    i recently landed on the gx85 for my first interchangeable lense camera for just the reasons you mentioned. the portability, the quality, the price, and compactness of the mft lens system was so enticing. even despite its age it does everything i could want for photography and more. i can see why people who primarily do videography or 50/50 hybrid artists might not like it as much as more modern alternatives, but its perfect for me rn.
    that said i am looking at getting a fixed focal length compact camera to be a pocketable every day device. i love the idea of the ricoh griii, but given used it costs almost as much as the gx85 and the 4 lenses i have for it combined, i might end up with the fuji xf10 instead.

      !! Which 4 lenses do you have for the gx85? And I do think the xf10 might be a bit of a steal for a pocket camera. If you’re looking for more sample photos I have a video where I take the xf10 and my DJI pocket 3 to a museum. I loved being able to slide both of them in my jean pockets

      i currently have the panasonic 20mm f1.7, 14-140mm (gen 1), 9mm f1.7, and Olympus 45 f1.8. i intend to pick up the panasonic leica 15mm f1.7 also soon as an alternative to the 20mm as a walk around lens.
      ill take a look at your vid! at nearly half the price of the ricoh, the xf10 really does seem like a more "purchase on a whim" friendly camera lol

      😂 you are stacked with the lenses. I love it. And one thing I’ll say about the xf10 is that it honestly feels like a much older camera than the gx85. It’s something I don’t mind at all since that camera to me is so convenient but if you’re looking for a pocket camera that feels modern and snappy 😅 that ain’t it

      yeah haha. i had about a grand to spend on the system as a whole and got the gx85 over the gx9 or any of sony or fujis offerings in part cos i figured id benefit more from being able to experience more glass than i would from having a newer (and more expensive) body. its been fun to play with them, and im looking forward to doing more when i move to a more photographically interesting city in the near future.
      yeah i will keep that in mind. i dont currently expect to be doing any fast paced photography that requires modern and snappy. so i think the xf10 might do the job for me. if i do end up needing something faster i dont think it would be too much of a loss to sell it and go for the ricoh. they seem to hold their value reasonably well.

      @@natalyakeane yes! I had very similar thinking about I could always sell the xf10 if I wanted to upgrade to the Ricoh or honestly just give it to my partner so she has a point and shoot with insane image quality (she very much likes the point and shoot film camera).

    Another thing I like about the LUMIX g85 is that if I attach an old vintage lens with an adapter to my g85, it recognizes what’s going on and asks me the focal length of the lens so it can adjust the IBIS. Smart camera that enhances the flexibility factor, and shooting w vintage lenses is a lot of fun.

    Good video. Thanks for taking us through your thought process. Do you consider battery life as an important factor in camera choice? How many lenses do you usually rock on an average outing?

    • @3goodeyes
      @3goodeyes  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching! Battery life can definitely be a huge factor for me depending on what I’m doing. When I go on professional shoots I don’t want to feel limited by my battery or miss shots because I was switching batteries. But I will say that for personal work I don’t really mind switching batteries or plugging my camera into a battery bank while I take a little break. And I’ve found most OEM batteries to have pretty solid battery life. So far my X-Pro3 seems to drain the fastest and my Sony A7IV seems to last the longest.

    I have a lot of friends who are stand up comedians, and I've been recording their performances. A couple weeks ago my friend asked me "What's a good cheap camera I can buy to record my stand up?" A friend of hers suggested that if she got a camera then her videos would turn out better. So my first questions was "What's your budget?" It's a really tough question because every venue is totally different, usually the lighting isn't good, and recording sound is going to be really important. I think she was trying to keep it under $200 and I suggested to her honestly she might just be better off continuing to use her phone, or just call me because I have all the gear already. 🤣 But I appreciate your thoughts on some of your favorite go-to cameras. I noticed you hadn't gotten any comments yet so I just wanted to say that your sample images look really good. A lot of them fly by really fast but they're really filmic and cool. 👍

      Thanks for commenting! And yeah I bet those stand up situations are super tough especially for the audio and mixed lighting.
