A guy I always respected in a similar way from the early’90s was Lee Hasdell ..did a couple of bits of training with him, I was only young. Even now I don’t think I’ve met many who could have handled him if he was upset.

Hi Yammy.I used to train in World Gym in Leyton and Alan Crossley was training for a prize fight against Man Mountain York. I saw him lift 200lb dumbbells by himself and do 15 reps on the flat bench,then say he was disappointed as he normally does 20 reps but his shoulder was injured. Strongest man I have ever met.Would not surprise me if Lenny was a bit wary!

We all know Lenny was a tough man and his autobiography ‘The Guvnor’ is a very good read. That said he was battered by Cliff Field and would have got pasted by a younger Roy Shaw. If you watch the fight between Lenny and Roy Shaw, Roy takes 20 punches to the head consecutively that would have put any other bad mans jaw on upside down. Plus as I’ve said before: Roy Shaw smashed his way out of his cell, through a metal cell door with a metal chair leg, he split the metal door in two. The strength you need to do that is phenomenal. Shaw was a true gent and a legendary bad bad man. I know Yammy said Roy got done with a weapon but anyone can get done with a weapon. It doesn’t take strength or being a warlord to use a weapon. I knew Alan Crossley back in the day and he was a top fellah not a bully and would go toe to toe in a straightner with anybody in the country , he ran a few doors in his day and had a team of men that he knew he could rely on for back up if he had to settle a dispute or clear a venue of a gang or such ' but on his own he was game as a teriier as strong as an ox and heart of a lion trust me he was a very serious man who could handle violence in his day .

He was a proficient street fighter and wouldn’t back down but a bit like Lee Duffy he was also a bully and would beat up straight goers on the street for laughs. He beat up a man in the street in a road rage and therefore got banned from travelling to the USA to pursue his MMA career. For a lighter weight ( he used steroids to bulk up and was naturally only about 11/12 stone) he was a lethal fighter. Fast and accurate. But the amount of average blokes he beat up just because he could I don’t think he is someone to put on a pedestal. And he’s doing 25 years in jail ( out in 5 I think) his mate Paul Allen got shot not long ago because Lees money was being spent while he’s away. That life just isn’t worth it. We all know Lenny was a tough man and his autobiography ‘The Guvnor’ is a very good read.
That said he was battered by Cliff Field and would have got pasted by a younger Roy Shaw.
If you watch the fight between Lenny and Roy Shaw, Roy takes 20 punches to the head consecutively that would have put any other bad mans jaw on upside down.
Plus as I’ve said before: Roy Shaw smashed his way out of his cell, through a metal cell door with a metal chair leg, he split the metal door in two. The strength you need to do that is phenomenal.
Shaw was a true gent and a legendary bad bad man.
I know Yammy said Roy got done with a weapon but anyone can get done with a weapon.

I knew Alan Crossley back in the day and he was a top fellah not a bully and would go toe to toe in a straightner with anybody in the country , he ran a few doors in his day and had a team of men that he knew he could rely on for back up if he had to settle a dispute or clear a venue of a gang or such ' but on his own he was game as a teriier as strong as an ox and heart of a lion trust me he was a very serious man who could handle violence in his day .

Lenny was supposed to have fights with Lee Duffy and Viv Graham. Viv was advised by his dad not to fight Lenny as he felt Lenny would have smashed him. Lee Duffy and Lenny were going to meet but not sure if on the cobbles Orin the ring.

He was a proficient street fighter and wouldn’t back down but a bit like Lee Duffy he was also a bully and would beat up straight goers on the street for laughs. He beat up a man in the street in a road rage and therefore got banned from travelling to the USA to pursue his MMA career. For a lighter weight ( he used steroids to bulk up and was naturally only about 11/12 stone) he was a lethal fighter. Fast and accurate. But the amount of average blokes he beat up just because he could I don’t think he is someone to put on a pedestal. And he’s doing 25 years in jail ( out in 5 I think) his mate Paul Allen got shot not long ago because Lees money was being spent while he’s away. That life just isn’t worth it. For a street rep and a few million quid you lost your daughter and wife and family and liberty for decades.
