Hey Jason! I know I'm a year late to the party, but I'm having a great time watching you build up your Jeep. It's especially refreshing to watch automotive videos with no profanity!
Great video!! Can you show us how to repair a botched drill hole? Patch/fill, sand, and paint. I'm still catching up on your videos on the other projects, so maybe I'll find my answer there. But basically I installed a small mod on the inside of my tailgate several years ago. Had no idea what I was doing and messed up the drilling. I painted the holes to protect from rust, but I'd really like to repair it without taking it in. They're very narrow holes so I imagine it'll be simple. I'd really like to see you do this because, so far, your instructionals have been amazing!
Love the low CG look of this thing. The flares look just right. The current configuration looks pretty good too. I just ordered the metalcloak front bumper based on your other video, I really like their design philosophy. Form follows function.
you prolly dont give a shit but if you guys are bored like me atm you can stream all of the latest series on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my brother lately :)
Those fenders look great. I would love to see a rear bumper/tire carrier go on next! You have a very natural and relaxed presence in your videos; keep up the great work!
I too really enjoy your videos! As an owner of a 2012 JK with 4.56R&P, 35s and a 2.5" lift ... I'm furious!! With little modification I could be running 35's without a lift! So many more things to worry about with the steering and suspension geometry.. I would lift your beaut as little as possible if you can. Looks absolutely awesome!
I know your Jeep looks great now, but so many were saying lift it a while ago and rightfully so. But the one Jeep here on YT that desperately needs a lift is Kyle SVT. That TJ is so cool sitting on 35's with Metal Cloak fenders like yours. His 35's are shoehorned in under that stock suspension / wheel wells. I cringe each time I see that TJ. Enough of that, I just wanted to say, I am not a fan of JKU's and would never even consider it despite the insistence from my wife to get one with our two sons. But your JKU is very cool and extremely well done. Keep up the great work!
Definitely want to consider upgrading skid protection! Our factory Rubicon parts are ok but after a few incidents, upgraded with Rock Hard full skid protection and haven't had any problems! Might be a good next weekend project. Keep up the good work!
+William Harber more reputable and dual rate springs better for heavy loads like his bumper and winch so it won't sag in the front and the dual rate springs make it perform a lot better on road
Crawler Conceptz carries a great series of bumpers plus tire carriers. Would make for a good next step. On board air and some lights wouldn't be a bad option as well.
The jeep looks so mean with that front bumper and fenders! I think the rear bumper would be a good next option to kind of complete the look. Awesome videos man keep'em coming!
Found you just "searching" and I've been watching the Videos for a while. Would like to congratulate you on this build. Its diferent when we do it ourselfs at home!! Great tire choice and winch. Dont really like the fenders and the armor but that is yours to choose. Also would recomend using a diferent front bumper. A "shorter" one mainly because of the edges and the aesthetic. Poison Spider maybe... I've got ARB front and rear but with that kind of fender its just not a pretty choice. Think about the Roll-bar strenghtning. Keep up the great work!!! PS. Also get a ARB Fridge Freezer when you can. Comes in handy!! heheh
Really enjoying seeing the evolution. Given the path you are on, I would like to see the next step be Metalcloak 6paks and extended brake lines (and bumpstops if needed) to get some droop. I think it would be interesting to see the performance of a long travel shock with the massive tires and the LCOG thing you have going now without the lift. I imagine the limiting factor then will be the stock control arm bushings, which can be fixed with new arms later on.
Great video to augment the Metalcloak instructions. One strong suggestion: you will need to install many threaded inserts, possibly many more depending on your vehicle configuration. The supplied “tool” is pretty sketchy and prone to causing errors that are difficult to fix. If you use manual strength to install as shown, you will wind up pretty sore. If you use power tools, the inserts will strip. Save all that hassle and use a proper insert tool like this one from Amazon - Astro Pneumatic Tool 1442 13" Hand Rivet Nut Setter Kit, that’s about $50. You’ll also need a properly sized mandrel for the 3/8” threaded inserts, also available from Amazon for $15. There are others that are cheaper, but regardless of which one you use, the inserts will be properly seated without stripping. The tool will pay for itself. Also, a step drill is far superior to standard drill bits for drilling through the sheet metal without binding or tearing and leaves a much smoother finished hole without a burr. It’s much faster too. After center punching, I drilled a 1/8” pilot with a standard bit and then went to the step drill for the 3/8 holes and 1/2” for the threaded inserts. I then chased the 3/8” holes with a standard 3/8” bit for bolt clearance and for the insert holes, finished them with the 17/32” bit that Metalcloak offers. After trying the bit sequence for gradual size increase with standard bits and still having the bit bind and tear the sheet metal, I tried the step drill combination described and didn’t look back. The install of all 4 fenders and rails required more than 50 holes to be drilled and the step drill method was the fast and left a perfect hole that didn’t require additional deburring.
