Some years ago I saw some site that said that Yellow Devil was top 1 hardest bosses in games history. But when I played MegaMan 1 I figured this same strategy you used pretty quickly. Kinda interesting that this game reputation comes from people that probably did not play it. Didn't know of that Boss Rush glitch, great video!
My problem with it is that you have to dodge so much shit and then you only get one chance to damage him before doing it all over again. It overwhelmed when I first played the game me and even though I beat him fair in square in 3 and X5 I'm still spamming the pause glitch because I don't want to fight that tedious asshole again
@@MAYOFORCE Oh, don't get me wrong, I am not saying it's a good designed or fun boss fight, only that it is not the impossible thing people describe it as.
Thank you! I appreciate it. Yeah I remember from a speed run of this game and thought it would be cool to show(took some practice but pulled it off) and that guide is some cap. Doppelgänger from cv3 and maybe some other game idk about has harder bosses
@@MAYOFORCE Yeah I also do the pause glitch on the Nes version. But even without the glitch, I really don’t find the Yellow Devil to be that hard, tbh the Robot Master refights in the last Wily level are more of a challenge. Also did you know that in X5 there’s a trick where you can keep wall jumping on the top of the Left or Right Wall when the Black Devil changes sides, It’s pretty easy to do (although it requires some mashing) and you can avoid most of the Black Devil’s Body attacks.
Yeah I figure both would make fun bits for the video. The boss rush glitch is used for speed runs and again I thought it would be fun to show off(took some practice to pull off)
Some of the funniest retro game stuff I've seen in a while, and a nice showcase of the glitches. It's a refreshing departure from all these "ZOMG Yellow Devil is impossible without pause glitch" wieners. The editing is just ADHD enough to be funny without turning into TikTok level brainrot.
Yeah like I watch a bunch of MM1 videos and it’s the same shit. It’s so lame it’s like you just need to memorize the 5 times you have to jump and you can see where he comes from(bar the first time) also thank you! Glad you think it’s funny

Yay. Thank you! I’m just glad I have the time to cover it because I know it already. I was going to push it later but Halloween’s around the corner. I have beaten the game without the knife it’s definitely way less fun lol
I actually agree to this topic. People say this game sold so bad in America, that Capcom decided "no, let's not evolve this franchise", but when the sequel came, people loved it that it Capcom was motivated to keep evolving this franchise, and from a comment from a MM3 OST video, it was said that Mega Man 3 was supposed to be the end of the series. But people loved Mega Man so they kept going. So going back to Mega Man the first, I can say that this game is actually not too bad, despite being only six robot masters, it wasn't a lot, but still good and simple for gameplay to be effective. Second, while this game was sucking so bad back in the 80s, I still think it's a loveletter to the franchise, being that this started the whole series. So yes, Mega Man is better than Mega Man II
Yay I got another one who agrees haha. I just feel MM2 suffers so hard towards the end while Megaman 1 I feel like it’s consistently fun and flows. I do have to thank MM2 for inspiring my favorite in the classic series 9 at least
1:48 Make no mistake, despite having an easy pattern to decipher, the yellow devil is still hard AF, because he still hits like a truck! And if you're playing this game, make sure that there is no input lag! Legacy collection for Nintendo switch, I'm looking at you!
Oh yeah I think the only hard part is the first time where you can’t see but I know the pattern so I can dodge it but I think it’s nice to show off without pause glitch like everyone else
Yeah I’d say he’s my 2nd big inspiration for getting into retro and I never tire of his reviews. Probably why I remember that exact clip from MM3 of him yelling yellow devil
damn watching you just blast yellow devil with buster only gives you my respect i did it with thunder beam although you still havent given your reasons as to why megaman 1 is better than 2 but yeah great job man you made it seem really easy and tbh it is
Yeah if you know the pattern the only difficult part is how long it takes because it’s not as much damage and also his eye can be higher than you shoot so it goes on. Yeah I’ve been answering this question in the comments I think it’s better simply because of the flow the game can provide you and I enjoy it’s simplicity. MM2 falls flat on it’s face on the final two stages, and I think we all know metal blade is insanely broken(fun at times) also thank you
@@Imgoodurbadd you know what I agree due to how op metal blade is it just shatters the balance the game has sure thunder beam is rather strong too but it's not it one shots the boss you get it from that's true metalman gets one shot by metal blade although what I like about mm2 is design and level design design wise it felt like they were starting to learn how they should make the world look in the series instead of semi basic looking locations
Yes I can say MM2 colors and ost is definitely solid over 1, although the sprite flickering and good lord the wily bosses white flashing with white background was questionable. I think again the big factor for me I get through the whole game and wily stage 3 and 4 are so ughhh. Never had that issue in 1

Glad to have found some one else who agrees. Although from the last video... I actually think the ice slash weapon is really good, it's one of my most used weapons since it's good against re-spawning enemies, which MM1 has a lot of, the whole arsenal of Mega Man 1 is much better realized than Mega Man 2's since most weapons have more uses than... y`know... metal blades overshadowing everything... Which i also think works better with the whole "start with the stage you want" aspect of the game, although i think Elecman just is a bad stage to start with, straight up, but the other ones i think work, like, even Fireman or Bombman are viable options to start with. And i sure use a lot the scissors as well.
