on a taller/thicker chassis. This would cause the "body" of the RV to be elevated slightly and may be why the normal step they use looks a little off on her.
Really liking the east/west bunk house floor plans. They always seem to offer bunk room like dresser storage which you never find on typical BH models. I wish the dividing wall didn't extend as far to the head of the bunks that way it wouldn't feel so much like sleeping in a cave. I'd love to see someone come out with a no slide, E/W BH floorplan for a large SUV towable E/W BH model...
Was extremely interested in Freedom Express till I went to the last 3 RV Shows and saw them up close. Fit and finish of Interior was Poor at best. Another item that surprised me was how low black and gray drain was as to the ground - averaged around 8 inches on what I saw. Ended up Disappointed.
I'm sorry to hear that but I thank you for sharing it. That's not something I typically see from them but I've never claimed any brand to be without hiccups. Sounds like what you've seen was more than just a "one off" though since you mentioned seeing a few. At the least I'm glad you were able to discover that BEFORE you pulled the trigger on something
Russell I love the way you think and I wish more designers were progressive like you are
Yea, I suppose toy haulers have been doing that for a long time. Just take that same idea, make it look less 'garage' style and it would work just fine. Too many campers today have a top bunk that hinges on the wall side to perfectly block the window, it's another of my many pet peeves.
Great idea...would like to see something like this available in even the smaller double bunk models....instead of a smaller fold up bunk
..a chair that converts into a twin size sleeper would work too....
If you got rid of the floor to ceiling storage cabinet, one could have a fixed desk there. I really like the idea of the bunks being able to move up or down, such as in toy haulers currently!

Another pass-through bathroom FTW. Such an efficient use of space.
People seem to either love or hate them
@@JoshtheRVNerd The wife hates them
If I needed a trailer to sleep all the grandkids, or needed a tailgating/hunting buddy camper, this is a good layout.
I'm not familiar with Viegro but I like what you've described!
I really like this layout. The wife isn't thrilled with the walk-through bathroom but I think its fine. This would fit us perfectly in this layout. How fun!
May I ask the reservation she has about the walk-thru bath?
Certainly - she just doesn’t care for walking through the bathroom to get to the bedroom. It sort of accentuates an open bathroom right off the kitchen - I think it’s just an aesthetic thing for her. Plus could regularly block access to the bedroom. It doesn’t bother me at all. I like getting the really roomy bathroom from it and I think it’s super efficient for the space.
THANK YOU for pointing out how they finished the exposed wood unlike some of the other manufacturers that you recently reviewed that for some reason have failed so miserably in this area👍👍👍
lol I figured a few of my viewers would appreciate that note :)
Josh, these Freedom Express travel trailers are extremely well thought in design and functionality. Your video presentations are excellent in deciding which type is best for you. Thank you sir!!!
You’re awesome. Thank you :)
Have a 2010 north trail with the wide stance axles and it is noticeably better towing. Along with 4 point sway she ain't anywhere so definitely a good feature for sure
I am a fan of that axle system for sure
I've noticed that the east/west bunk concept is getting more popular. It seems to be a great way to maximize space. I'm also waiting patiently to see some Coachmen fifth wheels, now that you have access to them. Great job as always, Josh.
I'll get you some chaparrals or brookstones if I get the chance when I travel around!
@@JoshtheRVNerd I hear mid June is a great time to visit Oregon :)
I have always wondered why they didn't do more east west bunks until now. Cuts length and weight and still functions the same as north south
Ty Andrew

Very nice lookin Travel Trailer 👍👍👍👍👍 ilike pretty much everything about this one, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and outdoor mini kitchen but I still, prefer floor heating
Vents!👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you like it!
Ok I would just set the table on the bed lol - maybe on a no slip rug (the stuff u put under area rugs) then the "shuffle" could be easier - maybe?
Love some Freedom Express
Same. I've long been sweet on the brand
Awesome trailer
You're not bothering me a bit! Keep it coming :)
Hey Josh one of the things you used to mention are the warranties. Yeah I know boring but it did help me choose a Jayco over the rest.
You know that's a fair thing -- especially since coachmen is still one of the few offering roadside assistance
We are really sad they changed the 2024 so much. We LOVE our 2023. Thanks Josh!
I would like The Maine living area just as this One is.
What a great 5th wheel
Way better floorplan than the one I'm currently in
What do you have currently?
@@JoshtheRVNerd It's a rental. I've been trying to contact the manager of the park to get the specs All I know so far is it's an Alpenite Voyager & it says 32 RL next to the door

