    That bike is beautiful, and that pipe sounds really good!

    I understand. I just bought that pipe for my 1100e so was hoping for detail. It’s a basic install but wondering what you were using to hollow out the tubes to get them to slide together easily. Thanks

      @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I sanded mine by hand first, especially inside the collector, then used the red grease that came with the pipe. Take your time on the fit. If it won't fit nice off the bike, it won't fit nice on the bike. Cheers!

    Would love more explanations as you go along - what are you putting on the sections before you join them together? How do you know which downpipe goes in which port etc etc

    • @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538
      @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I put the assembly grease/sealant on the pipe ends first (it came with the pipes). The downpipes and corresponding collector ports are labeled. There are great instructions on the Delkevic web site.

      @@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538 cheers I found the Delkevic instructions, all went well except number 2 downpipe was a git to fit! Love this shiny new exhaust, can't wait for a bit of time off work during daylight hours to take her for a test ride :-)

    Hi Jon, what handlebars are you running here? Im looking to do the same setup on my 82 gs100L. Thanks

    • @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538
      @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm running the Emgo "Magna Wide" handlebar. I also changed the clutch cable to one from a GS1100E since it's somewhat shorter and fits the bar better.

    This is a bit unrelated to this video but do you know if other GS seats will fit the L model? I’m not a big fan of the largely stepped seat of the L and prefer the flatter styles.

    • @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538
      @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree with your sentiment. Unfortunately, no, you can't fit a seat from a different bike. I have had a custom seat made for the L model. It made the bike look great. I went with a flat driver's portion with a cafe racer style hump on the back. Hope that helps. Cheers!

    Great Motorcycle! Did the bike need any further tuning to run properly afterwards? I was thinking about doing a very similar upgrade.

    • @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538
      @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! As a rule, if the bike is running great before you install the Delkevic exhaust, it should run great afterward. However, I like to run one size up on my pilot jets and one size up on my main jets with a full system. On this particular bike I also went one size up on my air jets (in the front of the carbs where they meet the airbox). Your jetting may be different depending on your bike setup and where you live.

      @Kratz009 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538 Are you running the exhaust right out of box or did you remove the baffle? Would elevation effect the jets? If so, curious what is your elevation? Also Could you supply the link to the jet kit? Sorry for all the questions 😅 I just don’t want to mess anything up.

    • @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538
      @jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm running the exhaust with full baffles. I didn't use a jet kit but would recommend a Dynojet kit - they come with excellent instructions. I live near Maple Grove raceway in PA if you want to look up my elevation.

      @@jonsmotorcyclerescueandrev3538 awesome I’m looking for a system that is plug and play cause I really don’t want to be making a 40 year old engine do something it isn’t suppose to do. Thank you! I think I found my exhaust! 👍

    I’m buying an 82 GS1100L this week, I looked up this exhaust but only finding compatible for GS1100E, is that the same fit regardless?

      The Delkevic part number is COM270Z
      The Delkevic web site is a little confusing but that is the one to order as long as the bike you're getting has round cam end covers.

      I'm sorry it wasn't helpful. This video was done several years ago when I started the channel, so it's not one of my best. I stick more to classic motorcycle reviews and project update videos these days. The how-to videos don't get the views for the amount of time it takes to film and edit them. Cheers!
