Dearest dr Kat, this post was exactly what I needed, and it is such a happy wonderful feeling to be understood. I have no one around who understands or knows ankthin about HSP. As a HSP mother with a 4 years old HSP son and a 1 year old daughter it was a God sent help and encouragement for me. Best wishes and God bless from Germany.

I’m so glad this is supportive for you. We need to know that our feelings are valid and that we aren’t alone.

I've found it so hard since I got pregnant with my second. I'm now rage screaming at my 6 and 1 year the last few days.
My partner is so unhappy with the person I've become and I'm so unhappy with my life right now.

oh, I'm so sorry to hear that it's been so hard! you can get help to feel better. there are a lot of great therapists out there who specialize in supporting pregnant, postpartum and parents in the early years. go check out www.postpartum.net under "get help" there is also a national therapist directory. please get the support you deserve so that you can get back to feeling how you want to feel.

*Very HSS HSP, working single mom of two energetic boys (5 & 8)… thank you soooo much for this 😅. I have a great life, but it is A LOT. This conversation makes me feel less alone, crazy, and guilty and gives me helpful tools for doing the best I can ❤👩‍👦‍👦. To others in a similar position- I’m sure you’re doing way better than you feel you are 🤗

Thank you I really needed this information. I have been experiencing many situations lately and I just feel absolutely guilty. Not knowing what I was feeling or what was triggering it has made me feel like an incompetent mom and wife. It’s difficult to even explain at times. Then growing up in a Hispanic household with old mind sets I experience this a lot but know I feel like there’s a word to what I feel. I am beyond grateful for this topic for the podcast. Thank you!!!!

You’re so very welcome. It’s so hard to feel misunderstood and disoriented by your experience. You’re definitely not alone in these feelings. The cultural factors make it so complex too. If you haven’t yet heard some of the episodes that talk about perinatal mental health and highly sensitive motherhood and also other episodes the Latina experience, there are a few on the podcast and some in Spanish for those who want that. I wish you the best!

Watching this because I feel like because of my mental illnesses I shouldn't be a mom

I’m sorry I didn’t get to this comment earlier. You can be a mom with mental Illness. So May of us suffered through depression, anxiety and other conditions. You can get help to cope and manage how you’re doing. Therapy is so helpful for this. I hope you get the support you deserve. Listen to the other episodes on the podcast that might relate to how you’re feeling. Then you’ll know that you’re a good mom even if you don’t feel in like it sometimes 🤍

I wish there was a support group for us mom's who may be neurodivergent or otherwise thriving with signing depression, anxiety,, cptsd etc. The fact that we are here means we are at bare minimum functioning in awareness/ desire to change. That's a big protective factor for our babies!

I was ready to go find something else to watch bc of all the commercials… not good for a podcast on OVERSTIMULATION … sure let me throw in commercials every two minutes to the people who get overstimulated and are looking for help…
