    We have a 140Kw Formentor V 4Drive (your V model) in Graphene Gray. We have the 'Agile Pack' (19' alloys, heated seats, auto parking, wireless charging) In September we travelled nearly 3000kms around NZ's South Island and managed a best economy of 6.2L/100km and a worst of 7.4L/100km. Travelling into town, about 18km, we consistently get mid - high 6L/100km and the motor is still freeing up as it seems easier to get the lower 6's now. If we hoof it a bit, then the figure drops markedly, like pretty much every other marque. I've not noticed any problem with the 19' wheels on our roads - yet. I couldn't justify the extra cost for the 200+Kw version as for less $$ I could have a Skoda Superb Scout with 206Kw and substantially more car. The specs between NZ and Aul Formentors are different - ours has electric boot. We don't get the 180Kw FWD in NZ. If we did, that's what I'd have gone for as it would be a good substitute for the Skoda Octavia VR.
    Great work and love the reviews.

    I’ve had the V for 3 weeks now and I love it. I personally couldn’t justify 12k for more power and the speeding tickets that would come with it. The fabric seats make more sense on the hot days in Oz for me and they are extremely supportive. I have been getting 5.9 to 7 litres per 100 kilometres so far on my trips to work and this is way more comfortable to drive than my Audi. It might not be an SUV in the true sense of the word and not as responsive as the VZX the but it is definitely a drivers car and in comfort mode a very comfortable cruiser.

    You guys are lucky in Australia with this 2.0L base engine. Here in Belgium the base engine is a 1.5l with 150 hp and 250 nm of torque !

    Incorrect that you can’t get 360 camera on the Formentor. I took delivery of my MY23 VZx in October and mine has it. I believe it’s the MY22 units that don’t get it, but I’m pretty sure they’d all be sold through by now so not an issue for a buyer today.

    Sounds a great car, if a little basic per your description. 6.7s 0-100kph isn’t hanging about. About on par with the old Clio RS 200 and Fiesta ST’s of 5 or so years ago. And it’ll ride better than either of them with the suspension and tyre package advises by you. Nice review.

    Compare the Cupra Formentor VZX to a T Roc R’s version.? Which ones should you guys choose.? I am torn between them two, the Cupra has a better and bigger looking while the T Roc’s are fully builder by Volkswagen and they had been around for years. We have no ideas if the Cupra is going to be a reliable car.? Any feedbacks and suggestions would be much appreciated..! Thanks heaps :(

    • @erikdejager
      @erikdejager 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Regarding the reliability of the Cupra, everything of that car is from the Volkswagen group. If you don't question the reliability of the T-Roc, there is no reason to question the reliability of the Cupra.
      I just traded on my T-Roc for a Formentor, one of the main reasons was space (Formentor is bigger), newer platform (MQB Evo) and a more interesting design and higher perceived quality (subjective)

      Was choosing between cupra and the troc aswell. I actually had a deposit on a Troc but as soon as i test drove the cupra. I called up VW and cancelled my order. More interior and boot space in the cupra compared the troc

    Several months ago, I tested the Cupra Formentor VZ and found the car was excellent as a driving machine. In addition to its competitive driving dynamics, the price was also good when judging with other non-European turbo cars. But the interior material was pretty basic, I have to say.

    • @chasingcars

    Sure, the VZx is more of a spectacle to drive, but where can you actually use all that power if you live in the city. Wanting AWD for the occasional outback trip, the V is a good offer. I’m picking mine up tomorrow, with the leather pack and sunroof to lift the interior to a higher level.

    • @djjezza
      @djjezza 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I live in Brisbane and find plenty of opportunity to use the power. I had a V for a few days as a loan and while it was zippy, it was noticeably less engaging and fun to drive. Even just cruising around from A to B in comfort mode the VZx has more driving character than the V.

    One remark about demonstrating the boot capacity: why is it so difficult for the reviewers to put that floor cover to the lower position? I watched hundreds of car videos and independently from the car manufacturer and type, just a small amount of reviewers can show the biggest boot capacity of the vehicles. Here, in this video this is true as well: it's possible to put the floor cover lower, thus you can gain more boot space. One disadvantage that the floor won't be straight when you fold down the rear seats, but who cares about this???

    Don't agree.
    I think this is a great entry level for this model. I really like the Formentor, but giving 70.000 for one, it's to much......yes...yes...yeah I know it has more power and stuff....but do I really need it?
    140kw it's plenty, and we can not race in Australia....
    I love the gear selector, sick of big gear knobs, has a high rider, and as the presenter said, feels like a hatch.
    Cool....the entry level is the thing...
    I might take in consideration the criticism to the seats....better try them. Otherwise, the extra 2.000 dollars will do a better job for auto adjust and leather

    I am a huge Volt head but my friends are not ready for EVs apparently. I want to make sure they don't buy a Toyota or Mazda hybrid because they are holding back the EV transition. While companies like Hyundai, Kia and Cupra and Volvo are using them to fund the jump to full electrification over time. Honda errrr are frantically trying to catch up.

    I've test-driven three versions of the Formentor and although I liked the VZx the best, I think I'd buy the mid-range specification, offering a balance of features and price. :: Also, hearing the presenter (who seems to be younger than me) refer to the practicality of having children use the rear seats (if we pretend they are his own children), then that makes me feel old. If he is referring to anyone's children in general, then, that still makes me feel old... as the thought of people younger than me already having children aged 5 to 9, .... grrr, .... well, I'm blessed not to have any and not be paying school fees.

      The wife and I had a VZ for a weekend while waiting for our VZx to arrive. We took it to the Barossa Valley in Adelaide (low on wine) and I must say it was really nice to drive, that 180kw engine is quick without being break neck. But I still love my VZx more, other than the obvious 4.9 sec 0-100 I find the petrol blue interior lifts the entire interior experience.
