    Minor tip: Kleenex box for center console is used in the medical field (my career), so if searching for a tissue box for the center console look under medical suppliers. Perfect fit, as if it was designed for that exact size box. Also, fyi, I use the slim pocket to the front of the cupholder to store my EDC knife. (Used to avoid getting duck taped)

    I've been wanting a 4runner for a couple of years now. Our mechanic said their motor was the best hands down. And a better SUV than the Explorer, et al. My car just reached a point where they no longer make parts for it. So we started looking. I agreed to go cheaper and smaller, with the caveat that I would eventually get my 4runner. I ended up getting it! A 2016 Limited with 72235 miles on it. $29k. Which from what I've been seeing, was a phenomenal deal. I LOVE IT! I drive 1¼ hours to work every day, then back home. Around 45 miles each way. Just filled it up for the first time. Averaged 20 miles/gallon. I am so in love with all the space in it. The comfort. Everything! Can't wait for a road trip!

      👏🏻👏🏻 I love hearing testimonies like this one. I feel like it’s this awesome bargain hidden in plain sight. 20mpg is really good, I average the same with warmer weather. Thank you for sharing and watching!

      So we went on a road trip. Mileage was not as good as I had hoped. Partly because of construction and traffic. But also because we slept in it for a few hours with the AC on, lol. I will say, the front seats are extremely comfortable, even for that. My husband and I both slept fairly well laying them back. It was by far the most comfortable road trip we've had. Almost 2600 miles in a week. And my stepson, who is about 6'4" and 200 lbs, was also very comfortable in the back seat. All in all, so glad we got it!

      I bought my 2015 SR5 in 2018 with around 70,000 miles on it. Recently crossed over 200,000 miles with no issues. Absolutely LOVE it!
      Have owned Chevrolet trucks and a Suburban. IF they make it to 200k, they are leaking oil and coolant like crazy. These are consistent problems with those vehicles.
      I wish that Toyota would build a larger pickup truck. We are going to have to buy a new truck in the next year or so, and the only options we have for our needs are the big 3.

    I took a trip from Detroit to St.Louis and those grand trek tires made the trip nerve wracking. Drove back in a terrible wind and rain storm and was white knuckling it being passed by semis in the slow lane. Bf Goodrich ko2’s gave me no problem even driving in a foot of snow in Michigan’s upper peninsula.

      Dude I got a 2016 trail premium I love the stock rims and I put ko2’s on as well. It’s not practical for off-road but for the kids a set of I-armor steps we’re a must! Plus I’m a short guy and I didn’t want to eat the side of my seat away getting in and out.

    We had a 2011 4Runner and sold it with 200,000 miles. We bought a subaru outback. Kept it a year and bought a 2021 4Runner. Love them. Wife is a little disappointed with the power - especially when compared to the turbocharged subie. One "fix" will be adding a Hikeit throttle controller. That will change the throttle-by-wire profile to give more power with less input. Worked great on my Silverado.

    • @VikingsGarage
      @VikingsGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as the tire balancing machine is good and well calibrated you should have no problem. Often times your best bet is a tire shop, they usually have the latest and greatest. I’m personally just sticking to the one that comes stock on the TRD PRO (Nitto Grappler)

    Great review videos. One thing I just encountered with my 2020 was my back windows would not go up or down from the front switch. My main control switch was in the right position but windows did not work. I had to re program the windows by holding down the rear windows control switch for 4 seconds in the down position the another 4 seconds in the up position. Then they worked fine from the front control switch. I thought I had a real problem but it was an easy fix. Just thought I’d share.

    I’m on the fence about getting a 4runner or an FJ cruiser…I heard some common problems were the engine ticking, brake problems, rust. What do you think? Any experience with these problems?

    • @VikingsGarage
      @VikingsGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      FJ cruiser’s are great cars but they have their issues. I made 3 great videos on this :
      th-cam.com/video/ztq1xHn0iH0/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/GgBjPW110_k/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/iGQYeWFbSvE/w-d-xo.html
      As far the brakes it comes with the territory on both the 4runner and FJ, their front brakes are not the greatest. My best advice get a 2010 and later rust free that as all maintenance records. But please watch the videos I linked you first.
      Good luck!

      We just hit 50k miles on our 2020 4 runner TRDOR. I love this rig. I do some moderate off-road. Nothing crazy. Mine is stock except for the tires.
      I have had zero issues up to this point. It is my wife's DD and only does 10 miles round trip. I have kept track of the MPG and compared it to the computer calculations. The computer is about .5 of a mpg off. We average 18.3 MPG combined. We take it from central Utah to Idahofalls area quite a few times and normally get 21 mpg on those trips (on the freeway/highway at 70-80 MPH). We do not hot rod it around at all.
      If you have a family the back seating area is rather large. Fits car seats and diaper bags very easily. My daughter comments on how easy the car seat fits vs her Jeep Grand Cherokee (rear-facing car seat).
      What I don't like:
      I wish it had one more hear or was a little lower geared (tho would help when towing the trailer and off-roading). The trailer plug is tucked under the back bumper making it a pain to use. That's about it. Nothing big.
      All in all, it is solid. No issues so far. It does hunting, camping, tows a snowmobile trailer, and has a pretty good ride (will be swapping shocks soon). Having a rear window you can roll down allows me to haul stuff in the back quite often. Never really thought I would be that feature as much as I do.
      I like its “Old school” vibe and look.
      I hope this helps you make your decision. Good luck and be safe 🙂

    2024 has at least 14 cup holders. 3 on each front door. 2 on each back door. Two in the front center. Two on the back flip down. I haven't opened the third row yet to see what's there. I've only had the car three weeks. I can say that my prior car, Kia Borrego, you could see the two third row cupholders on the side walls, even when the seats were down. That 4runner third row must be rare. I haven't even seen it in a video. I'm going to go outside right now and take a look. It's insane that I haven't looked at it yet. Maybe Toyota charged me for a row that doesn't exist.

    If you want to become a bad ass with your 4Runner, install a TRD cold air kit. It'll make your engine sound like a powerful V-8. Now, if you want to become a bigger bad ass, like me, you can install a Borla cat- back exhaust system like I did on my 2021 4Runner Limited. Add a leveling kit and you're good to go. I had a tricked out 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport with a six foot box, and my wife said I should get rid of it for something with a bigger back seat. (Both my sons are over six foot tall) I bought, or should I say, I bought her the 4Runner and added the upgrades I wanted. Looks like she confiscated the 4Runner, so I will never get it back. BUT! The upside of it is that I now have permission to buy the Toyota Tundra TRD Limited to replace my F-150 King Ranch.
