She’ll buff out mate… get a set of original side skirts, not cheap but they look the best. The cheap and nasty ones look crap in my opinion. So take the other side off. Also, premix!!! Even if it has stock OMP premix! If running stock OMP, you don’t need much… like 200ml per tank. The tanks around 70-80ltrs Good practise check oil every 2nd or 3rd fill up.
Thanks for showing this video to the people out there who don't believe in rotary reliability. She looks and sounds incredible so don't change anything especially in the engine, just cosmetic if you fancy different look.💙💯👌
@@tintin3g So.... It did something (to its limits) a standard piston engine could do without breaking a sweat. I don't see how that proves reliability.

Bro becareful of parking beside a road like that man, these truck drives ain't cappin abt hitting nothing, i met some a* hole saying hit anything don't slow down like a mutt.
In 2022 I purchased a '99 Type RS in NZ and drove more than 10000km in half a year as I was using it as a daily. I did not premix my fuel and used Mobil 98 Octane for 90% of the time, only serviced it once before selling it (had to do so because I tracked it a couple times prior). I used to carry a jerry can of mineral engine oil and a funnel no matter where I went, however the 7 never broke down within 9 months of ownership and she travelled through 13000km of NZ roads. A few friends called me a madman for wasting thousands of dollars on fuel and driving a car that they thought would breakdown within a month of ownership. I proved them wrong. Rotary/Wankel engines are not as unreliable as what most people think. Though I would say early RX8 models did have engine problems (thanks, Ford), the 13Bs or even the 12As that came with the 7's were absolutely amazing engines to have in your weekend fun car. However maintenance cost is quite high compared to your everyday Toyota's and Honda's as you have to top up your engine oil every 4000km (yeah not really changing oil since it will be close to empty by then). Now I am back again, with a different FD, and will try my best to never let her go.
I disagree. I did tune up's on time. I premixed, redline before turning it off after letting the car cool down. Even stayed on top of the thermostat changes if the temp seemed off. I lost an apex seal randomly while driving home from work on rotor housing 2. The car cranks up just fine but runs on half the engine. Wasn't boosting and no detonation event... just gone randomly. The car is a dream to die, don't get me wrong, but it will let you down eventually, and that is when you are most confident in it out of nowhere.
Im 52 and have owned many Rotaries and people that say they are unreliable is bs, make sure it has oil and water, keep it serviced and it will look after you.
Great stuff. Although washing the car right after a long drive is not recommended. Risk of warped discs and cracking engine plastics from the sudden temperature change
Its not unreliable. That myth is old and boring. They wouldnt have sold that well if they were unreliable. Ive had 2. Btw dont warm it up idling at standstill. Keep it below 4k and drive it slowly for 15 mins is better for lubricating and getting oil and stuff around
I think it was the door open and zorst fumes getting in that upset her. She would have appreciated a little Motul blended in the fumes. Stick to fuel it was tuned on, probs BP.98. Don't slow down from high revs on decel, push clutch in. I just start mine up and baby her till warmed up, saves plug fouling, in my case anyway. Little servo etiquette, if doing more than just grabbing a drink and paying for fuel and exiting, park up out of bowsers haha. All jokes aside, beautiful FD, nice purchase. They're not unreliable Clay... Just temperamental haha. Enjoy brother, welcome to the family.
Would suggest you take out the FEED side skirt entirely. It’s sitting on the OEM option skirts. So technically you’ve got a skirt on a skirt, that’s probably why the mounting’s not flush and flimsy. If you’re keen to run the FEED skirt you ought to remove the OEM side skirt. Still. Mad props driving it that far, thanks for showing people rotaries aren’t all bad 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Good choice of buy Clay. I have also got a big drive ahead of me today as well to Adelaide. That will also be going on to my TH-cam channel today as well. So you might want to look out for that, too, mate. Cheers mate from William.

I have found experimenting with my own toys that shell premium it’s the best gas. I will not throw bad comments on other brands but much of them use bs to boost the octane & I don’t like that. I stick with v-power nitro that have more cleaning agents that the other brands so your motor stays free of carbon residue. *Unless you using Sunoco which there octane goes 100 & up* but it gets expensive
Rx7 is literally probably the coolest jdm car ever. Its a shame that the rotary is so unreliable and you basically need to be a mechanic to own it lol. But apart from that the shape of the car is the most beautiful in existence, possibly of all time. The interior is so cool as well. I would even argue that it has more of a jet fighter cockpit feel even more that the supra because its so much more enclosed and tighter inside. The supra i would also say is probably one of the prettiest cars ever. But rx7 might just beat it for me. Truly it woule be a dream to have one.
Don’t worry about it being too cool remember getting her hotter and redlining you will burn that carbon off ! If you had an rx8 Renesis 13B you wouldn’t have any reliability issues 😂