I like Gutsman first cause it opens access to magnet beam from the go. Elecman never do first unless you do the glitch to get magnet beam. Also for ice slasher I only use it on those enemies in wily stage 1 and maybe sometimes fireman’s stage so I think it’s still middle of the road. i sometimes wonder if you happen to have beaten these games in your childhood hence you're so good at them by default - or if you go out of your way to tackle these allegedly hard games, practise them and finding these cool little tricks. either way, good job and thank you~
Yeah honestly some of these games I’ve sunk ungodly hours into because of AVGN and even SomeCallmeJohnny go me into retro. Ninja gaiden, castlevania, Megaman and I just wanted to get really good so that’s definitely from childhood but there’s definitely new games going forward I have to learn and practice but that’s when I have more free time. Thanks as always!
@@Imgoodurbadd impressive~ you have my utmost respect for that~ idk how to really describe it - your videos are like a really quick walkthrough that makes fun of yourself and others (in a harmless way, in my opinion)
Not really a difficult game in terms of pure skill. What makes this game hard to beat is mostly how RNG dependent it can get, like with those ghosts who respawn at random locations.
What’s your first? In classic series I think 9 is my favorite due to all the power ups being useful and fun, the ost is great(wily stage 1 my goat) and the presentation
@@Imgoodurbadd Mega man X1 is my favourite because it was also pretty easy to beat after you learn everything, and because Zero’s death was a tonal whiplash for me from the usual classic mega man story of “Doc Wily being evil again”
mega man 1 is more functional than mega man 2, but mega man 2 was cooler in concept if only capcom didnt rush the game that the devs were working on their FREE time, maybe metal blade wouldnt eat half the bosses
Yeah I like 2 don’t get me wrong but I think other entries in the series need some praise and I just like running through 1 so much more. Flows way better when you know what to do
Ghosts 'n Goblins is up next? Awesome! I think I remember getting to a little ways past the midpoint and then giving up, that progress screen between levels does an awesome job at motivating you to continue though.
@@Imgoodurbadd I also remember there being the whole thing about having to carry a specific sub-weapon all the way to the end of the game or else you straight up can't beat it. Then again I remember the game being chock full of trolly moments like that.
@thatgamingkiwi1630 yeah the main reason I’m not a fan of this game unlike castlevania ninja gaiden Megaman, the rng makes this game annoying. I know some of those games very well but gng the rng is what messed me up(the ghost enemies in the last two levels) it’s not impossible to beat Gng without the knife I’ve done it with the default weapon, fireball, and shield but it’s way less fun
@@Imgoodurbadd Agreed, it's why I always loved the Castlevania games. They're challenging while also being fair. When I die in Castlevania I only have myself to blame since it's all skill based and consistent. Whenever I died in GnG I always ended up blaming the game due to the RNG. The best way I can put it is that Castlevania is like the tough but fair teacher where it's entirely your fault for not following their directions. Ghosts is like the mean teacher who clearly likes some students more than others and decides to give you a bad grade just because they don't like you.
3:25 I found out that if you enter the boss fight with Super Arm, the Megaman Clone will moon walk to the left side of the screen. You can safely position yourself on the right side, which gives you a huge advantage if you shoot his ass with Firestorm or regular shots.
Interesting I might have to try that as I’ve never heard of that. Super arm also can make duplicate rocks for wily stage 3 boss but I don’t know exactly how to do it
Quite a few people think the devil fight in 3 was better, but I disagree. There’s some buggy hitboxes like some weird hitbox on the bottom right of the arena for no reason and also for some reason if you try to slide under the bouncing blocks he sometimes does you still get hit (I just fly over it with rush jet), also the regular flying block attack is so slow you would need the reaction time of a rock to get hit by it. I prefer the original devil fight because it’s less buggy.
