9:00 - I really love that one, it was very creative thanks to the dehacked enemies. It isn't balanced difficulty wise, but there are ways to cheat now of days. I actually like the next one also, it had a unique atmosphere to it.
@@johnsmith-w7x3t I'll probably do this for scripted videos like this, but most of my normal videos are a bit too long (and I have them scheduled to release while I'm at work). 😵💫
I didn't have any issues on my end (using 4.13.2). It does seem to be a bit particular about how you load it, though. Dragging and dropping *should* work fine on Windows. If you normally run GZDoom from the command prompt, something like this should also work: ./gzdoom -deh DAKILLS.DEH -file DAKILLS.WAD SPRITE.WAD Note that many of the custom sprites don't work correctly because they were done in such a way that's largely incompatible with modern tools. It's still playable despite this.
I think modern modding capabilities ruined my enjoyment.. when I was a kid, that limited DeHacked trickery stuff you could do would give you so much imagination to push it as far as it can go.. And now that limit has been taken off on source ports and it just took that excitement away. I am glad there is still huge vanilla communities who still use the original game, even things like Legacy of Rust. Having all these flashy features is great, but overwhelming.
I guess it depends on what you mean when you say "vanilla." Legacy of Rust actually uses MBF21, which follows the Boom/MBF lineage. It's quite a bit more advanced than classic Doom, but it's miles away from modern standards like ZDoom and the Eternity Engine. One of the things I like about stuff like MBF21 is that you can use it fairly conservatively to get some nice effects (sort of like what LoR does). I tried doing some ZDoom mapping a few times but ended up getting lost in the sauce due to its extensive feature set.
Nothing kills a man's will like a Midwestern Winter. Thanks, Spectere. Happy new year.
Only a few months of winter to go. x)

Nearly all of these levels are also available on Maximum Doom, so I approve.

One good thing about DAKILLS is an STBAR - that rocks :D
True! That was pretty rare in 1995 :P
I've got some new wads to play.
DAKILLS's .DEH file doesn't work properly on my GZDoom, is there a way to fix that?
