Love my Ateca Launch Edition. Soaks ups the bumps and pot holes perfectly on crappy country roads

Dude did you have it on Cupra mode the whole time or something? Put it on comfort for general driving. The car has adaptive dampers and my test drive was on terrible suburban streets and the ride comfort was *exceptional* for the class. The way the car drives is what made me decide to buy it. I know this might sound stupid but it has the steering feel and turn in of a sports car yet it's a practical little SUV!

    Great review. Thank you.
Shame about the interior and the infotainment glitches really are unacceptable for a brand new car, let alone one that costs north of $60k. Thanks for showing us the warts and all version.
Also loving the new video style. Seemingly a lot more laid back and injected with some personality, which I think had been missing at drive for some time.
That, or it might be just some Susannah sass! Either way, keep up the great work!

I'm wondering why the suspensions are so hard as this car has Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), hasn't it? So you should be able to configure the ride quality.

DCC does allow some adjustment, but only within a certain range, and in the case of the Ateca, which is positioned as a performance flagship and tuned as such, that range varies from firm, to firmer, to quite firm. There's no plush or soft-rising setting within its customisable range. It's also running bih wheels with low-profile tyres, so can't escape the impact that has on ride quality.

I can just see the Cupra execs sighing as the infotainment system reminds everyone about VW group infotainment gremlins 😂
More importantly is how does Susannah keep the child seat so clean? Within a week my smallest ones seat looks like a crime scene.
Formentor for me though, it has more road presence and the interior is easily a cut above.

    What did I miss
Must be just me these "new" "Spanish" Cupra's, look German like a VW. Nothing Spanish looking about it, inside or out. And they are charging more than what VW charge you, Brilliant! Brilliant decision.

What are the price differences over there?
In the UK the T-Roc R, which is probably VWs closest Cupra Ateca rival (and also less practical) starts at £42,155 and the Ateca starts at £41,380
If you’d compare it to a Tiguan R, that starts at £49,040

What's in a name? That which we call a Tiguan R
By any other name would smell as sweet.

Compared to the Formentor, to me this looks incredibly conventional and generic (therefore 'safe' I guess), especially that dashboard! Looks like from an older RAV 4 or any other basic SUV.
For the money give me the Formentor any day, even if it may not be as practical.
    Nice review btw👍.
