  • The AI at Callaway has been on overtime designing the first face for the APEX line and other advanced features. Another surprising feature is the shaft availability for the iron line. There cannot be a loser in the field

    Great review Jim, the new APEX Irons are 3 nice ranges👍
    But I'm worried that the "voice in your head" is now talking to the "voice in my head" and I'm running out of space inside my head😜🤦‍♂️

    Awesome review. You are getting a lot of distance out of those clubs. Question: When will lofts stay the same and not drop?

      I know, my smash factor was high when testing, Loft changes will keep moving as long as the technology will allow it.

    Thanks Jim! Which shaft was your favorite? It would be great to see the dispersion test again with whichever shaft you preferred. Curious to how dispersion correlates to the head VS shaft.

    I'd like to know how the Apex compares to the Mavrik irons, in your opinion

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 21 apex will feel smoother or softer than the mavriks, The mavriks will go a bit further due to the loft strength. The regular mavik has more offset that the APEX in my opinion. I liked the smaller appearance of the mavrik but for lowering scores Id consider the Apex club

  • @davidbmunro

    Great video. Callaway offers the mixed combo of the Pro and Standard, which I am considering as a 6 handicap. Wondering how a combo set manages the loft differences. For example, the Apex standard 7 iron is 30.5 degrees and the Apex Pro 8 iron is 37 degrees. Wouldn’t the combo set create too great a disparity between the clubs? Would you be able to expand upon how that works? Does Callaway adjust the lofts to be closer when you buy a combo set? Thanks again for the great content!

    Hey Jim, great review.
    Question: I’ve been struggling with too much height on my Mavrik GW (bent to 49) and AW (bent to 44), with stock Elevate 95 shafts. Would the difference in offset and clubhead of the Apex 21 Irons help solve that issue, giving me less height but more distance?
    Also how much does lengthening a shaft in the butt section affect the characteristics of that shaft?
    Thanks! Love the channel!

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rory,
      keep in mind these are made to launch the ball high the Mavrik higher than the APEX for sure however to the naked eye you may not perceive the difference. I would also look at moving the ball just ever so slightly back in the stance. alot of golfer put it forward much like a longer iron. A bit further back may solve the whole thing.

    I thought there is no au cup face in the 8-gw irons. Currently game the apex cf19 but want to change as too clicky, clunky and too much offset. Almost got the apex pro last time. Looking at the mixed combo but only 7-gw even though in my mid 60s. Or else go the route of pxg gen 3 when gen 4 out or else the jpx 921 sel.

    I liked the old recoil shaft in the Apex 19, I'm suprised that the elevate is a higher launch shaft than the graphite recoil, I like the lower weight of the recoil but prefer the higher launch of the elevate, a fitting is obviously the way to go, any more to add about the shafts?

    What is the point in stronger lofted irons , it won't be long before the first iron in the bag will be a 7.

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ive said we will just call it the 7 wedge. but golfers are alway looking for distance and the companies are giving it to us. At least now, in the past it truly was just a 5 iron with a 6 stamped on it. today there is a science to the stronger loft to give a simiar trajectory although spin is lower

    I currently have the kbs tgi 90 in my apex and is quite stable though perhaps my swing speed is slower than this requires. Indeed when fitted with the pxg they put me in the kbs max 65. What is your thought on how the mmt 85 or ust dart compare especially in being more stable vis stiffer tips.

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      TGI and the max shaft a two very different profiles. The max line is more butt soft and would launch a the 90 is more a light weight tour shaft where the max is more the Kbs 90 steel only lighter
