Like others have said, this is the most authentic and genuinely helpful review I’ve come across for the ASD. It answered some nagging uncertainties I had about purchasing it that other reviews didn’t address. I saw your link for the single arm VESA mount, but would you mind sharing a link for the exact double mount you’re using on your desktop at 1:10? I watched quite a lot of reviews about Studio display since I ordered the same as yours on 21st Mar, and just receive it today. To be honest, your video is the most useful for a common customer to watch. Many daily using tips and guides, really very good ! Thank you for your good job again! Wish some more!

Excellent review! I've had a refurbished Studio Display ($1359) for a week connected with a 15" MacBook Air and I really love how it completes my overall desk setup and looks super clean too! Sick of burnt out USB-C hubs, excess wiring, stuff just deciding not to play nice with each other, external webcam and most definitely the wakeup delay w/ non-Apple displays! Finally said "screw it" and ordered one lol. All in all, yes it's not a cheap monitor but god damned if it does look and sound amazing and "it just works (tm)"! Super excited that it also just went on sale at Amazon for $1349 brand new too, so will swapping my refurb out for the brand new one (though never had any issues with Apple Refurbished products) as I can also get my 5% Amazon cash back. That makes this guy $1281.55 (No tax in NH - Live Free or Die lol) all in and I am absolutely content! Hoping to keep this display going for a very looooong time to use with the ever-rotating slate of MacBooks that come and go far more frequently as the upgrade bug comes haha. Also bought the $49.99/year AppleCare+ to ensure I don't have to cough up such a crazy amount of money again in the foreseeable future to get one of these. I've read online that AppleCare+ can potentially be used to cover the labor portion of the cost to have an Apple Store swap out your stand/VESA mount in the future should your needs change. Fortunately the base model tilt only stand suits my needs just fine for my desk setup!
Is the webcam honestly ok enough for like weekly zoom calls and stuff? Does it look presentable enough that you don't look like "the person with the cheap camera?"
@@PSBrathwaite I mean, it looks okay enough like it’s not insanely bad, just unusually crappy quality for an Apple product that costs that much. To be fair, I think my own video looks worse on my screen because it’s a large 27”… I don’t notice it on my wife’s laptop screen at all. Just seems to have a lot of noise and very slow automatic lighting adjustment.
Hi . I Really like your presentation and your edits. Can we expect a video of you studio tour and how you do edit and shoot videos. In the video at 5:20, when you show the gap b/w wall and monitor, How did you shoot the shot?. It's really amaging.
Hi, thanks! My flat is my studio, so every time I shoot something, I just move the stuff around and prepare the scene :) That shot was simply done by putting the table with the display as close to the wall as possible and then by placing a key light on the table, so it would highlight the gap.
I’ve recently used it in my Samsung Viewfinity S9 review. Check the webcams chapter here: th-cam.com/video/EgdOiYAwCbU/w-d-xo.html I like the angle. The quality is meh.
Subbed and liked . I just received my second vesa mount studio display today and forgot there’s no screws . I have an ergotron dual arm stored away from 12 years ago , and of course misplaced the screws if it came with any . Time to go shopping ,but I really like the thumb screws ,so I expect them to be unavailable in this one horse town where I live
Hi, thanks a lot for a great review - very detailed and covered a lot of important points! One thing you didn’t mention: how do you adjust the brightness when connected to a Windows machine? Or to to PlayStation? I’ve read somewhere that you’d need to adjust the brightness while connected to a Mac and then reconnect to the PC or PS - is that right? I’d like more details on it working with Windows please.
Thank you! So on PlayStation the control might be quite limited, so yes, setting up brightness elsewhere seems about right. On Windows however I would suggest to install the Monitorian app, it may help you to control the brightness from there.
Amazing video, very helpful review. At the start of the video you mentioned a double mount can also be used. Please share a link from Amazon UK where I can buy a good quality double mount which would hold this studio display as well as a new M2 MacBook Air with a 15 inches screen size. Thank you
Hi Alex - great review, thank you for making it. Hey if you use the studio displays in portrait mode, what is the effect on the video camera for conferencing? (Are there options to force a certain orientation?). Cheers.

One question I had't find an answer for: if you buy a VESA variation - can you later attach original stand to it? And wise versa - can I turn display with tilt + height stand into VESA ?
Nope. It’s a one-time choice. Confirmed it with Apple Customer Support Supervisor. The macrumours article that states otherwise is unfortunately wrong.
You can switch but it’s not cheap. Just did it at the Apple Store in Portland, Oregon. It’s $99 in labor plus the cost of the stand option you choose. Converted from Tilt Stand to VESA and the total was $218 ($99 in labor + $119). Took about a week. They ordered a backup new monitor in case in broke during the process. Definitely think VESA is the best option.
