Hello, fall! I think this is the perfect way to celebrate the change of seasons, a warm baked apple stuffed with cinnamon sweet goodness. Can't wait to see your photos when you make this one! xo - Lisa
Plan to make these for my nieces age 5 and 10 (I always add chocolate chips) today! They lost their mother in March and I find they really respond well to me making wonderful homey recipes when they visit! We eat together with the whole family (my kids/husband) and my elderly mom lives with me too! Bless everyone who reads this. Enjoy your life and the people in it 🍎🍏
Just tried making this in my air fryer/toaster oven. Came out great ! Was just missing whipped cream. I only cooked the apples for 30 min and they came out pretty soft.
We grew up on this for pudding every Sunday during autumn and winter. My mother always filled the core with raisins and brown sugar and served it with custard (from the packet). I will make this as I love your oat anything!!! Always tasty!
This is definitely a nostalgic recipe! Can't wait for you to try this version Dorothy 😊 Also, be sure to save a photo of your creation to enter my Facebook community group contest!
I made these tonight and they were so good. My friend was so surprised at the taste... i had to alter the recipe a bit. I used monk fruit and maple syrup in place of the coconut sugar. I also did not have pecans or raisins so i used dried cranberries and extra oats. It really was very delish and I will be making this a standard desert in my home.
I've made this today and all I did was half raisins and half dried cranberries, it was very delicious. Also substituted 2 packets of Turbinado sugar for the coconut sugar, it was perfect, especially since my boyfriend is a diabetic. Thank you for your delicious recipe.
Perfect timing! I bought apples to bake last week and then couldn’t find a recipe that I liked. I have loved every recipe of yours that I’ve made. Thank you!
I truly can’t wait to start using your recipes, I’m on a journey to start eating way healthier than I am now, and these are just amazing/great, thank you for these 🙏🥺❤️
These are ridiculously delicious! I just made them for my grandma and me and they are grandma approved! Even tough they can‘t reach the ones that my grandma always makes, they are really really good. And to be honest nothing can reach anyone‘s grandmas baking skills
That looks so good! I make baked apples too! I use pink lady apples and fill them with pecans and cherry pie filling mixed with caramel cinnamon nutmeg and brown sugar topped with butter and powdered sugar! I boil the apple cider before I pour it on the bottom of the pan and base it after they bake and serve with butter pecan Ice cream! Its sooo good!
We make these all the time! My French German Ancestors passed these down generation after generation and I'm still passing it along. They are healthy and delicious. Instead of putting apples in your oatmeal put oatmeal in your apples!
This is such a delicious looking recipe - I will be making this with our German apples. I will also link this to my son in law in England who has had a bumper harvest of apples this year - as he is working from home is now the home chef making tasty family meals for the family. You are always a good inspiration, healthy eating without the boredom.
Love your easy to follow steps. I really enjoy how quickly your recipes come together. Has anyone given you a Gold Medal yet. Thanks, going to make these tonight for 2022 New Year's Eve dinner.
Thank you for this great recipe. We have just finished eating it. Total acceptance and delight from all members of my family. I used walnuts, ghee and brown sugar, as I don't have coconut sugar here. Not too sweet, but very satisfying, with real vanilla ice-cream. A definite keeper.
Amazing! Glad to hear you and the kids enjoyed this recipe 😊 And if you ever get a chance, would greatly appreciate a review on the website. Thanks Janessa!
Made these today! This was delicious. I did my version of this tho. To make the filling I added raisins, dates, dried plums to a pot and added a splash of whiskey and a dash of water. I boiled it together for maybe two minutes. Turned off the heat and then I added half a teaspoon of bicarbonate soda. Left that to cool down. Then added chopped almonds, whole oats and a bit of butter. I prepared the apples as in the video. On top of the already stuffed apples I added crumble topping. Served this with chocolate icecream. Highly recommend making the recipe from the video or your own variation, like mine :)
Making these today! I just don't use nuts as both my oldest and I are highly allergic. Golden raisins are my favorite for this as well as dried cranberries.
You can omit the nuts if you'd like! And cranberries will taste just as good 😊 Hope you all enjoy this sweet treat and be sure to share on the Facebook Community Group to win a potential prize 😊
Was looking for baked apple recipe for my newly acquired air fryer. I like the way you prepared these and especially the filling. Plan to make these tomorrow and have one for my breakfast.
