We had put down a deposit for a used Jayco, but went with this one. Our adult son is special needs, the back private room with his own DOOR, is perfect for him! There are FEW models that have a private room under 35'. I LOVE the front bathroom! I can have "lady privacy" while I shower, then put on my clothes from the bedroom, feet away. We plan on painting the upper cabinets white and removing the bedroom front right cabinet, to instal a king bed. We're also going to install a fireplace below the TV. This is our last RV (getting older) and we wanted to make sure it fit our needs. Storage in front is a little tight, but hubby says he can make it work with the smaller storage in the back.
Update from purchase in March 2023. We added latches to the pantry door when traveling. It's ok when you drive down a regular road but if you go on dirt forget it, the magnet is just not strong enough also added longer screws to the magnet. Removed the step stool in the back room which allows more room to move around, added a RK for internet TV, added a nice multi hook for jackets, hats right of the entry door , added hooks in the bathroom for towels BIGGEST improvement was added a Lagun table mount to the dinette! This allows "swing away" or "up and down" we can swing the table to the back of the dinette to access the refrigerator when traveling. Would like to see matching dark shower head, hose to rest of darker plumbing. Hubby LOVES tire monitor system and larger tires/ wider tire spacing. We have a 2500 diesel and this beauty floats like a dream! We have our quad in the back of our truck in the summer and we still! don't even know the trailer is back there! And we live in CO and go up mountain passes over 11,000 feet! So the interior is secondary actually, to the overall tow of this lovely lady! Outside storage needs to be better in hubby's opinion. Oh, I also painted the sliding door from the living room to the bathroom in Thomasville Oyster Grey. It's a beaut now! We have been RV'ing since 1996!
Not the absolute best I've seen from Freedom Express, but I do love many of the elements, particularly the intense use of pocket doors. I've wondered by more manufacturers don't use them more often. That dinette table is very reminiscent of Flagstaff (as is the kitchen counter configuration) and we turn our table on it's side so that my wife can shimmy past it without having to sit on the counter (she's kinda short). Still requires the Luke maneuver but not having the table completely in the way helps. =) As for the storage under the back bench, I prefer it having an exterior access from outside. Personal preference. Great walk through.

Josh it’s getting that time of the year where I make sure that my under belly is heated also😂😂, don’t you🤣🤣. ❤this one, interior/exterior. This one will give my wife & I the Freedom to Express our traveling enjoyment. Josh I’ve said before around here more that size & up TT’s are towed by one tons than any other pickup truck, apparently we’re smarter down South. Keep’m coming
We just looked at it in person and I so wanted to love it especially since we are ready to upgrade and love Freedom Express. I do love the huge u shape dinette, that to me is one of the best things Freedom Express does right. The color scheme I just cannot get behind. All the back is just too much for such a small place. I felt the kitchen side was lacking windows which made it even darker and to me overwhelming. Love the arrangement of the back bunk beds though. I wished they had done what Grand Design does in their 2910bhs though. They used wider bunk beds and don't cut that much off but slightly round the end. Also like the two doors the Grand Design does by moving the second door into the bedroom and moving the kitchen over. But absolutely love the Azdele in the Freedom Express and the big fridges they now do! Awesome video! Thank you!
I like it. Two things that would make it perfect for us: electric fireplace and giant lounger in the slide instead of dinette. We rarely eat inside, would rather sit the family of 4 to watch a movie.
@@JoshtheRVNerd I’ actually have grown accustomed to liking not having a door or a roof top AC, it gives me peace of mind that it’s more air tight; but I can go either way. Aesthetically 284 has them all beat IMO, and if Jayco starts using Azdel and put those new front nose caps on all their Eagle products, they will soar pass all their competitors imo

LOL Our adult special needs son LOVES his own private area in the back and a DOOR, not a curtain!!!!!!! No curtain on the shower either, it's glass!!!!! Would have been nice if they had put a cabinet door on the open cabinet in the bathroom. (I bought nice storage organizers) We've already been out in it and we TOTALLY love, love, love it! It's the perfect size for us, under 35' so we can still get into those smaller campground spots!

Pass thru bathroom MUST have an exterior door in the bedroom. I think the OHC should run the length of the slide. Nice cargo number. Bad road mode gives me sadz.
I like the front 3/4 of this RV, but do they or anyone make the exact same layout without the back end on it? I know theres plenty of couples campers but none that I have seen that are layed out like the front 3/4 of this one.