@@NightSprinter probably a result of the rushed dev time, also I kinda hate most of megaman 3’s bosses. They’re usually attack spamming messes where you end up just getting whatever they’re weak to and spamming that attack until they die, there is almost no dodging
@@SirBiscuitmanI love MegaMan 3, until I have to fight non robot master bosses. And play the doc robot stages. And the Dr. Wily Stages. So, like 25 percent of the game

@@MrCoconuts64_Lum69 yes that is my main gripe with MM2 how decent it flows and it’s fun but then the last two levels halt the game in it’s heels so hard. Idk what they were thinking I know the lore they worked on it in their free time and rushed but still the turret boss is so poorly designed for first time players and recurring players it is a chore
Ok, bit late to say this, but what reputation? Do some people dislike it? The game got a bazillion sequels, of course, the first game's good, a favorite is obvs subjective, but are there mofos saying 1 is bad? they'd be out of their damn minds.
Well mainly how overblown the difficulty is(especially yellow devil) and because it didn’t sell well initially the 2nd game is revered and I feel not enough people talk about or even try this game and I wanted to make a fun video about it.
@Imgoodurbadd i like that Capcom made a remake of mm1 on the PSP and added 2 more bosses sadly the remake didn't do well and there no remake of the other games
Okay, hold on. You call the weapon "Elec Beam", you call the explosive enemy "pellets", but you actually got the name of the _Yashichi_ right?! What the *fu-* I'm not sure how a strategy guide proves the first game is the best, but okay. I do prefer the first game over the second, myself, honestly. (_Mega Man 2_ is neat, but overrated.)
Doc robot called. We couldn’t think of 4 extra unique levels like in MM4. But I like 3 more than 2 so my order for first three best to worst:1,3,2(ost is very good though in 3)
Glad we came to an understanding hehe. If I do cover MM3, might go more in-depth but hey at least the 3rd game introduced rush and op rush jet. I just think the doc robots would’ve worked so much better if there different levels not the same 4 rehash barely different and even the wily stages feel really easy. Also quickman doc robot cheats xd

@@Imgoodurbadd impressive~ you have my utmost respect for that~
idk how to really describe it - your videos are like a really quick walkthrough that makes fun of yourself and others (in a harmless way, in my opinion)
A1 content as always. Love these bro
Thank you for the comments as always! Really appreciate it and happy to read
G'n'G cant be that easy .... right ? Right ?!
But can it be done without the Knife?
Not really a difficult game in terms of pure skill. What makes this game hard to beat is mostly how RNG dependent it can get, like with those ghosts who respawn at random locations.
@@Conan_the_Based It can if ur good... but, sadly, I am being informed that we are bad.
Yeah it can be hehe
It can be done I’ve done it but it is not as fun(that damn fireball weapon)
This is my 2nd favourite mega man game due to bias and due to it being ingrained in my muscle memory
@@Monika-Legion I hear it’s great game. When I have more time I definitely need to try the X games and classic I haven’t tried 7,8 or Megaman bass
mega man 1 is more functional than mega man 2, but mega man 2 was cooler in concept
if only capcom didnt rush the game that the devs were working on their FREE time, maybe metal blade wouldnt eat half the bosses
Yeah I like 2 don’t get me wrong but I think other entries in the series need some praise and I just like running through 1 so much more. Flows way better when you know what to do
@@Imgoodurbadd yeah same, I can beat it casually in under 40 minutes. its not the best mega man, but it has a charm to it and I like it
Ghost in goblins
Ghosts 'n Goblins is up next? Awesome! I think I remember getting to a little ways past the midpoint and then giving up, that progress screen between levels does an awesome job at motivating you to continue though.
Well maybe I can be of help haha. Too bad the game is quite the rng shitfest in the last 2 stages
Oh yeah, Mk. II's hitbox was some really jank shit.
So, like 25 percent of the game
yeah that MM3 devil fight is very annoying with hitboxes plus the hard knuckle being his weakness is not great cause it kind of stinks
That's okay, I think all of them suck
Tbh, I disagree but I respect your opinion.
Based
I never beat MM1 without using save states and rewind anyway because I suck at them it is what it is
True you suck xd. But I’m sure if you like the game enough you can beat it without resorting to that
Mega Man Powered Up is goated
Never tried but I’ve seen oil man. Idk why he’s funny to me
@@Imgoodurbadd if you like MM1, then I'm pretty sure you'll love the PSP remake. It makes MM1 feel more in line with the polish of later games while maintaining the original's appeal. 100% recommend.
