I have taken up rowing again at the age of 47 after lower back surgery and bilateral hip replacements- all within 6 months of each other.... And less than a year ago. You’re shooting your legs on the drive. Knees are straightening too soon. Brace your core on the drive, put all the weight in your legs, then swing once you’ve used all your legs.
Robots are able to do almost anything we can do better than us. If they row like that then I will as well. Screw your “comfort”, you’re just a quitter which is why it doesn’t feel fluid