Great floor plan, I just purchased a transcend 265 with a similar floor plan. Mines more open then that one without the outdoor kitchen.
JUST recorded a 265BH yesterday! Excited to see what people think about it
REALLY nice floor plan. Enjoy it :)
Are they adding TST to all models?
There's a reason Coachman has been in business so long. Not bad at all, even with the rugrat racks.
Like I said.. Old Dog. New Tricks.
i always see small travel trailers with a rear bathroom not like how this one has a bathroom next to the bedroom right next to the entrance.
Yeah they're definitely up in one another's wheelhouses for sure. It's nice to have options, though :)
I'll have to inquire with my factory guys
Thank you for sharing all of this, Andrew. Kodiak doesn't get the credit it deserves for it's originality
I guess you could say that that dual greywater tanks can be a pro when you gain significantly more capacity.
Can you explain the wineguard on the roof? does the 2024 have it? we still don't know that that does? We put a Roku on the tv.
Winegard is the antenna
ah. that makes sense. thank you !@@JoshtheRVNerd
It looks like the u-dinette table might store on the bottom bunk while travelling, thus meaning you could easily walk around the counter. Yes?
I think there's potential there for sure BUT.. you'd need to make sure you keep it strapped down in place
I don't want to just make something up
I'll say I enjoy Outbacks though. _On Paper_ they should be built basically the same as a cougar which has been well decorated the past few years
I like this layout but I don't see it in the Liberty version. That hidden pantry/wardrobe is amazing.
Yeah they do not offer it in Liberty. They seem to be separating their ultra and liberty lineups a little more year after year
I wish that all manufacturers would adopt 100% standard bed sizes, so we can easily buy better mattresses and use regular sheets.
Start a company. Be the first. Take their business. They’ll follow suit lol
They DO make wide stance mor/rydes but I'm sure that upfit is a bit spendy
That convertible bunk/office idea would be pretty awesome
Most similar without bunks would probably be something like this: bit.ly/30guB5n

Any recommendations on the east/west style in a slightly shorter package?
Just for you man. Did this JUST for you. _cough_
Could this unit work well for a full time family?
That's really more of a personal/subjective question I think -- some folks can full time in a little 16ft model. Some need a giant fifth wheel.
My only concern about this one being full timed in is the laminated floor. I've seen them develop some soft spots via heavy use like that
But I also cannot remember freedom express being a regular culprit of soft floors.. they use a few more studs in the floor vs. most brands
@@JoshtheRVNerd thank you so much for your reply! I watch all your videos. Thank you for your thoughts!

So I like the thought of a fire place and would also like another ac unit. This trailer is getting long enough and so it would help cool it down fast. The other thing would be to have another fantastic fan and a cover for it. It would be nice if this would become standard on all trailers and fifth wheels over 27-30 feet in length.

I've noticed my references are getting older and older lol
I think that's normal as we age though.
With respect to coachmen they don't do it because they don't want to deal with it. That's fine. But just call a duck a duck ya know? Lol :)

Love the Floorplan, but I've got a 2018 F150 3L diesel with 5 1/2 for bed. I'd prefer not to have to upgrade the truck to get my next camper.
Opinions on that will vary wildly. The answer is going to be heavily dependent upon the truck specifically, driver experience, and region/terrain expected