Also, Oil Man is also goated 😎
buddy really
like
Yes
Oh god I could never get past Ghosts and Goblins stage 2. XD
Which is better at this point. Holy water or Magnet Beam?
Holy water I’d still say. Magnet beam does not help with the robot masters at all(unless you use the skip at the end)
це прекрасно) наступна гра буде дуууууже особливою🤭🙃
Given how poorly designed mm2 wily castle was, specifically the wall boss and the final boss is, at least mm1 doesn't do that
@@MrCoconuts64_Lum69 yes that is my main gripe with MM2 how decent it flows and it’s fun but then the last two levels halt the game in it’s heels so hard.
Fight you? No, I'll side with you. 2 is overrated.
Let’s go! We’ll take on the mega man 2 is the best crowd lol
Again. They still dont know you lay megaman 1 and still think you play megaman 2. What were they thinking!?
As knuckles says, IDK
Anyways. Dont you do mr jeckyl and mr hyde?
Not anytime soon never played it
I agree that MM1 is better... but I can still fight you if you want.
You people have no idea how much of a pain in the arse Wily 3 boss is to no damage with buster only.
Bet time and place?
Yeah shit’s rng where he spawns and gets stupid fast
i agree
W.
its actually because for some reason megaman can't fly......WIly always flies-away after you blow up his robot.
Not in mega man 1
I also like Megaman 1 and think it is better than megaman 2.
W
I Think they are both good
Guess what? Wrong. Nah I like ‘em both too just MM1 does it more for me
@Imgoodurbadd i like that Capcom made a remake of mm1 on the PSP and added 2 more bosses sadly the remake didn't do well and there no remake of the other games
@dykuvids6821 yeah I need to try powered up. Maybe someday we’ll get a remake but not looking good
@Imgoodurbadd yeah but hopefully Capcom pay more attention to mega Man these upcoming years
Now do a video about how megaman 2 is worse than megaman 1
Perhaps
Great vid pls keep up good work 👍
Thank you! I appreciate it
Okay, hold on. You call the weapon "Elec Beam", you call the explosive enemy "pellets", but you actually got the name of the _Yashichi_ right?! What the *fu-*
I'm not sure how a strategy guide proves the first game is the best, but okay.
I do prefer the first game over the second, myself, honestly.
(_Mega Man 2_ is neat, but overrated.)
Ye I’m just shiposty like that. No one calls it thunder beam anyway lol. If I ever cover mm2 maybe it’ll make more sense I just like doing it this way
Mega Man 3>>>
Doc robot called. We couldn’t think of 4 extra unique levels like in MM4. But I like 3 more than 2 so my order for first three best to worst:1,3,2(ost is very good though in 3)
@@Imgoodurbadd very fair
Glad we came to an understanding hehe. If I do cover MM3, might go more in-depth but hey at least the 3rd game introduced rush and op rush jet. I just think the doc robots would’ve worked so much better if there different levels not the same 4 rehash barely different and even the wily stages feel really easy. Also quickman doc robot cheats xd
YESSS!!! i just beat that shit too
I was actually going to save it for later down the road but I figured it’s the right time of year(also lucked out it’s on my list of notorious games I have conquered)
Still won’t fight you, or stop you from saying the truth.
The truth must be known
What do the colored balls do?
What colored balls
WOAH!!! Megaman. 5 is the best one.
hmm saying that or 2 is the best definitely wrong opinions.
@@Imgoodurbadd :(
Mega Man 5 is peak.
Gyro Man's theme is ART.
Plz I suck at that game
I know xd. It’s fine iz very meh game
@Imgoodurbadd yea have you beat the super Nintendo or sega genesis version
MM1 might not be bad but how is it better than 2?
Simple mega man 1’s last two stages don’t blow chunks. Kills MM2’s pacing
@@Imgoodurbadd Agree to disagree 😔
I tried hehe. I go back to 1 way more than 2
6:09 why did you specify that Megamall never killed wily in the first game wily never got killed by megaman
Because if he did kill wily in the first game, rest of the games wouldn’t exist. More of a reference to time period
@Imgoodurbadd Thanks for the explanation I get it now 👍
You’re welcome. I appreciate you leaving that comment. I could see why that confused you but yes more a time period thing because he never did kill wily
Nope, MM1 is great but MM2 is peak.
Guess what? Wrong. I think MM9 is peak
@Imgoodurbadd haha love the response.
