One thing is important to remember: Efteling are story tellers. Everything is secondary to the stories. Their rides are not ‘the tallest’ or ‘the fastest’. That’s for other parks. This park tells stories, but you have to know them, of course. If you look closely, you can find a recap of every story at the attraction, also in English. (Example: De Vliegende Hollander/The Flying Dutchman. It tells the story of captain van der Decken, who has a secret stash of gold under his mansion, and an escape tunnel that leads via the seedy Inn to the harbor. He set sail on the holy day of Easter even though he was warned that he would be cursed. But his greed and the promised riches got the better of him and he ignored the warnings. Now he must sail the high seas for eternity.
Wow. That is awesome. I am one to appreciate a good theme, I'll have to do some more research next time. That is friggin' cool! Thanks for the comment!
You know, Eftelings Fata Morgana has no animatronics or other computer controlled puppets. It is driven all mechanically by this amazing system of cams, gears, wheels and wires. Making the puppets and animals move all at the same time. It repeats itself every time a boat passes. This system is designed and build by Efteling and they even got a patent on it. If you know this then you can imagine what the Eftelings effort is to maintain this ride. And to keep it running since 1989

The 3:54 actually is probably a very well known thing. If you fully turn it into english its flying hollander. But its more known as… the flying dutchman
Just to note, Python was, when it openend, the biggest metal coaster in Europe mainland and one of the first metal coasters in Europe. It's the main reason for why the track layout is so strange, almost like an old and simple rct blueprint.
If i remember correctly the efteling have their own youtube channel with all the stories subtitled Max and mortiz is a duelling coaster, the flags change based on wich coaster won. The flying dutchman is about how the merchant ship became a ghost ship, hence the part you go underwater, thats where it sank. the Baron is about a haunted mineshaft where a baron keeps sending miners in and they keep getting killed by the Witte Wieven (northern dutch legend) the python doesnt really have a story afaik Joris en the draak (joris and the dragon) is about a young man fighting a dragon Symbolica i havent ever been in (sadly) but from what i know of it, its the story of the old mascot of the park, you can use something in the cart to interact with stuff Vogel Rok is another legend and its about a giant thunderbird taking you to its nest to feed you to its youngs Villa volta sadly got removed but its about the goatriders being cursed so they can never rest , not even in their own home (this ride has been replaced by a simular ride where the carts move up and down and around too while the whole room moves around you) Droomvluch (dream flight) is just a serene travel into the Fea wild
But you guys didn't do any research beforehand? For example the "Vila Volta" is the first madhouse in the world. Before that the concept didn't really exist. And the reason why the efteling might seem a bit "weird" is because the surrounding villages were deep into the shoe making business so everyone worked in those harsh conditions right after world war II and other things. People wanted an escape from their way of living, so three people started the Efteling, and the fairytale forest was one of the first things that were built among other things that don't exist anymore. It is nice to know these things beforehand, especially when you're from a different culture! I really hope you had a great time!
@@NationalCoasters sure is, first time I went there was in the mid 80's and it is wild how much the park has changed. My mom has story's about the 60's when it was basically just an oversized playground.
Port adventura should be on the list because of how it looks and the attractions they have. Unfortunatly the operationpolicy's are so bad it's not even in my top 10 of favorite themeparks in europe.
You did pretty well for a first time visit it really is a 2 days park for your first visit if you wanna sort of do it all in a normale pace. Sorry that the park looks really bad this this Year with all the construction. As for Dream flight, you ever had a dream that overall really made sence? i don't and this is efteling interpretation of it. Nice to see a coaster lover enjoying himself so much in this park. Its me homepark and i have to say the Thrill department isn't great in this park everything else is right there in the top of themepark industry (yes universale and disney can build on a bigger scale with the money behind them. But overall i'm more impressed with parks like efteling that do it drom a relative tiney budget compaired to those). Well i hope you enjoyed ride to happeyness as much as i did look forward to your take on it.
Hey my friend! Thank you so much for the comment! Yes! I’m learning to appreciate all aspects of themed entertainment, not just coasters. Efteling was amazing!
I really liked the track design on Python. The ribbed look was unique. How is pricing in this European theme park? Are the food prices ridonkulous like they are in the States?
@@viderethevaccinatorfromhol7536 Nice. I have been truly put off by prices in the US. Rollercoasters are great, but a variety of experience is even better. Dark rides have all but disappeared or have been turned into silly laser games.
@davidhill2677 The Efteling is not the rollercoaster specialist in the Netherlands. That's Walibi Holland. Especially next year. The rollercoaster park of Europe is probably energylandia in Poland. Unfortunately, it's damn ugly. Europe does have some amazing theme parks. Most of the hugh rollercoaster manufacturers are European based. Intamin, Gmbh, Mack Rides, and of course Vekoma, and many more. Don't ask me why 😂 I like one lasergame dark ride. Unfortunately you will find them at every park nowadays. Efteling doesn't use screens.
