    After watching what you guys did, fighting through mud and rain, and time, and laying down in mud and who knows what was on that ground, you guys pulled it off. Dam. Huge respect.
    It is a crying shame about the grill. These are hard as all hell to find if not impossible. It did hurt to see a 69 Torino like that.

      That was my thought as well. I used to work in a body shop so I see parts like that first. I would have taken that one first and maybe the front brakes and only then I would have started unbolting the engine.

      @@beatglauser9444 Wow yea, I hear ya. I think the headlight doors would have been a good catch too. Heck, if these guys were removing an entire engine, disengaging it from the transmission, through all that adversity, if I owned that salvage yard? I would have thrown all three for no extra charge.

    Nice work guys. I’ve seen videos of 351W stroked out to 408ci. With aluminum heads and intake. The weight will be a lot less than a 390ci. And you can still reach the spark plugs if you keep the original suspension. I can’t wait to see you work on that Mustang. Because it’s so rusted. I can’t wait to see your ideas.

      Ya a few folks on the tube here have stroked them to 427 [magic displacement]. Stroke to a 427 then dropped into many fox body stangs or classic fast backs or coups from the mid to late 60's. Great find Omar. When you going to drop that 428 into the Galaxie. Love to see that one start to go to the car shows and maybe take it up to visit Craig's with his two Galaxie's he's been working on for the last few years. Love the colour on yours. You going to paint it back to that original colour combo? That would be SS Super Sick 🙂

      That is a long standing myth. The two weigh surprisingly close when they are compared with an aluminum intake. on each. The FE was a race horse, the Windsor is a malaise era smog boat engine. They can be pretty good but a 390 at Engine Masters with iron factory head made 600 hp and 517 ft lbs of tq.

That video sure brought back some memories for me; one of the guys I ran around with in high school - his family owned an auto salvage yard; that engine removal in the mud that was wet enough to make things miserable made me smile. You dudes are troopers and your buddy is a true friend helping you pull that thing in the rain and muck. Such a shame for that car to end up in a pick a part type yard. Was there any rust on it? With what was in the trunk I bet it was someone's project that was never realized and after he passed his family called to have the car picked up. I have been looking for a project similar to that but in my area they are either totally rusted or more money than I can afford. Really like to have a 65 Galaxie. Put the 390 in the mustang, save the windsor for another project or sell to someone that needs it for their project. Buddy of mine had an S code 67 in HS, so much more fun than my 66 w 289. Go back and get the rest of the parts off that car.

  • @beatglauser9444
    @beatglauser9444 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It sucks if you do not have the time to get the parts off a car you want. I might have been nuts enough to drive back there and entered the yard as soon as it opened again. At least you get the engine! What a work to get it out in time! Those yards are clever: They hardly ever sell you an enire car. There is more money for them if they let it be picked to pieces.
    Last week I left home three o clock in the morning and picked up a Chevy door and was back home at dawn. A friend called me a nutcase. But if you love classic cars you do thing like that. There is still to many parts or projects you miss.

    Good find Omar, was hoping it was a 4bbl. IMO use this over the 390, do a 408 stroker with a set of AFR heads and alum, intake. the weight you will save over the 390 is worth the small loss of torque IMO.

    • @OmarRamirezGalaxie
      @OmarRamirezGalaxie  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @kimmorrison9169
      @kimmorrison9169 ปีที่แล้ว

      Omar, not a fan of 390’s. They make no power unless you mod the hell out of them. Go with the Windsor. If you can afford the stroker kit, do it. The stock heads will need help unless you can pop for Trick Flows or AFR’s. With all that and a hot cam you got a screamer on your hands for new addition ‘68 fastback.

    Cool car and fantastic engine find [put that on on the engine stand and freshen it up with a 427 stroke job] :-)) My old man had a 1970 Torino wagon with the 302 in it. You could pull that dent out of it on this one 🙂 The disc brakes on this car should swap out to your vintage of Galaxie and could be used on one of your projects [and they still sell replacement parts for the calipers and shoes yada yada]. :-)) Fresh rings,, dingle ball hone job, lap the valve seats :-)) Maybe put some slightly higer compression pistons? Solid for sure. Cool!

      @@OmarRamirezGalaxie when I went out to BC to plant trees (40 years ago) I parked a dune buggy in moms driveway. Just last year, I found out that sometimes she would drive it, and pick up the neighbourhood kids and give them a joyride. We had a Volkswagen in ‘73, and she had a ‘36 ford with a rumble seat for her first car. Anyhow, I plant 15,000 trees, ride the bus across Canada, and she’s sold my dune buggy. I’ve never seen it since. I blew a piston out of that buggy the morning after I lost my virginity. Why do I tell you these things?!? Sick galaxy build, dude.

      That's a heavy engine for the car and it's suspension. Plus without a fair amount of money, the fe motors are low hp. In the movie Bullitt, the dodge had to drive slow for the ford to catch up. Which made me sad. I have never owned anything but ford's. I am sitting in my 1962 galaxie right now lol

    • @dougsguitarlounge7927
      @dougsguitarlounge7927 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @JohnGalt-vr3lx FE are around 580 lbs with aluminum intake compared to a 750+ lb 429/460. They do cost more but can make more hp and torque than the 351w. I've been racing FE 390s , 428cj since 1977 and love them. My 428cj made 560hp and my old 390 with Edlebrock rpm cam,intake and heads made 440hp. With .030 over 10.5 flat tops. Nice street motor.
