Great video! Any reason to use alcohol for cleaning? I would think alcohol is more a degreaser and here scaling is often the issue I would assume, so I would use a (diluted) vinegar solution (of course rinse well to prevent corrosion on the long term due to use of acid).
Aha. So that's why cold water tap dont work in my bath? Had problem with shower valve so soaked regularly in white vinegar... Freed valve, froze ( less regularly used) cold water tap
That could be done in less than 30 minutes if you know where the parts should go. Dismantle in 5, clean, put back together and reinstall. Just have someone turn the stop tap on while you stand by the tap, just in case.

Very true, I would take photos too. But I also think that if you carefully examine the mixer during disassembly and understand how it works, there won't be any problem with putting it back together correctly later :)
Great instruction that helps saving money for the plumber and a new tab! I would suggest cleaning the whole thing with a misture of vinegar (essence) and washing soap instead of just soap ;-)

I would replace the cartridge as well. But it was good to see the old-school way of cleaning the cartridge and what it looks like from the inside and how one would clean it if you choose to do that.
Nice video, not all mixer taps are the same as the one you have worked on. Mine doesn’t have that removable red button rather , has a lever that screws into the main body and is now impossible to remove for the purpose of maintenance required in your video. I have tried injecting things like Calgon, & wd40, but still won’t budge ! What else could I try without calling out a plumber ?
People today are lazy and will either buy a new cartridge or complete tap. We live in a disposable society where products are meant to fail right after the warranty period then we fill up land fills with junk.
The reality is John that its probably cheaper to replace the cartridge than to pay a tradesman to clean it up and reinstall it with a 50% chance it will fix the problem

All these small things like things that creak, squeak, scrape or don't move well make a big difference in the quality feel of a home - and it is too often overlooked, or people are scared to try fixing it. Many of these things can work like new again with just disassembly, cleaning and correct lubrication. And if you are scared that you won't know how to put it together again - just take a bunch of pictures while disassembling. That way you can do it in reverse if you get stuck somewhere.

Most issues are caused by hard water, so vinegar would be better than alcohol (which does little to clean anything other than grease).
White vinegar is one click stronger.
Or use citric acid

Great video! Any reason to use alcohol for cleaning? I would think alcohol is more a degreaser and here scaling is often the issue I would assume, so I would use a (diluted) vinegar solution (of course rinse well to prevent corrosion on the long term due to use of acid).

That could be done in less than 30 minutes if you know where the parts should go. Dismantle in 5, clean, put back together and reinstall. Just have someone turn the stop tap on while you stand by the tap, just in case.

Great instruction that helps saving money for the plumber and a new tab! I would suggest cleaning the whole thing with a misture of vinegar (essence) and washing soap instead of just soap ;-)

Mine doesn’t have that removable red button rather , has a lever that screws into the main body and is now impossible to remove for the purpose of maintenance required in your video. I have tried injecting things like Calgon, & wd40, but still won’t budge !

Many of these things can work like new again with just disassembly, cleaning and correct lubrication. And if you are scared that you won't know how to put it together again - just take a bunch of pictures while disassembling. That way you can do it in reverse if you get stuck somewhere.

Es ist ein Zufall, wenn diese Kartusche dann wieder dicht ist. Normalerweise diesen Plastikeinsatz ersetzen. Den gibt es für ein paar € im Baumarkt.
Das dachte ich auch... Und ich lass es besser von jemandem mit technischem Verständnis machen, weil ich mit Sicherheit die Teile nicht richtig zusammensetzen würde😅 Ein verkalktes Sieb kann ich auswechseln; das war's dann auch schon...🎉

Anche se la mia cartuccia non è uguale a quella nel video, ci sono riuscito lo stesso e, con l'olio di silicone, adesso è meglio di quand'era nuova. Alla faccia dei grandi marchi...
