I bought one of the most affordable Lumix Megazoom lenses
Next month we're headed to Japan so I decided to pick up a super affordable megazoom Lumix lens. The 45-150mm f4-f5.6 will made the cut for a few reasons that we'll discuss in this video. The size/weight are unbeatable and I'm excited to see what the image quality looks like after a few days of travel.

i feel like the result for this camera are better than ricoh gr 3
👀 I’ve never had a gr3 but I def agree this camera packs a punch. Especially with the Panasonic 20mm 1.7. And the files are so pushable you can get whatever look you want out of it
I had this lens and I liked it very much as a travel lens. It has great reach but it is not as wide as like when I’m visiting cities or towns in Europe that have Medieval roots.
@@gcprost that makes sense! Did you end up getting an “all in one” kind of zoom?
@@3goodeyes For a time I used a 12-40 f2.8 Olympus, last year when I went to the Netherlands, I used my phone. We will be leaving for Spain shortly and I will bring my new 12-60 f2.8-4 Leica.

HI ya. This is interesting because I was looking on MPB at one of these over the weekend, very affordable, and lightweight. I will look forward to see what you get up to with it in Japan.

@@martingreenberg870 what’s your favorite small lumix lens 👀
Another thing I like about the LUMIX g85 is that if I attach an old vintage lens with an adapter to my g85, it recognizes what’s going on and asks me the focal length of the lens so it can adjust the IBIS. Smart camera that enhances the flexibility factor, and shooting w vintage lenses is a lot of fun.
@@edmundschubert4963 you right! I love a vintage/manual lens on this camera
Hi ya. You made some good points in this video that I am sure will send people down the path of trying film. Shooting with film is a more tactile process, especially if you involve yourself with printing. Laters...
@@colingerard7863 printing photos is such a cool part of the photography process. I’ve never done the scanning or developing myself but it might be something I try eventually to go from start to finish.
@@3goodeyes Hi ya. Go even more old school and use find a lab with enlargers, make paper contact sheets, and best of all watching your pictures come through on the paper in dev trays. Hi ya. I am strolling around your channel after watching the walks around Durham video and, uh oh, I see you were over here recently. Firstly, congratulations on not being knocked over looking the wrong way as you crossed the street, its a common sight. It is always interesting to see what visitors take pictures of when they come here. Was it your first visit, and if so, what was it like compared to any expectations you may of had. Did you like the buses and trains? I liked the shots on the Nikon. Laters...
@@colingerard7863 hahah thank you. I’m glad I didn’t get knocked over too. It was my first visit and I didn’t really have any expectations so I’d say it exceeded them. The public transport is great. I love having multiple options to get somewhere. And the Nikon + cinestill 400D is a goooood combo. If you make it to the cruise video there’s more of the same there. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hi ya. What % of quality do you lose on the pictures when its loaded to YT? Have you been to Durham in the north of England? Its interesting to see the tempo at which you take pictures, more considered than 'shoot and scoot'. You were right to turn back for the shot with the reflection and people going into the shop. Enjoy the weekend.
@@colingerard7863 hey hey! I haven’t noticed a super big difference in image quality when I upload in 4K vs 1080p but that could also be because I export from Lightroom at 100% and don’t do any zooming into the images. Never been to the UK Durham but would love to go. Yeah sometimes it just feels nice to take my time with photography but I’m not always able to. And thank you/thanks for watching and commenting. Good video. Thanks for taking us through your thought process. Do you consider battery life as an important factor in camera choice? How many lenses do you usually rock on an average outing?
Thanks for watching! Battery life can definitely be a huge factor for me depending on what I’m doing. When I go on professional shoots I don’t want to feel limited by my battery or miss shots because I was switching batteries. But I will say that for personal work I don’t really mind switching batteries or plugging my camera into a battery bank while I take a little break. And I’ve found most OEM batteries to have pretty solid battery life. So far my X-Pro3 seems to drain the fastest and my Sony A7IV seems to last the longest.
I have a lot of friends who are stand up comedians, and I've been recording their performances. A couple weeks ago my friend asked me "What's a good cheap camera I can buy to record my stand up?" A friend of hers suggested that if she got a camera then her videos would turn out better. So my first questions was "What's your budget?" It's a really tough question because every venue is totally different, usually the lighting isn't good, and recording sound is going to be really important. I think she was trying to keep it under $200 and I suggested to her honestly she might just be better off continuing to use her phone, or just call me because I have all the gear already. 🤣 But I appreciate your thoughts on some of your favorite go-to cameras. I noticed you hadn't gotten any comments yet so I just wanted to say that your sample images look really good. A lot of them fly by really fast but they're really filmic and cool. 👍
Thanks for commenting! And yeah I bet those stand up situations are super tough especially for the audio and mixed lighting.
Can I have it pls?

