the story is that 200 years ago all the musicians were killed by the "unnameable". The unnameable is the kitten, but in a different form. the cat lures you in and in the beginning of the show the kitten transforms into the monster that it actually is. That’s why you see the kitten in the middle next to all the instruments and then it gets dark and you hear the growling of the monster
Even more so, if you're sitting at just the right bench (I think it was number VI), you can see a pair of giant eyes emerging from the box of instruments, further confirming that the kitten is transforming into the Unmentionable, as I like to call it.
I am always quite critical, but yesterday I was at Danse Macabre, short review: In the old Spookslot more happened behind the glass, such as moving skulls, hanging corpse that dangles up and down, hands that come out of the sand, graves that go up and down moving, 2 coffins opening, monks walking slowly past. However, in this new Danse Macabre many old acquaintances return, plus the ride experience is so beautiful, which ultimately makes this updated version more satisfying than the old Spookslot. The music has been shortened, but now sounds much more powerful, louder, clearer. And they have mixed the most beautiful pieces together well. And then I haven't even mentioned the queue outside. Herb garden, cemetery and woodland are really beautifully created. So Efteling, compliments again!!!

There also used to be an actual black cat walking around the park mostly at the Zwarte Kat restaurant / shop but he unfortunally died so the fact that the entire story is based on a black cat is amazing :D
I was with the last show of Spookslot and second to ride Danse Macabre ever last saturday with an exclusive event for subscription holders. It was so amazing at daylight but at night it looks so so so so much better, I found the ride to be quite short, however I asked one of the employees and they said it wasn't the full show so we got an exclusive show that was totally different somehow than the actual show that they show here. Absolutely AMAZING I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

@ yes, simply programmable. If I was the Efelting management i would create 12 exciting different programs, each month a different one. So rides will be slightly different for repeating visitors! A different surprise each time.
The interesting thing is, the original concept for Spookslot was this attraction, but was never realised at the time because I think limited technology and budget. Efteling explained it on their yt Channel along some other facts about the ride
In the future the rides "turnable?" Can probably be programmed to do different movements just like they can play with symbolica.. These rides will become classics and will entertain the next couple of generations.👍
Did you say the platform is 80 METERS wide? That is huge! It would fit an entire 747 plane on it. *edit* I got carried away, I looked up the specs and it’s 18 meters lol. Theming looks absolutely world class.
As cool as it looks, all these spins make me feel sick just watching them. I like doing 10 laps on Baron or Python, but this family attraction is just too intense for me. I think I'll just watch the wonderful QLine and then go straight to the exit! ^^
The ride itself moves pretty slowly, if you can handle 10 Laps at baron i promise you That this isnt as intense as it looks! You do NOT wanna miss this masterpiece of i ride!!!

I believe the ride isn’t entirely finished yet. The drop should make you fall down into the catacombs, but it doesn’t do that yet.