Me and my girlfriend Kate just watched this and LOVE IT! We can’t wait to make it. She is one of your biggest fans and has showed me so many of your videos! Keep it up with the tasty treats, we can’t wait for more!
Those look sooooo good! I can only imagine the smell ~drool~ I really need to buy some coconut sugar, thanks for the reminder. I'm hoping to bake this fall and winter. Thanks for another idea!
thank you sooooo very much. the only thing I did was added a bit of pumpkin pie spice and carved Jack O Lantern faces in the apple (a special Halloween treat. I also made extra "apple stuffing" and put it in a airtight container minus the butter so I can make extra stuffed apples in a breeze.
Once again, you knocked it out of the park! I just made an apple pie last week. Now, it's time to keep the ball rolling and try out this fabulous looking dessert :) Soooo, excited!
Wow, so glad to hear that! Can't wait for you to try this one - and don't forget to head on over to the Facebook community group to enter a special raffle if you make this recipe 😊
Hi Lisa! This recipe is perfect for the Fall season! I cannot wait to try this one! I appreciate that you have vegan options for this recipe! I was looking for a delicious cozy dessert, and I think I just found the perfect one! Thank you for sharing 🙏💞
Oh my 😍 my mouth is watering. I definitely have to do it tomorrow. I have vegan cinnamon ice cream in the freezer which will be perfect with this yummy stuffed apple 🍎.
These honey crisp apples look so tempting. That oatmeal mix looks so yummy. Wow these are definitely making it on my menu. I bet your house smells sooo good.
We have an even easier recipe in Portugal: just sugar and a cinnamon stick and they are done. Delicious! My dad did these for us all the time. We did chestnuts in the oven around this time too! Bitter sweet memories. How I wish he were still with us. I like your liquid trick. We didn’t use any liquid at all.
Hi Lisa. 🙋♀️ Is that your name? First time to find u on my You Tube feed tonite. Your baked chicken thighs recipe is what I saw 1st, then the sweet potatoes, now the baked apples. I eat healthy Keto. Was wondering what you would suggest to sweeten, in place of the coconut sugar? Thanx. From a new, impressed by your recipes, viewer. 👍 👏
Welcome to the Downshiftology community Raedena! In replacement of the coconut sugar, you can use either Erythritol or monk fruit if you're following keto 😊 Otherwise, you could also use brown sugar or maple syrup.
These are delicious, I do a similar version of these. However I was taught to use a strong tablespoon and flip it upside down and twist it around and pushing in and edged will remove the core.
Yes! You can pop them in the microwave or in the oven for a bit until they're warmed through. But I'd say fresh ones are the best if you're serving for guests 😊
I am definitely making this!!! I’m just hoping it’s not going to be too sweet with the raisins in it for me since I am hypoglycemic. Regardless I’m going to make them because they’re beautiful and for the aroma ! ❤️
I’d love to try this today!!! Air is crispy and I have some honey crisps on hand!! Anyone knows how could I reheat these if I made a batch and couldn’t finish? Or just want to have them for another day? Steam?
Hmmm...I have 4 giant Boskop apples (a favorite for baking in Germany, very firm, sour and flavorful) in the kitchen, waiting to be turned into baked goodness. Just wanted to make sure, I was remembering baking times and such correctly. We usually bake them 'with their caps on', so only a little stuffing (nuts and raisins) and then the cut off top part on top. But I think, I might try your oats/raisins/nuts filling instead. I can just imagine, how the oats will suck up all the flavorful liquid, being released.

In Germany this is a very traditional winter treat, we even have a christmas poem about it! 😂 It's called Bratapfel. 🍎
Just tried making this in my air fryer/toaster oven. Came out great ! Was just missing whipped cream. I only cooked the apples for 30 min and they came out pretty soft.
Good to know this came out in an air fryer! 🥰

This recipe looks devine! Question can they be baked and reheated later, lets say you one to make 3 times the amount of apples for a gathering?
Yes! You can pop them in the microwave or in the oven for a bit until they're warmed through. But I'd say fresh ones are the best if you're serving for guests 😊
