    Al, just wanted to say that you're a star and a lifesaver all rolled into one. I'm sure I speak for the majority on here in saying that your videos have got us all out of a few sticky situations. The least I can do is say thank you, much appreciated and keep up the good work. I watch all your videos regardless if I have that problem or not. All very informative. Thank you.

    This is perfect. Great guide. My current home has a gooseneck style mixer tap on my kitchen sink and I've never replaced a washer (or cartridge) on these types of taps before, thus I didn't know where the washer was located. I didn't even know in these types of taps they're called "cartridge". Your video has given me a good guide on where to start. Thanks for making this video.

    Thank you ! i stared at our little water filter tap for days trying to figure this out. It didnt have the little grub cover it was sealed there, but i finally figured out that you unscrew the little stick handle and hidden behind it is the allen key grub screw which dis-assembled the whole thing like you then show. You got me started with this vid thanks again! legend!

    Thank you from San Francisco! The lever on our kitchen sink faucet gradually became super stiff to the point that I was considering extending the lever, ha. Then I found your video so I opened it up and removed the cartridge and put it back in and now somehow without me having done much the faucet works perfectly again. I don't know exactly why but I'll take it! And thanks again!
    And for anyone else coming this way, the allen screw wasn't visible for me, it was pointed straight down. I just tried different allen keys until I found the right one by feel. It was either the 2mm or 2.5mm allen key that did it.

    I was going to change the cartridge on my Mirabelle Ravenel, with cartridge MIR507348N because of dripping. There is not much clearance with the sort-of ball joint and handle that rotates on it, so crud like limescale and food crud can build-up in that area, preventing complete closure of the handle. I doused the area with glass cleaner and wiped 4-5 times, and the handle was able to close more tightly and that eliminated the dripping. This is an excellent video if in fact the cartridge needs changing.

      Of all the tap designs, those are the ones that I hate the most. The retaining ring hex can be so thin that when they seize up, they are really easy to crack or round off. I'd always advise to get twin head mono mixers.

    I used 2mm allen/hex key from a set in bunnings. But I should've bought the cartridge repair kit, it comes with an allen key, also used a 30mm adjustable wrench to repair a kitchen mixer tap (I think the nut measured 28mm).
    Remember bois/gals, you must screw on the nut super tight, have a stream of cold water running to test as you tighten.

    Hell. nice video. Thank you. Is this the Jeroni Swan tap by Pegler? Looks very similar. Our's is and it is dripping from half way down where the neck screws into the mount. It was a push fit and wasn't right from the minute the plumber fitted it. If I could I would take out the Blanco sink that comes with a pre-drilled 35mm hole and put in plain pillar separate taps. noithing wrong with the sink but there is not enough room to drill holes in it.

    Thanks for this walk through, i have a, 'methven echo gooseneck' [about 2 years old] that looks similar to this but has no visible screws/caps like the one your showing us, it's a sealed unit... hence any ideas as to how i replace the cartridge on one of these models? thanks again :)

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some are sealed with no way of getting the things off. Do try just pulling at it. It could be a simple pull off one.

    • @Dickgoodbody
      @Dickgoodbody 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dereton33 thanks, although i found a slot at the back of the main tower, where the gooseneck comes out of that appears to have an allen screw, maybe the cartridge is in the main shaft on these newer sealed types?

    • @Dickgoodbody
      @Dickgoodbody 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dereton33 UPDATE: the newer sealed ones are accessible through the tap leaver... just unscrew the handle [leaver], which exposes a center post [threaded external/internal] which you insert an allen key into.. and then you can unscrew the outer cover plate [but be careful, it's plastic] which exposes the inner nut.. then your in. One thing though, when you remove the cartridge, the rubber seal doesnt come out with it, it stays housed internally.. so do the new cartridges come with the rubber seal, hence i can remove the internal seal with a pair of long nose pliers... or?

    I have a two spout, two handled three way mixer tap (hot cold & filtered cold) (filtered cold comes out small spout, hot & cold flows through large mixer spout)
    when I turn on any of the taps a small stream of water comes out the opposing spout.
    Would replacing the cartridge fix this?