So I've must have missed it in other episodes if you have mentioned it before but I assume you must work for motor trend? As you have dirt everyday shirt on and have the general mayhem sticker on your back window from Roadkill. Cool Jeep though, I went with the Krawler Konceptz metal fenders on mine, however I wish the new ones from JCR would have been out as they would have matched up better with my RSE power slider steps
Looking beautiful man! Love the production quality as well. Hoping my Wrangler will look like yours one day. As for the next video a rear bumper would be good or possibly the terraflex tire carrier. Maybe even a fastback top, they make the 4 doors look so much better.
Great job Jason. Your Jeep looks Bad Ass with those fender flares! Now I want a Jeep! lol. I'm looking forward to your next off road video because the first one you did was so nice. Also, I watched Dirt Everyday's latest TH-cam video yesterday, The Range Rover/Ranger combo, and I saw a couple shots of you. Very Cool! ttyl bro. -Drew
Howdy Drew! Yeah the RangeRover episode was interesting...I'm hoping to get out into the hills again with the Jeep again soon. Hope you are doing well!
I have to say at the beginning I was like "what is he doing drilling all those holes... he'll regret it!! then I saw it half way done and was like... "WOW That looks great!!" and adds a lot of strength too!
These fenders look awesome. I just worry that water will get trapped in between the vehicle and the armor. Any thoughts? Maybe some type of gasket could be made.... Idk, I'm paranoid.
Great to see these vids. Nice work with the jeep, film, and editing. Not common to see a person that's good with tools and computers/cameras hahah. Waiting for the next vid already and hope to see a small lift and maybe more lights!? Wheel lights and maybe a light bar idk it's your jeep!
Thank you! OH MAN do I want to add boost to this thing but that is big $$$'s and I feel like getting the trail worthiness dialed in first is the somewhat "responsible" thing... but I did dork out and put 37's on first so who knows!
That's what the internet helps with! Get some basic tools and tackle a little thing. Just be open to learning and realize it's not all easy or fun but the process will help you in so many other ways!
+autoedit Thanks. Well.. I did remove my doors and take off my sunrider last weekend. Lol. So I'll get there eventually. Also going to Ocean City's Jeep Week and a few other events for some ideas on what I want to do. Thanks for the reply.
The armor plate looks really awesome with the bolts around the edge it like that. I'd want door plates with the same look, and maybe even plates around the front fenders. It's probably not worth it just for the looks though. Realistically, I think performance upgrades would be interesting to see, or if that's not in the plan, the lift.
next mod is to spray those front inners black, the brushed aluminum kinda makes it look like you patched some rust holes already and never bothered to paint it
Your videos are awesome!! keep it up. If you are thinking of a 3 inch lift or more, take a look at PowerStep Running Boards, they can act as rocker guard and make it easy getting into the jeep.
Cool build! I think not lifting right away is a great idea! Want to keep the centre of gravity low. If I had a jk, I would build it similar to yours. Probably just lower budget! Do you have front and rear lockers?
awesome vids man. making everything look easy, def giving me confidence on my jeep build. keep up the good work. def would like to see maybe the tire carrier install next!
I think I heard u say u r still on stock suspension get a 3-4 inch rancho kit with the 5000x or 9000xl shocks!! I just did the 2 inch kit in my back yard and couldn't be happier! Good luck can't wait for the next video
+autoedit whatever you decide next good luck can't wait for the video! But I'm very happy with my rancho lift took me a good few weeks to decide on what lift to use. Install was easy to do.
the jeep looks real tuff you are doing a great job fixing it up I think you should add what you think is right or what you like cause it looks like you know what looks good.also I have to ask about large marge hope to see you working on it soon. love that projecct!
I vote spare tire carrier/rear bumper, I've preferred the look of no lift 37s anyways, but when the time comes for the lift just keep it as low as possible while still having clearance.
Love your videos and the detail you go into making them thanks for it and the next thing should be the lift to make it stand out even more and it will look bad ass as well keep it up Jason
Pretty cool! I really like this mod! Just wondering, are there any fenders that might be wider so as to cover the whole width of the tires? Kinda curious as to how that would look...
How long did you work on planes? Seems like you have a lot of the same habits I do from doing aircraft maintenance for so long. I really like your videos they are done really well.