Great video man! Quick question, how do you get some of your photos to look like they were shot on a pro most filter? Basically how do you get your photos to look dreamy. Thanks!
Thank you! 😂 sometimes I do use a pro-mist filter (the 10% cinebloom). But also pulling down the clarity slider in lightroom does wonders for making a photo look dreamy, especially if it's backlit.
@@3goodeyes thanks for responding!
@@samuelteshome6771 you’re welcome!
Awesome video! I really liked the colors 👌🏼! Btw quick tip to help you out, when you’re editing a video, make the timeline 2180p. You don’t have to record in 4K for the timeline to be in 4K. Just letting you know so that you can export and upload in 4K. I just like watching videos in 4K 😂. Hope this helps tho 🫡
😂 I get it. I like watching 4k content too. I’ve been leaving the POVs as 1080 to give them a more natural feel vs the higher production look I’m going for in the 4k photography vlogs I upload. Maybe I’ll do a 4k POV one day just to see if I still like them when they are that crispy. Thanks for watching and commenting-I’m glad you liked the colors 😎
@@3goodeyes my bad I didn’t know lol. You can still record in 1080p but still also upload that 1080p footage in 4K if you wanna keep the look. I wasn’t sure if you knew that. When you upload in 1080p it just looks compressed. Either way, keep up the videos bro. I don’t subscribe to many people, but I definitely subbed to you 🤙🏼
@@imjesusmgarcia1997 I appreciate it!!
Do you have a preset you use? Also, do you shoot fully manual? IF so, any tips for shooting fully manual with the GX85 for street photography?
A lot of the photos in this POV were edited with Adrien Sanguinetti's present pack! I love his photography style and his presets are a great starting point for editing. I don't shoot in fully manual unless I want something specific (slower shutter speed, high contrast exposure, etc.). I shoot in aperture priority mode 90% of the time and have for a few years now.
whats the best lens for this camera?
I like the 20mm 1.7. It's inexpensive, sharp, and an easy lens to just leave on your camera.
Great video. I loved the shots where you could see the moon against the blue sky. So beautiful! 😍
The mooooon!! 🌕 I’m glad you liked it
Durham looks like a beautiful city! Love the stabilization on the new action camera, I hate moving with a GoPro
It really is and the food is 🔥 too. And yeah I’ve been impressed by the go3 so far. Should make videos like this a lot easier.
I got one in lite brown
They made the GX85 in brown? That’s kinda wild. I haven’t seen that
Great photos! I also own a GX85 :D Could you make a video showing how you edit these?
I will try to!
Where do you live where the weather is so cold that people are wearing coats still? Alaska or Canada or something? It's been like 95+ degrees here for the past month and a half

20mm 1.7 ❤❤❤
It’s sooo good!
Quick question , does yours pre focus when you half press , then take a photo once fully pressed ? Or does it pre focus and take the shot all in one press?
I definitely half press to acquire focus. The biggest reason I do that is to see if the auto flash is going to fire before I actually take the photo. I don’t ever want to be surprised by the blinding light 😂
@@3goodeyes I picked up one of these recently and for some reason mine doesn’t auto focus when I half press . It seems to just focus and take the shot when I try to half press it.
@@rvph_viz oh dang! Taking point and shoot to the next level 😂 How have the photos come out so far?
Love getting a look behind the scenes and learning more about your thought process with shoots like these! The photos came out great 😍
☺️ thank you!! It was definitely fun to make a BTS so hopefully I have the chance to make more in the future
Thank you for an interesting walk around Durham. Many of your shots will be a valuable inspiration to me. I do have a technical question though, if you'll allow me. As we know, the GX85 does not have a stand by mode. Do you use the DISP button to turn off the screen during a photo walk? But then, after all, the autofocus is working all the time. How do you deal with that? And one more question: which autofocus mode is best for you? Thank you and best regards.
Thanks for checking out the video! I’m glad you liked it. And I don’t mind getting technical at all! I’ve found the battery life on the GX85 to be solid so I don’t turn off the display during photo walks. Sometimes if I know I’m going to take a longer break between photos I’ll just turn the whole camera off since it boots on pretty quickly but yeah I haven’t had any issues with battery life or missing shots from either leaving it on or turning it off intermittently. And for autofocus I’d say 95% of the time I’m in face/eye detect AFS or 49 AFS (I find they work pretty similarly) but whenever I want to spot meter I’ll change the autofocus to match. And very rarely I’ll use manual focus with peaking (I have one ttartisan manual focus lens). Let me know if that helps!
@@3goodeyes Thank you very much for your quick and professional response. You give me the courage to take street photos. I've only had the GX85 for a few days and haven't gotten to know it well yet. Your opinion is very valuable to me. So I will be experimenting with face detection and 49 in AFS. Previously, I took photos with a big and heavy DSLR camera. And everyone knows that such a camera is not suitable for street photography. Thank you and good luck :)