Joris and the dragon has been the rebuild of pegasus the original wooden coaster. It has been retracked again due to the supports being damaged due to the speed. The dragon is called etna. And what you saw near symbolica is called the pagode its a flying tempel it gives an amazing view over the park. Symbolica is a ride that is about a ride through the secret chambers of the palace. Vogel rok is based in the story of sinbad. The monorail is in the village of laaf they needed to leave their country and dug a tunnel to the efteling. Villa volta is a cursed house from a local robber that was cursed and until someone with a clear mind enters his home it will stop so seemingly it setill does it to the day of today. It was the first of its kind from vecoma and was a big thing. droomvlucht is amazing. At the moment theres a new area open at the location of spookslot. Now theres the area of huiverwoud en the new first of its kind ride called dance macabre its a multi directional platform.
You forgot to add 'in my opinion'. I enjoy dark rides in between going on roller coasters and other thrill rides. Phantasialand doesn't deliver in that department. Also less friendly staff. Queue jumping German kids to deal with. I've been going to this park since at least 1980. Fantastic coasters and water rides, beautiful theming. Phantasialand doesn't disappoint in that regard.
The attraction's theme story revolves around a ghost story surrounding a conductor who is cursed. The attraction allows visitors to spin in multiple ways and in multiple directions, while creating a horror atmosphere with light and sound effects, moving set pieces and animatronics. Its very cool but there is always a very long line.

The 3:54 actually is probably a very well known thing. If you fully turn it into english its flying hollander. But its more known as… the flying dutchman
Im netherlands and the efteling is the best you also need to check out walibi in the netherlands
It is so good
Saturday i"m having a preview in the new attraction Danse Macabre. Wich opens on Halloween Day.
Heck yeah! Let us know how it goes!
So jalous couldn't make it to the previeuws so i'm going on the 4 th
Don’t like our POVs anymore huh? I’m heartbroken 💔 Nonetheless another banger
😂
I like them lol
Efteling is the best theme park from the netherlands for me
Just to note, Python was, when it openend, the biggest metal coaster in Europe mainland and one of the first metal coasters in Europe. It's the main reason for why the track layout is so strange, almost like an old and simple rct blueprint.
If i remember correctly the efteling have their own youtube channel with all the stories subtitled
Max and mortiz is a duelling coaster, the flags change based on wich coaster won.
The flying dutchman is about how the merchant ship became a ghost ship, hence the part you go underwater, thats where it sank.
the Baron is about a haunted mineshaft where a baron keeps sending miners in and they keep getting killed by the Witte Wieven (northern dutch legend)
the python doesnt really have a story afaik
Joris en the draak (joris and the dragon) is about a young man fighting a dragon
Symbolica i havent ever been in (sadly) but from what i know of it, its the story of the old mascot of the park, you can use something in the cart to interact with stuff
Vogel Rok is another legend and its about a giant thunderbird taking you to its nest to feed you to its youngs
Villa volta sadly got removed but its about the goatriders being cursed so they can never rest , not even in their own home (this ride has been replaced by a simular ride where the carts move up and down and around too while the whole room moves around you)
Droomvluch (dream flight) is just a serene travel into the Fea wild
But you guys didn't do any research beforehand? For example the "Vila Volta" is the first madhouse in the world. Before that the concept didn't really exist. And the reason why the efteling might seem a bit "weird" is because the surrounding villages were deep into the shoe making business so everyone worked in those harsh conditions right after world war II and other things. People wanted an escape from their way of living, so three people started the Efteling, and the fairytale forest was one of the first things that were built among other things that don't exist anymore. It is nice to know these things beforehand, especially when you're from a different culture! I really hope you had a great time!
Thank you! So much cool history with this park and its fans!
@@NationalCoasters sure is, first time I went there was in the mid 80's and it is wild how much the park has changed. My mom has story's about the 60's when it was basically just an oversized playground.
Great video👌 definitely a top 5 themeparc in Europe☝,
1. Europapark
2. Phantasialand
3. Efteling
4. Energylandia
5. Port Aventura
Love this list! Though, PortAventura is atrociously operated.
In terms of theming I actually think it’s the best.
Port adventura should be on the list because of how it looks and the attractions they have. Unfortunatly the operationpolicy's are so bad it's not even in my top 10 of favorite themeparks in europe.
No Disneyland?
@@wardcollector2503 Lots of people aren't that charmed about disney.
Fata Morgana is so cool dude
the music is what makes this ride special to me. serves the ride really well.
Efteling is the best park
If you ever go again, I highly recommend going with a fan, they'd probably love to translate all the stories to English.
If you don't know how to pronounce Joris: It's the dutch version of George.
The Netherlands, the home of VEKOMA.
I really liked the track design on Python. The ribbed look was unique. How is pricing in this European theme park? Are the food prices ridonkulous like they are in the States?
Not even close. $45,- day pass and very modest food and beverage prices. You can bring your own food and drinks.
@@viderethevaccinatorfromhol7536 Nice. I have been truly put off by prices in the US. Rollercoasters are great, but a variety of experience is even better. Dark rides have all but disappeared or have been turned into silly laser games.
