    Greetings. I did this for 3 years straight. I would like to give feedback to those who wish to begin this journey and wondering if it will be worth it.
    I continued to eat meat from time to time and consumed alcohol very very rarely. I limited socializing to a minimum that I could sustain without any complaints. I always read comparative theology (materials that I felt inclined to). I approached the process as if its an experiment and in a playful mood, with little expectation. My goal then, was to get my financial situation back on track and have decided to start by sorting my mind.
    Results:
    First of all, the benefits Yogananda mentions are definitely there. At the end of the second year, without knowing that its possible, I gained "skills and intiution" that may seem superhuman for some (improvements regarding physical and nonphysical senses).
    Secondly, something interesting started to happen. A strange feeling of peace and joy (some call bliss) started to come. This lasts 3-4 seconds each time.
    Eventually, I started to understand and later know what masters meant by "forgiveness, acceptance, not-judging, surrender and unconditional love".
    For those who wonder, my routine was:
    Mourning: Wake up, drink a glass of water, meditate at least 15 mins.
    During the day: meditate as many times as I like, sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes an hour (never with a full stomach).
    Night: At least 2 hours after dinner, before sleep, meditate for at least 15 minutes.
    So daily duration would vary between 30 mins to 3 hours.
    Hope this helps.

      In Yogic Traditions, there are also some important disciplines like Brahmacharya, Sattvic Diet, Getting up early and sleeping early, Moderate quantity of diet, Cleanliness of body and surroundings, Getting initiated and practicing under the guidance of the Guru etc., which if followed [infact scriptures mention to follow them necessarily] along with Kriya Yoga or any other Yogic practice, it would enhance and heighten the practice hugely and intensely deeper and vibrant effects can be felt much more clearly and sooner, for a long lasting duration. 🌺✨

    I love your Voice. It is calming to hear and your videos have been of great help. I am very new to meditation and I have only reached a state where l can control my thoughts and with meditation i have been able to stop the monkey chatter going on in my mind. I can only manage to sit still for 5 minutes and I meditate daily for 20 mins just focusing on my breath and visualizing that I am the light being. Jai shree Krishna!!!!

    I read Autobiography of a Yogi many years ago and soon after had a life-changing spiritual experience that only lasted a week or two, but I'll never forget it. I don't know if the two are related, but his teachings have always resonated with me. Anyway, I'm nowhere near ready for a practice as advanced as Kriya Yoga...I'm just looking for guidance on the right type of yoga for me as I have very little experience with it.
    @Hinduism As It Is - I've noticed when I breathe into certain stretches that I have what I interpret as blockages or holes in my energy body that I can feel physically in my body. I don't think it's anything actually physical as they'll often change spots as I work one out. What I've found is that when I put pressure on them with my hand, it feels slightly painful or tender to the touch, almost like pressing on a bruise. After some time of doing this and stretching/breathing they will often go away and I'll notice my energy rush back into my body. Consequently, meditation and stillness is much, much easier and more natural. Can you recommend a type of yoga that will help me fix these energy leaks or blockages?

    • @HinduismAsItIs
      @HinduismAsItIs  ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Glad to know that you had a positive life-changing experience, even if it may not be related with you reading the Autobiography of a Yogi. I really hear you and it's good that you haven't, unlike many, hastily and carelessly started doing some random yoga practices. Doing these practices that deal with prana, chakras, nadis and Kundalini shakti directly can be harmful if done without proper guidance and without supervision of a proper master. And yes indeed, meditation and inner-stillness is really great and strongly effective, if you are doing that regularly. It cleanses the whole system as well.
      Also, what you're going through, does seem like some blocks or subtle impurities in your pranic body but tbh, I am not 100% certain either. It may very well have more aspects and facets to it than what you or I may be aware of at the moment. So it's important if you tread carefully, although it doesn't quite seem to be anything very risky or bad as such (but still). A simple yet effective way of getting the blocks removed (in addition to meditation) is to simply witness the breath (focus on the inhalation and exhalation instead of controlling or regulating it). Other than that, diet is very important, for food literally makes up the mind. It's best if you have a "sattvic diet" and also follow the "yamas and niyamas" (you may google these terms for more info).
      Mind and body are inter-related. So whatever blocks you maybe experiencing in the body would very well be there in the mind also (and vice versa). So following the necessary "yamas and niyamas", having "sattvic food" in moderate quantities and simply doing the witnessing of the breath, would suffice for now. I understand that you may not yet be able to follow all these things 100%, but try to follow these to whatever extent you can, gradually. Also be mindful of the company you keep and the surroundings that you live in. Everything around you should be conducive and "pure". I hope it makes sense and I wish you all the very best. If there's anything you may wish to clarify, feel free to reply over here :)

    • @allanshpeley4284
      @allanshpeley4284 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@HinduismAsItIs Thank you for your generous response. I will look more into yamas and niyamas and begin practicing to witness the breath during meditation. Regarding the sattvic diet, I've recently changed my diet so that it's mostly in line with that, with the exception of coffee and meat. I'm not sure I'm willing to give up coffee and I don't think my body would handle going without meat. I certainly need to purify my environment, starting with cleaning out all the old junk I have stashed away - thanks for the reminder on that.
      I'm starting to think these aren't leaks, but that there may be parasitic entities that have attached themselves to my pranic body...particularly the heart and solar plexus chakras. Have you heard of this sort of thing? If so, do you have any suggestions for removal/protection?

