- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 15 ม.ค. 2025
- In today's video, my friend Anna and I are talking about feeling lost between two cultures. We've both experienced a bit of an identity crisis because we know we'll never be Chinese but we are also not fully our own nationality anymore. If you feel lost, I hope our little chat can help you.

Hi! Anna, may your family be blessed this Chinese New Year with happiness, good health and wealth. Lingling, thank you for sharing. The world is my country. There is no set path. So follow your heart. Happy Birthday!
+Voltaire Duterte happy Chinese new year on behalf of Anna and her fam as well. Thank you for always watching and supporting x
I don't think it is unique to China, it is a universal and natural feeling. I'm in the West 15 years and I'm still a foreigner even to my immediate friends.
+Bobbur Borjigin yep I think so too but now our focus is China so that's why we talk about our experience here 😁
Yes, but being in a somewhat racially/ethnically homogenous area is way different than many Western countries (ex. USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, etc...). But not all Western countries are super diverse either, but they tend to have somewhat of a understanding that you are different and an individual. China is very much uses the "we" term to describe people. Very different.
Any political community tends to imagine itself as a union by using "we" term, such as we British, we Canadians and we Americans, in order to promote the coherence of its social members, which inevitably excludes people from other regions and thus leads to the establishment of a common identity. Although Western countries may be more diverse than China is, such phenomenon of the imagining of a community still exists as a political practice in the West. (since the establishment of the Westphalian system?)
Good video! And I think what your ay is true - after having lived abroad for a while, you're always be a little odd, whichever country you're in.
+Miriam In China yep we can't go back to who we were before moving away and it's okay. It's just easier for me to accept and live with in China than if I was back in Denmark :)
Foreigners are always considered visitors in China by people who don't know the circumstances (unless perhaps they are ethnically Chinese). As foreigners we have to accept that, but that doesn't mean we can't feel at home here for however long we stay. I try to look at it positively as having two homes - where I grew up and where I live now.
don't be upset, that is very normal. many 3rd generation chinese american still feel un-secured, now with china-usa relationship worsen, these chinese american feel more "outsider" as u can imagine.
What you described is so true Linling, when I or my friends need to go somewhere we also find 30 minutes a long distance since my country is small 😂 I guess it just Depends in wich country you grew up. Und friendliche gruBen an Anna!
+Florence M haha yes I guess it does :p
Be true to yourself. You are unique in your own way. Don't laugh when you don't want to and don't push yourself so hard to be in that culture when you don't want to. When you accept yourself, you will find you accept everything around you.
+Mike Gu sounds very nice yes :)

Do you take Vitamin A D back home in Denmark? How do you overcome the darkness in Winter?
+The Last Knight of Silk Road lol because I live in China. I don't have to deal with the dark winter. I do eat vitamins but staying in China were light is a think every day all year around make it easy to be happy.
Why are you always so happy? I found people from northern European countries tend to be very depressed, especially those from Sweden.
You are so cute when you imitate your hometown friends complaining about traffic.
+ukyee hehe 😁
I believe her Chinese name is yin yin and she sell a hand made noodle and she is from Shanghai
I feel so chinese after only 2 years here. When i go back i dont feel like i belong as much. Def feel like i belong in china more.
+Skye Chavis yep it happens a lot. It's interesting and frustrating both at the same time. I know it would be hard for me to date in the West again because I'm so used to Chinese ways now
What happen to the thesis paper you were going to be working on?
+Patricia Howell this was filmed before the other video. I actually worked on it for nine hours to Anhui and nine back again
Lenaaround wow didn’t expect you to reply. I'm happy you got the work done. I can put off such important work and wanted to encourage you to get it done. You are doing a wonderful job with so many projects going. Glad you were able to visit with this friend. Thanks for the window into your life. Blessings.
Is your thesis about social media? If yes, you certainly enjoy doing it.
+Alex Lok nah it's not, sth close though
新年快乐。
+Mèo Tôm 春节快乐!
As always Lingling well presented and very informative video to add to your growing AMWF series ☺️
+Jessie Horne it's slowly growing haha
You are a European girl who likes Chinese culture, and you are a global citizen. That's great. Why you have to be Chinese? No. Like here in the States, people call me Chinese, American Chinese, Chinese American, whatever way, I am fine with it. I belong to either continent.
+Jon Pan i guess I don't. I just really wanted to at some point
Ling Ling, you look great with that hair style and smile. Happy New Year from New York City. 🎉
+Andrew 82 lol that's my hair when I hate it the most, flat and boring haha, thanks anyways and happy CNY :D
Anna is so cute and beautiful. I'm Chinese guy, wish i had a wife like her.
