- Hey everyone back with more Scrap Mechanic Survival! Today we are finally going to build a dedicated trailer with a crane on it for capturing and retrieving our lost farmer friends! This trailer works with our transport truck and comes with a built in crane for lifting and storing farmers!

For anyone who had trouble getting this to work, here are some detailed instructions...
First row of gates: "OR" / "AND"/ "NOR"
Second row: "OR" / "NOR"
Third row: "AND" / "AND"
Controller Row: "SWITCH" / "BUTTON" / "BUTTON"
In the first row: Connect the "OR" gate to the "AND' gate, then the "AND' gate to the "NOR" gate, and then the "NOR" gate to the "OR" gate. That will give you a pulsing loop.
In the second row: Connect the "NOR" gate from the first row to the "OR" gate and the "NOR" gate in the second row.
In the third row: Connect the "OR" gate from the second row to the1st "AND" gate in the third row, now connect the "NOR" gate from the second row to the 2nd "AND" gate in the third row.
In the controller row: Connect the "SWITCH" and both "BUTTONS" to the driver chair. Now connect the #1 "SWITCH" to the "AND" gate in the first row, then both the "AND" gates in the third row. Now connect the #2 "BUTTON" to the "NOR" gates in the first and second rows. Now connect the #3 button to the "OR" gates in the first and second rows.
Now make an array of two pistons with one block in between them.
Example: "BLOCK" / "PISTON" / "BLOCK" / "PISTON" / "BLOCK".
Now connect the First (one on the left) "AND" gate in the third row to the inner most "PISTON" on the piston array, now connect the 2nd "AND" gate (the one on the right) in the third row to the outer most "PISTON" on the piston array.
Remember to set all the pistons to the exact same settings for the best result.
Now get in the driver chair, the control should work like this: "SWITCH" #1 should turn off the pulsing loop and retract the pistons. "BUTTON" #2 should retract the pistons, and "BUTTON" #3 should extend the pistons.

If the trailers get pushed back when you try to connect them, you should replace the bottom block of the trailer legs with a higher friction materiel.

@@tthung8668 The mannequin legs have more friction.
Also, the weight seems to be related to the number of individual 1x1 blocks that makes up something... so if a block takes up 10x10 then 2 weight means it weights 200 1x1 blocks... So the friction of a mannequin leg may be super high since it is higher than a wheel and it isn't a 5x5x2 ( or 3 ) for the big, and 3x3x2? for the small... the leg is only 1x2 or so...
Now, in real life the way friction works on wheels is the piece connecting to the ground uses static friction regardless of if it is moving or not. If you accelerate it too fast and it overcomes static friction then it slides.. otherwise the vehicle moves.

Actually I can see a lot simpler of design that doesn't use any logic gates but with a bunch of bearings like the way excavators work but with bearings instead of hydraulics

I wanted to share some information regarding garment boxes. There are a total of 82 different clothing. You unlocked 26 last time I believe. So you have 56 more. I think you can get them all from common garment boxes (but don’t quote me on that). So you might only need 280, or you might need quite a bit more.
In that case what would even be the point of the rarer boxes?
No you cant get epic rare or uncommon stuff from common boxes and vice versa.

You only get common from common, rare from rare, epic from epic. Once you have unlocked all of a type, for example I had unlocked all rare boxes, I could not open any more rare boxes however I could still unbox any epic or common. Now that I have all clothes I cannot open any other boxes.
The rarer the box the better the clothes but it's possible to get some common clothes then you won't get anymore

It'd be better if he used the crane to automatically move the farmers into the trailer by instead having a scoop/ cradle that automatically moves the farmers once say a sensor detects that there is a farmer in the scoop.

or he could put a sensor on the pin of the trailer so when he locks the pin, the sensor picks it up and the legs go up.

Make a garage for your cars that has a elevator that carries them up into the air

Since you are in the trucking business, it only makes sense to set up a multi-bay loading dock. This would help with the issue of leaving the 'compound' as well. Loving your series , thanks Kan!

THe pistons make for some really fun stuff. Most people build an elevator. I built shafts and use timed pistons on my vehicles to climb up into the air instead lol. I built the same cran setup connected to a rock / lumber mill for harvesting too.
cool! human trafficking... oh and to reach optimal steering radius, make the front concrete and then make the steering angle about 30 to 35 degrees. 45 is absolutely useless, as it will just slip.

45 doesn't usually slip, I have an 8-wheeler with 4 wheel steering all set to 45 and it works perfectly

Build a platform on the top of your wall with a ramp that can be lowered for driving in and out. Then you can turn the under side into your house. That way turning around inside your base can be left to the small vehicles while the truck sits up top with easy exiting.
i tried to make cranes before , but im not good enough with gates to pull it off . wow im impressed. Thx for the tips , going to build it exactly like yours until i get better with logics.