    • @HinduismAsItIs
      @HinduismAsItIs  ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@allanshpeley4284 Very well. Just try and follow whatever you are comfortable with for now. Progress happens step by step and not all at once. Also, what seems impossible now, can become possible very soon. Anything can happen by Grace. We just need to try and keep taking steps towards our goal, to the best of our ability. Then everything will fall in place. Good luck with your endeavors! :)
      And well, I have heard about such parasitic entities trying to get attached to our subtle bodies, but honestly I don't have a lot of clarity and info about what exactly to do (in terms of yogic practices) in these kinds of situations. That's why it's emphasized to have a spiritual master, especially for the yogic path(s), for he would have known better and shown the way out in such tough situations.
      Nevertheless, what I can suggest to you for now, is to not worry or ponder too much about it. Simply keep your surroundings and environment clean, light a diya, blow a conch shell, put on some incense sticks, play some hymns and chants of God Shiva, God Hanuman, God Krishna etc. on your device, chant/do japa of their names and meditate. Do all this at least twice a day - early morning and in the evening, just after the sunset.
      You can pray to any God form (Shiva, Krishna, Hanuman, Devi Durga etc., whosoever you're more inclined towards), for help/guidance, spiritual upliftment etc. God is the original Guru. If you do all this things (what I mentioned above) with full faith, I'm certain that God will help and resolve your problems, or show you a way out of this or any other problems that you may have or may come across in the future. Nothing is impossible for Him. 😇

      Glad you liked the video. 😇 The Yogic paths, concepts and practices will be difficult to accept through normal mind as the level of rationale and experience people usually have is very limited. Only when we practice and experience such things on our own, will this be truly known. The true yogis, already less in number, stay aloof and immersed in their practices (and prefer not to showcase such things due to various reasons) so all this knowledge is still not heavily tested or scientifically verified properly, that's why it's not taught yet in the school curriculum. Though there have been multiple records and reports here and there in the world, throughout history, that offer and uphold similar claims. However if you're interested, you can check the scientific tests that happened on the Yogi named Swami Rama. Some astonishing discoveries and observations were made during that time.

    Thankyou dear Sir, could you please explain how Kriya Yoga is done please??
    Everybody talks about how important and beneficial Kriya Yoga is, but somehow nobody ever explains how this amazing breath work is done!!
    Is Kriya Yoga suppose to be so mysterious!?? I unfortunately don't have a guru physically to teach me. Please somebody, anybody please tell me how?? Blessings to all! Namaste. I pray someone answers me..

    • @HinduismAsItIs
      @HinduismAsItIs  ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Namaste, dear Dharini! Unfortunately I cannot explain more about the practice here because of various reasons -
      Firstly, I'm not a practitioner of Kriya Yoga. The aim of this video was more to provide awareness and knowledge about Kriya Yoga, its glory and significance.
      Secondly, I do have an idea about the practice but it will be dangerous to share it over here. Any Yoga Technique/Practice must be learned and practiced under the guidance of an authentic/traditional Guru.
      Kriya Yoga, being a type of Pranayama and Kundalini Yogic practice, is very dangerous and risky, if not done right. In the ending part of the video as well, if you saw carefully, Swami Yogananda also says that not everyone can practice it just like that and that it must be practiced under the guidance of a Guru.
      Quoting Paramahansa Yogananda's exact words from the "Autobiography of a Yogi" -
      "Because of certain ancient yogic injunctions, I cannot give a full explanation of Kriya Yoga in the pages of a book intended for the general public. The actual technique must be learned from a Kriyavan or Kriya Yogi; here a broad reference must suffice."
      So you see? Any form of Pranayama, or Kundalini Yoga practice (that has to do with Chakras and Nadis), or Kriya Yoga, etc. must be learned from a qualified teacher. The one who attempts to do it at home, just by reading a book, or watching a TV show, or some online videos, is taking a big risk of harming one's body, mind and pranic system.
      There are many other practices that one can do without the Guru as well. You can start doing Bhakti practices like japa/chanting, doing stutis, or start doing Karma Yoga practices like selfless actions or acting without the sense of doership, or do some meditation on some God-form/sound, or simply practice focusing on breath, or practice Jnana Yoga practices like Neti-Neti and Self enquiry. Hopefully this helps you. 🙏🏻