Lets see how far a simple and cheap Leveling kit (2in front, 1in rear) will get you!. Im running 35s on a leveling kit and the skinny smittybilt fenders, zero clearance issues when flexed and disconnected. I was wondering if I should have went with 37s instead!
Your channel is awesome (maybe because we have the exact same Jeep 😉) but you’re really giving me some great ideas, keep up the great work. Can’t wait to see it when you lifted it
I think a lift should be next! I also think the look of the large tires with no lift is amazing, so I vote for the lowest lift you can to comfortably avoid tire rub when off-road. Don't do something too tall!
Loved this series, not a fan of that big rear plate. I think I would have it painted or have it gloss powdercoated in factory color. Also afraid of all the water and dirt that will get behind it.
That's okay,.some guys love that look...but for me,.? the factory fender looks great,.but is plastic,.now if you make it out of metal or aluminum,..better yet, stainless steel,...you'll have a winner,...the sturdy part, is a must,..good job over all...Thank you,..Auto.
I love your videos. I suppose if someone didn't gave a black jeep, they could paint the back plate the body color to match. That's the only thing I didn't like with the back fenders. It looks perfect on you black jeep.
Great videos. Yes, at some point a slight lift is necessary to obtain the full use (range of motion) with using your 37" tires and future suspension that I know you will want to get. Keep it up and so you know, your Jeep will start talking to you in your sleep... buy more...., more...., more.... and honestly it will never stop. haha ;-)
Not these exact fenders, as the JK body needs the steel panel for strength. Metalcloak does sell an aluminum set that look similar that are just the fenders. They also have a traditional set of steel tube fenders that are nice.
Hey Jason! I know I'm a year late to the party, but I'm having a great time watching you build up your Jeep. It's especially refreshing to watch automotive videos with no profanity!
Thanks, I'm really glad you appreciate that! Welcome to the channel... hope to keep you around for a while more!

Awesome to hear! You'll be happy... years later I'm still thrilled with my MetalCloak bumper/fenders/skid plates and everything!
I'm diggin' the JK w/out a lift.
Thanks, me too
you prolly dont give a shit but if you guys are bored like me atm you can stream all of the latest series on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my brother lately :)
@Gerald Victor yup, I have been watching on instaflixxer for since december myself :D
Those fenders look great. I would love to see a rear bumper/tire carrier go on next! You have a very natural and relaxed presence in your videos; keep up the great work!
Ok, Thanks so much!
Your JK is looking really good. You've given me some ideas for modifying my CJ. Instead of doing a full restoration, I think I'll add armor.
I really appreciate hearing that!
Looks tough, just needs those front inner panels painted black to match the jeep.
i just want to say that I love your videos! keep it up!
That is much appreciated! I'll try!!!
Nice ride! I just bought a 16 wrangler sport. Can't wait to start modifying it.
Picking up some wheels and tires soon!
You make the best instructional videos I've found on youtube and the quality of filming is great which helps make them that much better.
Awesome to hear, thanks!
I too really enjoy your videos! As an owner of a 2012 JK with 4.56R&P, 35s and a 2.5" lift ... I'm furious!! With little modification I could be running 35's without a lift! That's the cleanest rubicon I've ever seen!
What, this old thing? LOL Thanks!
LED Light bar install would be amazing.
Definitely want to consider upgrading skid protection! Our factory Rubicon parts are ok but after a few incidents, upgraded with Rock Hard full skid protection and haven't had any problems! Might be a good next weekend project. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the suggestion! I agree, as I get more adventurous with the rig it will become more important.
Those oversized tires on the rubicon rims actually look pretty awesome
Next step - 3.5" - 4.5" Rubicon Express Extreme-Duty Long Arm system
lol not rubicon express rock krawler 3.5 inch long arm
Why the Rock Krawler?
+William Harber more reputable and dual rate springs better for heavy loads like his bumper and winch so it won't sag in the front and the dual rate springs make it perform a lot better on road
I have been thinking of going with some metalcloak fenders . Just not sure if I want overline fenders or the overland ones. Tough choice .
I honestly think the Overland look a bit nicer but I've been thrilled with the fenders I have... definitely the right call for what I do.
I don't even own a JK (LJ here) and I am loving these vids. Oh and I hope you never get a lift. The LCG is the way to go.
LOL, thanks!
Love to see some gun scabbards that are removable mounted outside. with a matching trailer that has a gin pole for loading game and carrying stuff.
I really liked your install video. I would of added de-burring your drilled holes with a file before using the touch up paint. I love LCOG Jeeps!