Nice trailer. This is identical floorplan to the Kodiak 296BHSL (which we’ve owned for two years), and the other Keystone model, Outback 291UBH (higher end, higher weight). Couple things obviously different, but few comments: 1) we have hooks where that shallow shelf is at the main door - I’ll take the hooks (and extra floor space for shoes) all day. 2) I know it’s the trend to have hidden pantries, and we love ours - though ours is at an angle that gives wall space behind where we’ve added hooks for broom, bbq tongs, etc…also, those magnets are a pain. Super strong, and took only one season to rip it right out of the wood. I replaced it with a hook. Unless it’s mounted somehow to metal, prepare to do the same. 3) about the half ton vs 3/4 ton…the Kodiak version is about the same length, but only 6000 lbs dry. The fresh water tank is in the rear (on Kodiak) which adds 385 lbs to the back if you need to carry water. I weighed with and without towing with my Ram 1500, and though I was within payload capacity with water (not without water though - that’s how much tongue weight changed) we were almost blown off the road going north along the Rockies (in Alberta) in windy conditions because of so much sway. Agreed in flat calm conditions, not much an issue - tho I’d still be checking that tongue weight on this trailer against payload…our 6000 lb trailer was about 900-950 tongue weight without water, but loaded with gear. This freedom express is already 900 lbs more dry. Our Ram 2500 is a much more comfortable drive with our trailer. I get a lot of half tons can “get it done”, but not sure it’ll be a comfortable drive.
I think you said in another video that Keystone Cougar and some Jayco maybe, had a warranty for full timers. Do you know of the top of your head who has this kind of warranty?
Wow Josh, this unit checks off almost all the boxes! My likes about it are way too numerous to mention however I would like to see a couple changes, 1. drawers under the dinette to make it easy to get our stuff out 2. the Problem with the bedroom bathroom egress is easily solved with an additional door in the bedroom. 3. any open cabinets should have doors on them including the one by the front door. Your reviews always make my day Josh, a big howdy from Washington State!
Basically because that’s the shape of the bunk mat they use in all their other models. They don’t seem to do one-off mattresses Not saying I like that answer But that’s why
I love British tv and a lot of their old castles have priests hole. So the religious could worship in secret. There are people now just finding them after hundreds of years.
Very nice unit. That booth does get close to the kitchen peninsula with the slide in. Pretty tight, as you said. Too bad that table couldn't be moved out of the way, eh? (like, placed in front of the big chairs before bringing the slide in?) BTW: I love the reviews. You are my "goto channel" to check out any trailer that I'm interested in.
What's the extra door by the camp kitchen? You never opened it and there is no explanation on the website. Enquiring Minds want to know! Otherwise another great video.
I really like the appearance of Coachmen and the Freedom Express line up, they are just super classy looking! The bathroom would be a deal breaker for me. I will never admit that I'd use the hidden pantry for a gun cabinet. That is pretty sweet! I always figured I'd store them in the pull out drawers under the kitchen table benches :) Noice 'Every Which Way But Loose' reference. You're my kind of people :)
Wow. I thought I had a top of the list with yesterday's Jay Feather 22BH, But I love this bunk room! This is great for friend travel, nice private space for the one that doesn't own the RV. Now, if we could flip this one's living and kitchen space to look like the Jay Feather 22BH, that would be great!
The dining table looks like you could move it out making kitchen access with the slide closed easier. Overall I like the layout and the colour scheme is nice. A door in the bedroom would be nice.
Absolutely love this unit. Only things I would change is the theatre seat for one without the center console. As a big boy with a dog that foes not believe in personal space I am not a fan. Also I'd be curious if the under bed drawers could be reversed. SO you can open them from the middle and kinda use it as a place to get dressed
I think this is really nice, and I like the colors. The one thing I'd change would be to wrap the kitchen backsplash adding the sides. It would be really nice on the right side by the refrigerator.
I’ve seen the hidden pantry on another Freedom Express before, really cool. I love how the giant counter extension is actually at countertop level. Really neat pocket door for the bunks. I don’t think I’ve seen that before. Really interesting. A tip for road mode access that I saw somewhere else, store the dining table elsewhere, maybe even the bedroom. Then it’s much easier to squeeze through the dinette to get to the kitchen, bathroom, and bunks.
The legs are really, really, hard to fold and VERY STIFF, especially for older folk. please see my comments for what we did to remedy that. We just got rid of them entirely and kept the table top!
I'm gonna disagree with the 1/2 ton towing capability. 936 lbs is too much dry hitch weight. Using the Josh-The-RV-Nerd-Quick-Rule-Of-Thumb-For_Calculating-Gross-Hitch-Weight, I'm calculating 1,211 lbs at gross weight. That's going to overwhelm all but the most very specifically optioned Max Tow/Max Payload 1/2-ton trucks. That much hitch weight plus the extended length pushes this to 3/4-ton territory. I think something like a Grand Design Imagine 2800BH is a better 1/2-ton option. Similar floor plan (rear bath instead of mid), 2 feet shorter, and 350 lbs less dry hitch weight.