Great question! Not at all, so much more affordable and much more quality. Food in America is sad…
@davidhill2677 I have visited many of the American parks. They are crazy expensive indeed. I can't wait until Epic Universe opens. Very promising.
Don't ask me why 😂
I like one lasergame dark ride. Unfortunately you will find them at every park nowadays. Efteling doesn't use screens.
2:55 that was the first voaster i did and it goes mor ethen that thats a worm up
Joris and the dragon has been the rebuild of pegasus the original wooden coaster.
I could not beleef you never did a Vekoma Mad House! Your lucky, Villa Volta is the first one made and still considert the best in the World.
12:14 USED TO BE? HE IS THE AWESOME MASCOT!
Hope you guys are visiting Phantasialand, even more fun then Efteling!
Stay tuned! 😊
More thrill rides, yes. But definitely not better in storytelling & theming.
😊😊😊
The best attraction in the Efteling is Carnaval Festival, how could you forget that one 😅
ik ben daar bij de Efteling
Did you not walk round the forest and see all the fairytale animatronics? It’s the best part of Eftling ❤
We did in the evening! I didn’t film much of it, but it was great!
You realy have to go to dance macabre, i promise its worth the long line.
Oo im going next week what kind of ride is it??
The attraction's theme story revolves around a ghost story surrounding a conductor who is cursed. The attraction allows visitors to spin in multiple ways and in multiple directions, while creating a horror atmosphere with light and sound effects, moving set pieces and animatronics.
Its very cool but there is always a very long line.
@@Oliviaisaqueenlivies4ever i dont really ab how long wait times are haha, is the drop fun? And where is the most fun to sit
@@Monchimikoolaid its not like a rollercoaster, there is like a big wheel with seats and i think that the frondrow is the most fun.
@ oki oki, im going with a bunch of friends so i bet its gonna be sooo funnn, what other things do u recommend?
All rides are a bit short but the theming is the best😊
at 2:45 you see a new attraction called danse macabre(dance of death) made by intamin. it opens to the public in 10 days..shall I give you a link? to see what it's like
Oh yeah. Send it on over
@@NationalCoasters You might want to go to the Eftelings TH-cam channel and watch some of the amazing Making Of series (Eng subs) there are a few attractions you can see how they build it and some of the stories behind them, great material for reaction vids or learning more about the rides and what makes the Efteling so.... lovable...
@@NationalCoasters th-cam.com/video/8vmI9sqUZAI/w-d-xo.html this is one
th-cam.com/video/ZdJ2xwvOSxc/w-d-xo.html and this one is the making of a 7 part series where they build the ride and tell the story of the ride
Why did you skip the pre-lift show at baron 1898?!?!?!?
We did?
@ “hoogmoed komt voor den val!” The wailing women had a few words to say. I’ve been in there at least 15 times.
I’m from the 🇳🇱 😊
i live ther its indeed a good acractien
Im netherlands and in a year im going to the efteling 23 times
Can you go to wildland,Emmen, Nederland next pls its a zoo but it has a coster
You say it like flee gun the Hollander
2:27 it is max and MORITZ
5:36 those are meant to be the witte wieven
You forgot carnaval festival next time you go there again you sould try it.
it's max en moritz love the pronounciation
It's by far the best theme park in the world, it is however the best THEMED park...sad you missed half of the park on this video though...
I wish we had another day!
i live almost next to it
I honestly like energylandia in Poland more. Efteling is very great tho tbh
How are you going to efteling without going to the fairytale forest what a shame
0:39 it’s called the djinn (I come there a lot)
Vliegende holander is real coo
I live in nederlend
Im from nederlands
Carnaval
It's kinda interesting..the things you call bizar and weird, we call beautiful.
Maybe it is a cultural difference
Vogel means bird
Als je dit translate dan wil ik je laten weten dat de Efteling ongelofelijk is 😊
not the best theme park, but it is best THEMED park
Also the best in storytelling 100%.
Im netherland!
Weird is just a matter of perspective. Stop looking for storylines. Make up your own.
Oh noooo! You didn't like Symbolica!
Ja
De Efteling is very good yes but there are better parks, for example is Europa-Park in Germany better. It's outstanding and you need at least 3 days to see everything.
Me as a Netherlands men I liked this video an you say the VLIEGENDE Hollander 😂
If you Wana know this click on read more (it’s creepy)
Once in the villa Volta it didint look like it goes a looping ITBWAS GOING A LOOPING
Aso the people just thought oh it just the ride
In the truth it’s just the house moving ❤
So that was realy scary 💀💀
got to admit, they put the Theme into Themepark.... but the rides are just meeeh....
joris en de draak
weird. My brother and dad told me its boring there
You dont have to say 'wow' and 'so cool' every second. You will annoy the people around you
Efteling ✖️ phantasialand ✔️
I love Efteling, think Walibi Holland is better for the thrills tho in the Netherlands
Definitely agree! I would go for Efteling as the park experience though for sure 👍
@@NationalCoasters I love python to bits tbf. CSM have done such a good job retracking it and the Vekoma vest restraints were definitely a good call replacing the kumbak ones
