For your new house, I do not recommend that you use WIfi cameras, I know you said running wire is hard, but it is worth it in the end. If you need any help with the Network/Internet/Wifi, let me know I would be more then willing to offer advice.

I would think that camera would work better placed higher up. Would maybe increae the vertical frame of view. But not sure either.
