  • This video straddles the line between a lore video and part of my walkthrough. I talk about the various events leading up to where we are in Norrath's history, including the present which I call "The Human Age".
P.S. I've had people ask if there's a way to support the channel. After looking at the options, I started a Buy Me A Coffee page because it doesn't require any registration or recurring subscriptions. If you want to support me, I appreciate it! But there's no pressure, I'm here to create fun content for people to enjoy however they please. www.buymeacoffee.com/sagefreke1K

Humans spring from a group of Barbarians who traveled south.
Erudites are a subsect of humans who broke away to study magic exclusively.

Thank you for this! I'll do some more research and mention that in my next video

@@SageFreke1 And the diety that created the Barbarians was the Marr twins, so in a way the Humans can claim Mithaniel and Erollisi as their creators.

What an awesome game we get to play with such depth and complexity of lore. Just classic Everquest is a treasure trove or learning an exploration.

Don't forget that humans are the main faction in pre kunark who will trade to anyone (the gypsys)

Barbarians moved South and became humans, some humans went with erud to Erudin and became Erudites. I think that the EQ era would be a time of humans settling in to competition with the other races. The era of the Combine Empire saw humanity at its zenith, with teleportation spires all over the world (including Kunark in the Dreadlands) and settlements on Luclin that went on to become all of the human cities and factions up there. Humanity was ascendant and the Dark Elves and their deity assassinated the Emperor of the Combine and tore it apart (See the book, Ocean of Tears). Love the videos man, I think you could do even better with some additional research :)

Really interesting points here and I’ve never taken the time to think about this. Love this style of video!

On Vallon and Tallon Zek, the team PvP servers, the different races are divided into four teams. The Humans, Erudite, and Barbarians are on the Human team, the blue team. The Elf team is the Wood Elves, High Elves and the Half Elves, the yellow team. The shorty team is composed of the Dwarves, the Halflings and the Gnomes, the purple team. The Dark team, the red team (best team), is the Dark Elves, Ogers and Trolls.
The colors of the teams was the color of the players name tags. You could not attack another player on your own team, but the other three teams were fair game.
I say on this because it supports your theory from the developer perspective, in a since.

    Good video. :)
I'd also argue that part of the human success is the massive network of communications they have established throughout the world. Even as deep as Innothule Swamp (aka Norraths butthole) you have human bards sending reports and messages out.

Hopefully soon people will start making Lore videos using EQOA, it's slowly coming back, and it offers a glimpse 500 years into Norraths past! Blackburrow for example has a small company of dwarves who helped to dig the site... many EQ fans have no idea about that.

Oh it's no doubt the humans are the superior race of them all. In eq2, Freeport and qeynos is where everybody ends up fleeing to because their own homes they failed to secure

    • @EQOAnostalgia
      @EQOAnostalgia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

This is from Tolkien largely and his age of man arch. It was adopted into EQ, not sure if D&D also uses it, but it's a staple of high fantasy that the Humans are the long standing and superior race being the most balanced.

Interesting but the barbarians were there first then as time went on they shrank in size in some areas. Eventually developing the human race. Then the erudite went from humans only focusing on intelligence and a magical effect(don’t remember what exactly happened) but they were developed from there

We always said qweynos. And we also pronouced firiona vie like firiona vey. Idk why. I mean, back then how would we really know? We didn't have Google or Wikipedia. We were using AOL and chat rooms.. I can't remember their names, I wish someone could remind me. Getting older sucks.

In my opinion it is entirely appropriate to pretend that the cities are actually larger than what you see in the game .

I would for sure argue that barbarians are not humans. we actually do know the lore of the creation of barbarians. they are definitively not human.
