    Hey there, I just wanted to say that find all your tech videos really interesting and that I really appreciate that you take the time to produce them. Ever since i got my bike (European 2010 model) i must have watched almost all your videos just for educational purposes . I guess all I want to say is thank you and I 'm glad I found your channel .I really hope you can find the time to keep posting them !

      Hey thanks so much for the kind words! I’m glad you appreciate the effort it takes for me to make these tutorials. As you can imagine, some of them are more difficult to produce than others, and it’s easy to get discouraged when my channel experiences low points for activity (like it is now). Thanks for watching and commenting.. you’re keeping my spark alive!

    I care and always like technical investigation even though I ride a kapcai, so I will learn from experienced riders and know the actual damage and not get robbed by a useless mechanic throwing money and unnecessary parts. Thanks for the video, I hope someday it will be useful for me.

    Thanks Juan for showing interest, because of you and 1/2CU I’m now watching this video with an overheating issue and my water pump was making that sound a week ago 😬😬😬 hopefully it didn’t cause major damage! Put 300+mi since then😅

      @@HalfClickUp just ordered the whole unit with chain on EBay for $78, off an R1 with 30k miles. My bike has almost 90k. I got that seal kit too just in case.

      @@BikingVikingHH you sure the R1 pump shares the same part number with the Fizzer/R6? I’ve never verified that..

    2004 YZF R6 - I had a slow coolant leak through the weep hole. No noise from the waterpump but exact same problem with cracked seals behind the impeller. The impeller looks different and is made out of metal though

    • @HalfClickUp
      @HalfClickUp  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Interesting that the R6 impeller is metal... Wonder what the advantage of metal over plastic might be, other than strength? Perhaps it was a case of cost controls in the manufacturing process?

    You gonna hang onto that in case you need it? Looks in pretty good shape still despite the gaskets and that ceramic ring needing replacing.

      @@JRYDER13 yep not a whole lot to it, really! I thought it was pretty awesome to confirm the specific failure via what I pretty much already knew just based on anecdotal evidence. Was kinda satisfying! 😬

    So the washer cracked, causing the cooling water to flow out along the hole at the bottom?

    • @HalfClickUp
      @HalfClickUp  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, once that washer cracks, coolant finds those cracks as passageways, and the weep hole acts as a sort of evacuation route for that rerouted coolant to get out.

      Sí, se debe investigar cualquier sonido extraño, pero el sonido más común será el chirrido agudo que indica una arandela de cerámica rota.

      @@MrGodpasser you can rebuild your pump with new ceramic washers, but low mileage pumps are so inexpensive on eBay that it makes better sense to just replace your entire assembly. The required coolant flush is a bonus for your maintenance regimen.
