    Very good video. I bought a 21 with a magnaflow already on it. Way to loud. I researched a replacement, considered trd or oem but went with borla, price, ss and reputation. Much relief from constant drone.

      Yeah I was in the same boat. Got real sick of the MBRPs droning. Sounded mean at idle but it was an ear sore actually driving around

    Most companies use 400 series stainless steel which is not as good as series 300 stainless steel. Borla uses 300 series stainless steel, that is one reason why Borla costs so much, people just see the word stainless steel and they think that is all there is to it but there is a huge difference between 400 series stainless steel and 300 series stainless steel. Sadly many companies using inferior 400 series stainless steel are charging prices equivalent to 300 series stainless steel because they know the majority of people do not know the difference between them.
    Your Borla should hold up much better due to the better quality 300 series stainless steel used.

      You nailed it, that's exactly why I went with Borla over some others that offer "stainless steel".

    Did you feel that the borla restored low end torque? Ive had mbrp dual exit exhaust for a few months and took a major hit in the low end for unnecessary gain in high end like you said. Am torn between trd or borla. Would you say you have that low end torque back with this exhaust?

      I do feel like it restored that low end power and is smoother through the middle than a stock exhaust. Isn't the TRD exhaust the same as stock but with a welded tip at the end? Never looked into it too hard tbh. I also like the fact that the borla is stainless steel and won't rust

      @@MikesGearGarage I am not sure i know it isn’t a major improvement except going from 2.25 inch diameter in the stock to 2.5 inches trd exhaust. I know the borla is supposed to be very similar design and sound to trd but slightly louder and better air flow. You helped sell me on the borla I wanted a louder aftermarket sound while still maintaining low end torque. Borla it is

    White smoke. You got some coolant mixing in with your fuel burn? Or was that like a protective coating burning off the inside of the borla exhaust as it heated up?

      Probably some residue from production. It was also super cold out so could be condensation from inside

    How is the borla now after few miles?

    • @MikesGearGarage

      Still loving it. It has a nice deep note when you step on it and virtually quiet when cruising. Huge improvement over the mbrp and a nicer tone/response than stock

    What tires are those ?

    • @MikesGearGarage
      @MikesGearGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're general grabbers atxs in 285/75r16. I just switched to Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLTs in the same size actually and love them. They're way quiter and better on gas since the truck is my daily. Also great on sandy trails and such which is better for me since 99% of my offroading is beach driving or fire trails

    • @MikesGearGarage
      @MikesGearGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope. Just looked it up it appears identical to the mbrp that I just took off. Also according to those who run it (found a whole TW thread) the thing drones too. For me it was either Borla or Flowmaster and Borla won out

      @@MikesGearGarage yeah I had one on my Silverado sounded good so I looked into the videos on the Tacoma. What exactly is drone? I would hear some very loud “vibrations” if the back windows on the interstate were down almost to the point it gave you a headache. Hard to explain what I mean

    • @MikesGearGarage
      @MikesGearGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AFGixxeR88 yep that's exactly what drone is. And on a smaller truck like the tacoma which has next to no sound deadening built in from the factory you're REALLY going to hear it