      @@HinduismAsItIs Thankyou so much for your reply sir!! You have answerd my prayer! Yes indeed Swami Paramhansa Yogananda does explain in his autobiography that sacred Kriya Yoga is passed on from a Guru to his disciple.
      Like Mahavatar Babaji to Lahiri mahasaya and then to Shri Yukteshwar Giri to Swami Paramhansa Yogananda.
      I do understand that its not meant for any regular meditator, but I feel its not fair!
      I feel that when one prays wholeheartedly, the seeker is calling on God, it's a cry to be freed from this samsara.
      Meaning I won't have the chance to workout my karmas in this lifetime! I won't be given a chance to work things out in this lifetime! and therefore I'll have to come back again!?
      I really don't want a rebirth! I don't want to come back to this difficult earth school.
      I want moksha! But I guess God won't answer my prayers.
      I guess God is too busy caring for disciples that have Gurus in the Himalayas.
      I have wondered for years where to find a Guru that can teach me this authentic Kriya Yoga from Mahavatar Babaji?! I can't afford going to the Himalayas.
      Am I the only one with this questions? Isn't any soul out there wanting moksha??
      Sorry, I just feel like a lost soul. I pray/meditate to all the Guru's mentioned above, but still haven't received any clarity, you know what I mean? Dear sir, you need not to answer, because I accept the fact that there are only few chosen souls that receive the teachings of Kriya Yoga just like all the guru's I mentioned above, I guess they are the lucky ones.
      If ever I get the chance, I would ask God why earth school was so unfair. Sorry sir, I feel so disappointed. So sad in knowing that God has forgotten me?
      Maybe I'am just a mistake.. And will remain a wondering soul..
      Namaste dear Sir.

    • @HinduismAsItIs
      @HinduismAsItIs  ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Namaste! 😇 Please note the following points -
      1) I understand where you're coming from. It may not look fair, but trust me it is. It's for our own greater good that there are these restrictions on practicing these things on our own. Otherwise one can seriously damage oneself. Also, you are where you are for a reason. There is a lesson in every kind of experience that we're going through. Learn whatever you can and try to grow in whatever way you can right now, instead of giving up hope altogether.
      2) I already mentioned there are other practices you can perform on your own, that are equally potent to make one rise beyond samsara. I mentioned practices of Bhakti Yoga, Gyana Yoga, Karma Yoga, Meditation/Mindfulness etc. Kriya/Kundalini/Raja Yoga aren't the only practices in the world and it's not like if one doesn't get to practice them, then one's life is wasted. There are numerous other practices and paths to Moksha. So it's not at all like you are stuck and you don't have any other option/practice left.
      3) God answers everyone's prayers (especially if they're genuine and whole-hearted). It's just that the majority of times we ourselves turn a blind eye to His response or ignore His answers due to one or the other reason. Or we expect His reply to be in a particular way only, while He may reply in a different way. So we have to be mindful, open and very receptive from our side. He is not partial at all. It's our inability and lack of openness that makes us think that way about God. In fact it is by His will/grace only, that we can even remember Him.
      4) Going to the Himalayas isn't the only way to God or Moksha. You can very well be where you are and practice sadhana (like Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, Gyana Yoga and Meditation etc.) from your own place. Nothing and nobody is stopping you from doing that. As already mentioned before, restrictions are mainly on practices like Pranayama, Raja Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Kriya Yoga, (and also on chanting beeja mantras/tantra sadhanas) that directly involve working with cosmic energy, prana, kundalini, chakras and nadis because there is a big risk involved, if done without proper guidance (of a personal Guru).
      5) There are many souls seeking Moksha and a lot of them are also practicing. You should also start doing that. As already mentioned Kriya Yoga isn't the only practice, you can start doing so many other practices on your own also. But if you want to do Kriya Yoga only (and not so many other practices that don't require a Guru right away), then that's your choice only and not God's fault. Then you may also have to wait till the Guru comes and be patient. Have faith in God, keep praying and simultaneously do your best in growing spiritually and becoming ready for the practice.
      6) There are no chosen ones. It's all up to us. Even if you say there are, then that also depends on their past karmas. Nobody gets any undeserved privileges in their spiritual journey. Guru comes to the one when one is ready. Guidance comes when one is ready and mature enough. It's all a matter of being capable. You can start working and developing these qualities mentioned in this video - th-cam.com/video/YsIPZ_PW-iE/w-d-xo.html - and you'll certainly see great benefits and spiritual progress. These qualities are helpful in any path and every spiritual seeker should develop these, as much as possible, in order to grow faster.
      7) Lastly, God hasn't forgotten you. If He had, you wouldn't be alive, or you wouldn't be here on this channel discussing all this with me. It's all His Grace. Our minds are so occupied with what we don't have, that we forget what all we have got by God's grace. This is not right and this outlook doesn't suit a spiritual sadhaka. God is already doing His work and guiding you, even though you may not feel it. Just reflect on what all I have mentioned once again and go through the video link posted in the above point and start doing what resonates the most with you. The choice is entirely yours. Remember you're not stuck and have an ample number of chances even at this moment to grow spiritually and rise beyond samsara.
      Hope this helps! 🙏🏻

    • @HinduismAsItIs

      Mhm, you may say so. Swami Yogananda got instructed to spread the teachings of Kriya to the west especially, because the west has lost the touch of the real essence and aim of Christianity. That's what Yogananda mentioned in His own words. But yes, it's not just for the west, but for the whole world. That's what the Kriya Gurus have said. Whosoever has faith and is keen, interested, fit and ready to walk this path, will be accepted and guided :)
