    Elemental SnS with the new drill slash is super fun and satisfying to use. Sharpness depletes too quick but I can live with that as long as I have speed sharpening 3. I still like the way SnS played in MHGU more though, specifically oils. I just revisited that game and man oh man is chaos oil and shoryuken so satisfying to use.

    I think the Guard Slash is worth looking more into:
    - It can be combo'ed from most moves
    - You won't have to go out of position to avoid damage as you would have with rolls and backsteps
    - The followup Perfect Slash can come out faster as you can skip the Leaping Slash altogether
    - The followup doesn't only go straight up and doesn't use up wirebugs like Metsu Shoryugeki
    - There's no knockback if you happen to block something that can be countered
    - You can proc with Offensive Guard with it
    - If you happen to miss the timing, you would still end up in a Guard stance, so you're still relatively safe as long as it isn't an unblockable, or a multi-hit attack, or an attack that hits your flanks
    - You can play even more aggressively

    Ok so me not knowing the sns meta I built a set for this style, and it was iffy but still strong as hell. Then I looked up your solo videos set and looked and tried to rearrange my set to it. Then I looked at Anjanath Coil S and thought well how did he get so many skills on this set when Rathalos is easier to make. Well, that's when lvl 2 deco slots hit my mind and I struck a pog champ face as I realised the true glory of that piece of armor. I have every other piece of equipment save maybe a good talisman, so yeah I'm pretty happy. Your style feels so clean and I love it lmao. Needless to say, I've joined the Unga Bunga cult

    Man, I happened to stumble across this guide after watching Arekkz and Rurikhan. This guide really made me want to pick up SnS and I'm loving. Also liked that you condensed and simplified it. What Equipment Skills should I be going for?

    • @Dr_Philliam
      @Dr_Philliam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally love a guide to be less than 15 minutes! So I try to, as you say it, condense information :) And only the important one. E.g. in this case, the combos I didn't mention are not really worth using consistently, therefore I don't talk about it much.
      In terms of skills:
      Weakness Exploit > Attack Boost / Crit Boost ( mix of both ) > Critical Eye
      And if you get a good Wirebug Whisperer charm, you can use that!

      Specific ones? Not really, perhaps, once you got a good endgame set rocking, Wirebug Whisperer 3. Aside from that, just Weakness Exploit, Attack Boost, Crit Boost, Crit Eye

  • @PraiseChika
    @PraiseChika 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a pretty quick sharpness tip, most meta sets run speed sharpen 3 due to the level 1 decos so any time you want to sharpen just chuck a flash bomb from the radial menu and you're good

    • @Dr_Philliam
      @Dr_Philliam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still eats a lot of time though, which is important if you do take a look at the time spent! And flash bombs can end up being painful

    I'm actually playing elemental sns builds. It's probably less efficient than raw damage playstyle (sharpness issue, lack of stun and exhaust openings, lower damage?) but it's fun and I'm glad I have a reason to wear Utsushi's mask which looks badass. :)
    Windmill actually has lower multiplier for elemental (0.7) and status (0.5) damage but it's still a great skill and I prefer using it over Metsu Shoryugaki mainly for lower cooldown.
    It's actually quite easy to build decent mixed set with +7 Critical Eye, +7 Attack Boost, +5 Elemental Boost, +3 Razor Sharp, +1 Critical Element and 1-3 free lv1 sockets.
    Anyway pulling off Plunging Thrust > Drill Slash > Spinning Reaper > Windmill is very satisfying combo to land. :)

    • @Dr_Philliam
      @Dr_Philliam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Go enjoy that build, you're at least aware that it's not 100% optimal. As long as you're aware, nobody can give you shit. It's just that when other TH-camrs hint at it being the best and you truly believing it's the best when problems start to occur :)!

    So I'm a SnS noob this guide was very helpful thank you. It was very easy to pick up, managed to kill Kushala my first try with princess rapier. I was very passive though and want to become more aggressive with it.
    Two questions: can you achieve a perfect guard with the shield guard and what happens if you do?
    When guarding and you press a, your character does a side swipe with their sword and a blue...mist thing comes out of the shield.
    Is this elemental damage or something?

    • @Dr_Philliam
      @Dr_Philliam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching and commenting my man, glad it helped.
      For the first question: What do you mean by the perfect guard?
      2nd: It's a guard point. If you guard at the right time with it, you can chain it into the Perfect Rush. The issue, why this is never used, is because the block is so weak that 90% of all attacks will have too much knockback for the guard to work without skill investment. Which isn't worth it for such a casual interaction.

    • @jakey........
      @jakey........ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dr_Philliam Thanks for making the guide for us and for responding! I see what you're saying about the guard point being too weak. As for the perfect guard iirc there is a skill in the game that activates if you guard at the right time, i'm assuming right after an attack occurs. I forget what the skill is called I would have to log in to my game and look for it

      Protective Polish became a 3 point skill instead of 1 point and there's only one armor piece that offers a single point and nothing else. So you'd need a very specific charm for it to get to PP3. And you'd lose a lot of efficiency just to run PP3.

    You mentioned it a few times but whats the actual issue with elemental builds?
    Is it just that they are dealing less damage per hit or is it because of the sharpness management.

    • @Dr_Philliam
      @Dr_Philliam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you define an elemental build? Pure ele builds were never good on SnS, the one I'm referring to is raw focused with some side Ele, which I'll expect to become meta for SnS at some point. Sharpness management is huge as the sharpness drops lower your damage signifcantly.
      E.g. from Green to Blue (1.05 -> 1.20) you gain 12,5% damage and from Blue to White (1.20 -> 1.32) you gain 10% damage. Those don't count for ele, elemental has its own sharpness modifier but it's not as big as raw sharpness modifiers.
      Raw hybrid builds are definitely stronger in terms of damage, but you have to maintain that damage.

    • @donjean6590
      @donjean6590 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dr_Philliam hybrid since there has never been a pure elemental SnS. And the issue is what I suspect its always been. Keeping yourself at max sharpness.
      So if you arent pushing for fastest clear time it actually works out quiet well if you can reach the elemental cap without tanking your Raw and affinity. Shouldnt be too hard though since it takes 2-3 1 slot decos to reach that cap.
      Also it depends on how heavily you rely on shield attacks since those dont inflict elemental damage.
      There was a point in world where the numbers for elemental damage was so low that it never measured up to Raw builds. This is why I was asking.
