I'm 78 and my '08 Cayman base is with me till the fade out. It is a joy every time I run it through the gear. The later models (981 and 718) have gotten downright zaftig! That means fat. 911s are like limos these days.
Badass. I’m probably in the same boat - I just can’t justify “upgrading” to a different car. The 987 might just be a perfect blend from an era of cars that has since passed.
I've got a 987 base myself. Awesome looking, sounding, and handling car. Obviously not as much hp as a 911, but still more than most of what's on the road!
The Cayman is a better made, better handling faster, safer, more reliable and more practical car - but it’s nowhere near as cool. The SC is a visceral experience to drive. The Cayman is a fraction of the price of the SC too. Also, thanks for watching and commenting!
I so enjoy driving a bit spirited, sanely like this, in the car or on bikes. I would openly argue that it's safer for everyone than the people that drive around in a trance, preoccupied with their phone or whatever else. I don't at all feel guilty about it and wouldn't accept much criticism. Shame the police don't agree.
That would definitely make it pull way harder than it does (and make it more fun on the freeway for sure), but I actually sought out a base model so I'd only have 250hp. I'd rather drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow.
Definitely. It’s my daily driver, and I do about 200-300 miles per week. Great grocery getter with its two trunks. I average about 25mpg if I try. Plus, its super reliable and easy to work on.
@@AnthonyMassie Thank you so much for the response I appreciate it. Im trying to see if I can find a good one for under $30k any suggestions on where to look?
Man! I wish I had the chance to drive a car like that on a road like that … I’m 25 y.o and still have no money , no car , no job , no degree, no life Pray for me plz 😂

Mate, the 981 is actually lighter but stronger than the 987.
Good on you, I hope to be driving a Cayman when I’m 78, as long as my 06 Cayman S gets there.
What a darn sick road you have there fella .
07 Cayman S is ALWAYS Fun to drive! Even to the grocery store!
Agreed!
And much easier to load than an SUV, judging by how long people take to load up.

Driving fast with safety, very nice!
The thing I miss most about California is the driving. My Cayman has only known Chicago's (hellish) streets but its soul longs for Mulholland Drive.
I'm not letting my Boxster see this video as it will get jealous of your roads. Great video it looks an amazing place to drive.
Really good video.Love my 987 and the roads round California look perfect for it!
Thanks. I definitely feel fortunate to have these roads in my backyard.
I hit the bell icon so I never miss a new video. Time for an external mic to pick up the Remus exhaust sound better.
Nice road
After watching this and your 911sc video, I'm torn on which I'd rather own (provided I can only afford one)

Nice 👍

What exhaust is making that beautiful sound? Factory headers? Details please.
Remus cat-back with factory headers.
put turbo on that with conservative boost to bout 400hp~ at crank and then it make sense

@@AnthonyMassie my thoughts exactly - roads here can’t handle more power than that and I like to let mine (987, 2.7) rev out :)
@@AnthonyMassie I drive an 07 987 base for the exact same reason. I love winding her up and letting her sing at 6.5k rpms.
Nice! What exhaust is that? It sounds great.
Remus cat-back.
Looking to buy one of these very soon, is this a car that you can daily and still enjoy?

This will make you smile every time you go to buy groceries, or whatever … you might find that you take the long way around to the supermarket :)
Is this the stock exhaust? sounds awesome
Remus cat-back.

top car! All stock?
For the most part - it has a Remus exhaust and a B&M shifter.
what kind of communication system did you install in your car?
Pioneer MVH-1400NEX
@@AnthonyMassie cool, thank you!
I m just about to get my porsche 987.2 boxster and wanted to make an upgrade
Is it also for apple car play ?
@@Sanschmit Yeah, it has Apple CarPlay; it's the only function I use and it works well.
@@AnthonyMassie great, thank you, for your feed back!
Im thinking bout buying cheap base to turbo that bitch with some very conservative boost to about 400~. Then this car would make sense.
does this have an open diff?
Yes.
*Blasphemy: BMW M driving-gloves while in a Porsche.*
I know, right? They're arguably the best driving gloves for the money though.
Pretty much on 3rd gear
All the fuss about manual or tiptronic number of gear changes almost none
That's a good point. On most backroads, I'm only switching between 2nd and 3rd gear.