Yeah for power tower in the kitchen!! I like the large size bathroom and being a Solo traveler the pass-through situation wouldn't be an issue for me. I like the large shower and you know from my previous comments I'm a big fan of residential queens. They did a great job with the bunk area giving it privacy doors and some storage of its own. I don't need a bunkhouse but this is a really nice one if you do. The pull-out storage drawers under the bed are fantastic. A really smart idea and great use of space. The open space under the bed would be a great place for dog beds or a cat litter box if you have pets traveling with you although I'm not sure I would want my stinky cat litter box under my bed. I think that would be a challenge for cat owners to figure out where to keep the cat litter box in the trailer.
I REALLY like the privacy door and the wardrobe for the bunks. with a little carpentry, that could be turned into a big closet\storage space (with appropriate attention to keeping the load balanced at the front). The toilet, though... poor placement. I saw a motorhome for sale that had a toilet seat that swiveled. I would prefer the one big enclosed space under the bed so I could utilize it my way, the drawers lose a lot of storage potential.
I wonder how others feel about fold-up tables in a dinette. I like the tables that have one (or two) solid poles. I feel they are sturdier and if you spend any amount of time at the dinette, it’s something you’d like. My opinion. Good layout, the bathroom location doesn’t bother me but those 90 degree corners on the queen bed base might draw some blood.
Were not a big fan of the table. My hubby is handy so were considering buying the poles and end caps off amazon and him replacing the base of the folding table.Otherwise it's a very nice RV
I actually like the bathroom placement, gives you a larger overall bathroom without having to extend the trailer length. However When a floor plan uses this type of bathroom the bedroom requires an external door to maintain bedroom access at all times. So this model is a no for me.
This thing is CUTE 🥰
Just chop the bunk room off the back and I got my favorite couple's camper I've seen so far.

That’s kind of how I felt. At best it would “get it done”
Love it but they should have put a fireplace in the pantytainment
I think you said in another video that Keystone Cougar and some Jayco maybe, had a warranty for full timers. Do you know of the top of your head who has this kind of warranty?
I don't know every brand in the industry but there are more and more brands offering extended-use coverage on their warranties now
Wow Josh, this unit checks off almost all the boxes! My likes about it are way too numerous to mention however I would like to see a couple changes, 1. drawers under the dinette to make it easy to get our stuff out
2. the Problem with the bedroom bathroom egress is easily solved with an additional door in the bedroom. 3. any open cabinets should have doors on them including the one by the front door. Your reviews always make my day Josh, a big howdy from Washington State!
And a big how many back to you
Really look good would love to buy one but the payment must be hefty 😢
Tongue Table
Spatula Shelf
I don't get why the cut the corner off the bunk beds in this floor plan. There isn't a bathroom door that needs that space.
Basically because that’s the shape of the bunk mat they use in all their other models. They don’t seem to do one-off mattresses
Not saying I like that answer
But that’s why
I love British tv and a lot of their old castles have priests hole. So the religious could worship in secret. There are people now just finding them after hundreds of years.
Very nice unit. That booth does get close to the kitchen peninsula with the slide in. Pretty tight, as you said. Too bad that table couldn't be moved out of the way, eh? (like, placed in front of the big chairs before bringing the slide in?) BTW: I love the reviews. You are my "goto channel" to check out any trailer that I'm interested in.
Thx man!
What's the extra door by the camp kitchen? You never opened it and there is no explanation on the website. Enquiring Minds want to know!
Otherwise another great video.
12v fridge access panel most likely
If that doesn’t sound right, then please drop me a minute marker so I can double check
Where is my fireplace? Oh well can't have it all!
I really like the appearance of Coachmen and the Freedom Express line up, they are just super classy looking! The bathroom would be a deal breaker for me.
I will never admit that I'd use the hidden pantry for a gun cabinet. That is pretty sweet! I always figured I'd store them in the pull out drawers under the kitchen table benches :)
Noice 'Every Which Way But Loose' reference. You're my kind of people :)
😊
I feel this rv has one of the best floor plans for couples doing an extended stays
I call those cuddle compliant
Love this model, but it doesn't seem like anything has changed since the 2022 model you showcased 7 months ago.
Painfully little really with a few small updates trickling thru in future releases this season
I think this is really nice, and I like the colors. The one thing I'd change would be to wrap the kitchen backsplash adding the sides. It would be really nice on the right side by the refrigerator.
Yes 🙌🏻
This looks like a really good option for families with multiple kids. Lots of sleeping options.
Yeah I’ve mentioned that a few times in some of my videos. Harder to do with the big folding bases though
Totally fair enough. I didn’t check on that before opening my mouth
East to west 2900kbh...NASCAR KFB
Cougar has a FW coming out with a sorta similar layout where the bottom bunk just IS a desk too! going to be very cool :)
I think my only concern is being stuck in the bedroom while someone was in the bathroom 🪥
In Road mode, couldn’t you put the table from the booth dinet on one of the bunks? If you did you could maneuver through to the fridge easier.