Hey Kan - Nice ideas. I built a car which has active vertical sawblades in the front and sides. The back is covered with flat sawblades. The car framework is small with double tires, as the saws are large. Suspension on each wheel has to upgraded 3 times. The SawCar works flawlessly, I can drive around anywhere and mow all the bots to smithereens. It's also great for defending farms. Simply drive around your plot and shred everything. It also destroys whole trees in next to no time. Would be nice to see you make one as they are most awesome.
You should but a free floating bearing on the trailer pin, allowing for better turning

When I did this I made a big cannon and it was amazing do you think you could make one to coz my dezine sucks it was just a piston that pushed it through a tube
Make a lid on the trailer so there is less risk when catching air and offroading
Yeah I just added one row of wood down the top of mine so I wouldn't lose em. Was good because I was driving much crazier

One thing that would be very useful, in the trailer, put a sensor behind the pin, as soon as it locks with the truck it retracts the support.
how you can do that logic off the top of your head.. thats goals right there.

You should really address the understeer on your big rig. you could move your back wheels further back, add a whole bunch of metal to the front, or knowing you, you could do some crazy dynamic braking system that brakes one set of wheels when turning a certain way.
Make another trailer atached to your other trailer for anything like food or farmers. Like a road train with the weels on the trailers being able to turn so it won't be hard to drive around.

The earmuffs really fit for a trucker, and a mechanic.
When you get to the trader to drop things off, turn left once you come through the wall opening. You should be able to just pull straight through with minimal backing up

Headlights go out in a huge wide cone. Paint some white. set them to max. Buil big struts way up in the air. I know from experience that you can light the entire trader canyon so that youd never know it was night time there with about 15 headlight put way up and pointed down towards the ground.

Hi Kan, if You make your trailer 17 wide you can fit two farmers next to each other and have capacity of 14 farmers also i've got same setup for hooking up a trailer and there is simple solution to solve your sliding trailer issue during hooking up. You just need to make legs 1 block longer and add another block of height clearence on truck hooking part (either raise the part with pipes or dig 1 block lower) then adjust the trailer pin if needed it works perfecty for me.

The harvesters make really cool roadsters if you have big wheels in the back
Make a vaulted top that upend up like a hot dog bun so you can put a ton in there and pile them up high!
You can weld The caged Dwarves!! They have little key holes that you can weld onto your vehicle!
You should turn your semi truck into a multi purpose truck by adding a built-in bed with foldable sides that is flush with the fifth wheel (also extend the truck chassis) with the ability of converting into a normal truck by detaching the trailer then unfolding the side panels

You should build a vehicle storage area for all of your trailers and cars
You should make the trailer 2 blocks wider just in case you can’t fit a 7 or just make it where u can have 8 farmers other than that I love it and you are doing so well keep it up
You should make the trailers attachable to each other. For this one, you should bring the crane to it's side.
Also, you should have made it an easily transforming into double and triple decker (with 2 different switches).
I got a pretty good idea for activating some light on the trailer so you can see your trailer cargo at night. Ao you replace the t piece on thw trailer hitch with a level 5 sensor facing forward and then select a color for it to detect. On the truck head hitching system, replace the "walls" of the inside of it with a pistin that raises a "wall" with the color you selected in the sensor and xonnect the piston to a switch or button. Now connect the sensor to whatever on the trailer and you got trailer lights controlled from the driver seat.
You sir are a legend... i have had trouble keeping a trailer hitched without it glitching out of the hitch mechanism.. i use a tractor to haul trailers and don't see me being able to use your method... everybody uses a semi so i wanted to be different but the struggle is real... love your vids bro. Wow, I just added a crane like grabber to my transport truck last night just for Caged Farmers, Kan's is much simpler than mine but that's awesome. Keep up the great content!
consider a stretched Rig hosting the crane leaving the entirety of the trailer for cargo.
note that you could have grabbed a 7th or even an 8th caged farmer and leave him in the claw for the trip
Now, adjust the trailer that the
1. crane can be moved outta way
2. Make the ground of the trailer be tiltable
That way, unloading would also work and look like a charm :D

I have a theory that I can't test rn because of missing school work but I believe that if you put a suspension on the pin it would allow for the trail to be higher up than the front so the front wheels would have my friction allowing for better turning

You should make a "sun roof" you can toggle so the top opens and closes, when you get a bumpy road they'll stay in

You should make pin able to turn freely. That should lower collisions between truck and pin.
you could extend the crane over the trailer twoards the truck to act as a barrier to make sure they dont bounce out. if needed.
7th can be added by grabbing with crane and keep it held in the crane and lowered down on top of trailer. the crane will hold it in place
If you build a boat in the garage, make the floor fold down, so the boat drops into the water to test if it floats.
Kahn you could add weight to the truck (and make it look good) by giving the truck a bumper that protrudes about a block from the front. make it out of metal.
I built a 6+1-axis robotic arm thanks to this video, I have it mounted on my raiding vehicle in survival.

you can put a block on some farmers then remove the block then you can get the farmers in your inventory
The truck is called a cab over and the trailer is called a flatbed with a lift or crane attachment. My husband and I used to own a cab over. It's called a cabover style because the cab is over the engine instead of out front of the truck like a Kenworth or Peterbilt. Of all the trucks a cab over has the shortest turn radius and even if you get that truck through , you will never get that trailer through driving like that. You should have it parked to drive straight out and can be backed straight in the gate.