Yep Yep. That's about how I'd do it too
nice one.... dont care for bunk models, but with the black out shades would make a great storage and tool room. outside kitchen set up is pretty nice. i suppose a tv outside would just have to sit on the table, prefer outside tv in own compartment as well as kitchen, but that is not a thing that would be a deal breaker overall, just do not want to have to take it inside every time i want to wander away from the trailer, rather just shut and lock a compartment, much easier, it is not even so much someone may steal it, which if in a campground, probably happen if do not lock it up.... my main concern is a gust of wind coming up and knocking it over or off the table while i am 3 football fields away exploring, in its own compartment that is not a concern, biggest concern would be dust blowing in to it in said wind gust if compartment is left open... but again not a deal breaker, chances are i would not have tv on outside in any kind of wind anyway, i would not be out there to watch it lol... but sudden winds do happen out of nowhere. since i would be camping alone mostly... i would use outside tv more often than many... even if just hook an xbox up to and play video game in middle of desert just because i can, or hook up computer and play music video over speakers... mini desert concert.... if in appropriate area... am not asshole enough to do that in a campground lol, but out boondocking i might if do not see anyone around it would bother..... put on a slayer concert for sasquatch family and tribe.
If they made that top bunk flip up or something, then this could be a REALLY multi-functional model I think

I mentally finished that sentence with Matlock myself before you paused and did the same. So either we are both insane or it's just normal. Not sure I'd worry either way haha.
okay well.. i mean.. I actually don't feel so badly now
Love the vids.
I think you might be referring to this one: bit.ly/3tOTi3U - the Nash non-toy hauler
Despite the popularity of off-gridding now park camping is still how the vast majority of owners camp. So generators aren't a top priority for MOST builders
They also require a good chunk of space to be occupied that many people would like as storage (such as a pass-thru)
@@JoshtheRVNerd yes!! That’s it. I found your video. I thought that was a great trailer.
LOL
Yeah well I got the airbags on it.
I blew some air into some ziplock bags and stuffed them up under it lol
I’d rather have outside access to the storage under the back of the dinette. It would be nice to have water hoses and whatnot stored right there where you need them
Vs. the sliding panels? Fair enough. I do like it when a MFG does that but I appreciate what coachmen does with those little sliding access doors too
@@JoshtheRVNerd that’s is definitely better than nothing, don’t get me wrong, but as an extra fluffy, rapidly aging man, the outside access would be easier for me hahahaha
sewer discharges under the slide drive me crazy - i get why they have to be there at times, but if thats the case, relocate the dump handles - or design them with the electronic openers - would be so much more convenient
Yeah.. I cringed a bit when I saw that
Kitchen sink holds massive gallon storage.
I cannot answer and scroll
You mentioned the fridge? What were you curious to learn about it?
They offer a 12v standard and 2-way optional
@@JoshtheRVNerd double or single kit sink? Bed hinges work with a thicker mattress? Rest was mostly suggestions/ recommendations. Thanks for replying n
@@Allin1PetCare I THINK the sink is these is a dual basin... kind of drawing a blank actually. I see a lot of RVs and it get blurry sometimes
Regarding the bed lift "with a thicker mattress" -- man that depends on the mattress.
Hi Josh why don't any of the campers have toilet paper holders?????????????????//
See previous response to same question
I prefer queen size
The brown trim around the slide sticks out like a sore thumb. The color should compliment the rest of the color scheme but it doesn't. Otherwise, it's a great camper. I'm adding it to my list of potential "next campers".
Man.. it's funny. That slide fascia is actually something I love on those. But it's totally super subjective points for sure
I believe imagine makes this layout as well. That may give you an option for a different look
The length is problematic. I like the rest of the layout.
No pedestal table so that's a good thing.
Agreed about the length. It's as long as a 2-slide RV but FAR lighter
Do I perceive a Foreigner song melody used as the obligatory song theme reference? 😂.
P..S. Been out boon-docking and out of cell range, thus the absence of my moderately pertinent comments.
Why yes. Yes you do.
Something else to mention here. This unit does NOT have curtains or "fake" plastic doors for a shower!! Doors are wood sliding doors for privacy!
10:50 but you are Funny 😁
Well thankya :)
@@JoshtheRVNerd // you’re welcome, & I don’t mean “Uncle Gary” funny either 😉
So here's a thinker abouter - what if you put the interior dining table in the cargo bay or on the bunks - would you be able to shimmy around it and then have almost full travel access? Well, other than the bunks.
Ooh, ooh, imagine if a gas station murder hobo hid in the bunk and you open the slide room and BAM - gas station murder hobo!
Kinda sorta. Bunks would still be lost when the slide is closed. I think it may boil down to person access preference