Crawler Conceptz carries a great series of bumpers plus tire carriers. Would make for a good next step. On board air and some lights wouldn't be a bad option as well.
Cool thanks for the tips!
id recommend the old man emu 4" lift for your setup, easy kit to install and great performance
Noted, thanks dude!
You do such an excellent job running through the installs. Excited to see the next move!
The jeep looks so mean with that front bumper and fenders! I think the rear bumper would be a good next option to kind of complete the look. Awesome videos man keep'em coming!
Thanks dude! Yup that is the plan now.
autoedit awesome cant wait to see it!
Great install vid! Hope to see you go with the Metalcloak long arm kit!!
Hmmmmmm!
thanks for these videos. im planning a rubicon purchase in august and its your doing alot of things i was planning.
Great to hear!

No need for a lift now!! Looking awesome!! Maybe some more aggressive offset steelies to widen your stance a bit!
Great Video! Really enjoying the jeep build videos! Love the look of the 37s and no lift!
Thanks! Yeah me too, I can't wait to see how it performs next time out in the mountains.
Won't mud and dirt get between that plate and the fender and rust out?
I hope not?
For future reference, use black RTV a half inch from the mounting seam, all seams, problem solved.
"Put this tape on the body so we don't scratch it" ... and then drill a bunch of holes in it. :) - Like the videos. Keep up the good work!
Great videos, really high quality stuff here. I think another wheelin' video would be fun! Thanks for keeping us entertained.
So I've must have missed it in other episodes if you have mentioned it before but I assume you must work for motor trend? Howdy Drew! Yeah the RangeRover episode was interesting...I'm hoping to get out into the hills again with the Jeep again soon. Hope you are doing well!
LED light bar and spot lights then paint inner fender liner when you do the lift.
Will do, thanks!
Very nice upgrade. Great looking product and install
I have to say at the beginning I was like "what is he doing drilling all those holes... he'll regret it!! then I saw it half way done and was like... "WOW That looks great!!" and adds a lot of strength too!
LOL, yeah I had a few moments thinking that as well and then just went "all in"!
Great channel and install videos. The AEV rear bumper with tire carrier would be my pick for the back end. Then start saving for a RIPP supercharger 😬
Thank you! OH MAN do I want to add boost to this thing but that is big $$$'s and I feel like getting the trail worthiness dialed in first is the somewhat "responsible" thing... but I did dork out and put 37's on first so who knows!
I bought a 2016 black Black Bear Wrangler. I wish I knew how to do awesome stuff like this lol.
That's what the internet helps with! Get some basic tools and tackle a little thing. Just be open to learning and realize it's not all easy or fun but the process will help you in so many other ways!

Was thinking the same thing
Looks amazing, great job! Im looking forward to the rear bumper and tire carrier install 👍🏼
Haha...ok that's next!
Your video editing skills are on point! Great handy work too...really like your channel!
Looking good! Curious to see what lift you're gonna throw on there.
I'm trying to figure that out! Thanks!
They look great! Wish i could afford metal cloak fenders for my jeep
next i would like to see integrated rear bumper with tire carrier.
Ok, on it!
Your videos are awesome!! keep it up.
If you are thinking of a 3 inch lift or more, take a look at PowerStep Running Boards, they can act as rocker guard and make it easy getting into the jeep.
I will, thanks so much!
Love your videos man gets me jonesen to get a jeep, Benn wanting for about 6 yrs to hit the north state
Get that Jeep! Thanks so much for watching!
Cool build! I think not lifting right away is a great idea! Want to keep the centre of gravity low. If I had a jk, I would build it similar to yours. Probably just lower budget! Do you have front and rear lockers?
Loving this series! When will the next video be out?
I hope you've been busy, looking forwards to the next episode!!
well that answered my question...how does metalcloaks look with full width bumpers! good video, thanks for making it!
What type of palm / hand ratchet are you using here? Great videos by the way
awesome vids man. making everything look easy, def giving me confidence on my jeep build. keep up the good work. def would like to see maybe the tire carrier install next!
Looking good for that, thanks
I was gunna suggest bump stop extenders and them some off roading to see how that helps the rubbing.
That sounds like a great plan and I'm on that!
Love watching the progression of your Jeep! Keep up the great videos
Thanks a bunch! I appreciate you letting me know.
I think I heard u say u r still on stock suspension get a 3-4 inch rancho kit with the 5000x or 9000xl shocks!! I just did the 2 inch kit in my back yard and couldn't be happier! Good luck can't wait for the next video
Also could use windshield lights or light bar I love the kc lights I have
Thanks, yup still stock...I haven't even thought about a rancho lift. I think I used them years ago on something, cool.
