yammy one of the fights i will never forget was an unlicensed fight between a man from south london called wayne gibson or his ring name wayne the duke.his mate was telling danny woolard how tough he was,ect ect so danny ,knowing that if the main event (heavyweights) ends early it will cause mayhem,so he got julius francis to step in ..i believe julius was to turn pro after this....julius punched holes in wayne for all 5 rounds but never put him down or made him back up he took a real beating but never looked like quitting ( he went on to train an im told he won the aba's)....now his mate is telling danny woolard that no body will fight him as he's so tough first my younger brother neil fought him but was stopped on a cut ,this was 6 week after julius ..years later my youngest brother shane fought wayne and won on points wayne was a bit unsure about the result they fought again at the circus tavern and shane stopped him ...but what a tough man...in-between these fights del cocko came out and agreed to a fight, again wayne obliged but the years away had taken a toll and dell was buzzed with some massive shots and the fight ended

The pub you`re talking is next to Mile End station its called Rusty Bike now . In that pub I used know someone who was friends with one of the Lambrianou`s sons who worked behind the bar. The person said the he saw the Bill the Bomb go crazy in there he was looking around shouting don`t look at me around the pub the person said he was a schizo. Another thing I heard from someone I trust who is not well known but has been inside he said he was in a drinking club behind Mile End station early hours this was in 1982 he said the Bomb walked in shouted Get me a drink now to the barmen and pulled out a sawn off shotgun from under his overcoat. Benjys was on the corner it was called Purple later on. Mile End still has some good pubs really old school to this day.

I remember Eubank Sr battering and dealing with Stretch.. Stretch always came across as an unsavoury character.. Too arrogant..
The thing is I saw Gary stretch in stringfellows very drunk 2 weeks before he fought eubank,I had a go at him,while he had 2 birds sitting on his lap, I said haven't you been training,he snapped yes I've been fking training, but you can't be going out getting drunk 2 weeks before fighting someone as capable as eubank,but give him his due,he completely outboxed him until he got knocked out,what a waste of talent. Then again he has become a reasonably good actor dated Rachel Welsh and been I major movies like Alexander.

Gary Stretch was living in Pattaya Thailand about 10 years ago, got bashed up apparently by Brian Jacks the ex judo competitor and winner of Superstars who also lives there.
I heard about that a while back , apparently it was because Stretch was bullying the guy who played Micky Pierce in Only Fools & Horses

Yeah it’s defo true mate , heard it from several people . Bit more back info on boxrec . apparently stretch , jacks & murray (micky pierce) were good mates originally , but stretch lent some money to murray telling him he could pay it back when he was able to . But then he got arsey and started threatening him and giving him a few slaps in public , pretending he was joking . Jacks steps in telling Stretch he’s being out of order . Stretch then starts acting like Hong-Kong Phooey , trying to intimidate Jacks with silly karate moves , so Jacks puts Stretch in a choke-hold and sends Stretch to bed early without any tea lol