I'm jumping back on Ol' Large Marge this weekend so thanks!
looking good. What about a light bar and brights out the back?
I definitely want lights but have to wait till I get the thing more trail ready!
Love the videos and yr jeep! How hard is it to keep up the black paint?
Definitely rear bar and tyre carrier. Maybe some room on the back for jerry's and a high lift jack.
nice upgrades...for cosmetic look, also add tail lamp guards and fuel filler door...little things, easier to install, but it helps the look too..:-)
Lift kit, leveling kit, or a tire carrier for those 37's 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I vote spare tire carrier/rear bumper, I've preferred the look of no lift 37s anyways, but when the time comes for the lift just keep it as low as possible while still having clearance.
Next I would say rear bumper and tire carrier, but questions as well. What size flare is that? And are the tires 12.5" wide?
Love your videos and the detail you go into making them thanks for it and the next thing should be the lift to make it stand out even more and it will look bad ass as well keep it up Jason
Thanks so much!
Have u thought about adding a snorkel
Love those fenders, makes the stock ones look pathetic. What size lift are you planning?
are you ever gonna install a lift kit or leave it?
It's a work in progress so hang in there!
Lets see how far a simple and cheap Leveling kit (2in front, 1in rear) will get you!. Im running 35s on a leveling kit and the skinny smittybilt fenders, zero clearance issues when flexed and disconnected. I was wondering if I should have went with 37s instead!
Hmm. good advice I'm thinking of that now.
I would you to see you add the mini LED turn signals to these, you removed them you never told us what happened to them? +autoedit
I just took the side markers off...forgot to order the LED's. Do I need those?
Your channel is awesome (maybe because we have the exact same Jeep 😉) but you’re really giving me some great ideas, keep up the great work. Can’t wait to see it when you lifted it
Awesome! Thank you!
rear bumper and lighting possibly?
Mean looking rig. Excellent.
Howdy dude! Thanks...hope to get down for a visit again soon.
Any concern about moisture getting in between the plates?
Not really. I made sure to paint any exposed metal and committed to the armor.
Wow man you videos are so relaxing and also talks about nuce stuffs so keep make videos about your jeep!!
So awesome to hear, thanks!
autoedit particulary nice to see manual car in your country
spray bed liner in ur wheel wells to add more protection under the jeep
Man that looks great! Rear bumper for sure!!!
Thanks, ON IT!
Put some lights on it! Maybe an angled top. I'm living vicariously through you so don't let me down!
OK...LOL!
+autoedit Loving the videos. Fenders are badass. Keep it up!
I like the NO fender flare look the best LOL
I think a lift should be next! I also think the look of the large tires with no lift is amazing, so I vote for the lowest lift you can to comfortably avoid tire rub when off-road. Don't do something too tall!
OK, that's the plan
I can't wait for this video. I keep checking youtube every day for your newest one! I. Need. A. Jeep.
Loved this series, not a fan of that big rear plate. I think I would have it painted or have it gloss powdercoated in factory color. Also afraid of all the water and dirt that will get behind it.
are your rear fenders standard or wide?
Love your quality videos
You should put a roof rack on yours I have the body armor 4x4 roof rack and basket on mine
I can't see much from your profile pic but it looks pretty tough
That's okay,.some guys love that look...but for me,.? the factory fender looks great,.but is plastic,.now if you make it out of metal or aluminum,..better yet, stainless steel,...you'll have a winner,...the sturdy part, is a must,..good job over all...Thank you,..Auto.
hey bro great video. what are the part numbers or exact name of the parts you got?
Click the link in the description...it's the OVERLINE kit.
Keep it up and so you know, your Jeep will start talking to you in your sleep... buy more...., more...., more.... and honestly it will never stop. haha ;-)
with the addition u did what is the weight they hold if u needed to stand or put weight on them?
I can stand or sit on any of the fenders, they are super strong.
I liked the video within a second. Already know the content will be superior!
Oh and go with a badass long arm kit and coilovers, bumps, and limit straps for a lift haha.
Well, YOU ROCK! Thanks so much for the support and taking a moment to say a good word!
Honestly, I just watched a video from terraflex about a prerunner kit for the jeep and went crazy... seems very awesome but it's very expensive.
Great video! Does metal cloak sell these rear fenders without the armor panel so you can get just the fenders?
Not these exact fenders, as the JK body needs the steel panel for strength. Metalcloak does sell an aluminum set that look similar that are just the fenders. They also have a traditional set of steel tube fenders that are nice.
