- Everyone's got their way of decorating at Christmas time. Some like simple and sweet, others like it gigantic and gaudy. But one Nashville, TN couple says the more the better when it comes to those Dept. 56 houses. So much so, they had to buy another house, just to have a place to put them. I love love her collection and best of all...her accepting and sweet husband!! I would just love to go by and visit her home display! Her husband was hilarious when he said she is crazy...he said it with love!

That is simply amazing. I want to build my own village someday, and I already have the center piece - a simple Nativity scene with a star that lights up. Everything else will be worked around that, since Jesus is the most important reason for Christmas in the first place.

Just brilliant 👏 i used to go to New York for a holiday around November / December..but really to buy some ...prop's of Dept 56, ha ! 😁A great city ''The Big Apple'' Ñ.Y🍎 i used to hunt all over street's to 'Macy's Department store, 34st Street, & etc where ever?? Hallmarks', to off 7th Ave... lookin for places who solded this wonderful product. I knew the shops & department stores) It did take over my special interest for this wonderful hobby for Dept 56?? but i was still careful how much Dollar's i spent? ((EXPENSIVE)) I have been collecting this since the early 90tees to 2018. Different 🌎 were all living in now...but still nice to look back and have dfferent distractions in January 2021.. We all need something badly for our minds. 🙏

Beautiful village! I started mine 37 years ago, I had 7 houses and a few accessories, but too expensive to keep up, I bet your investment is close to 10 thousand, really impressive, I enjoyed it a lot thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas 2018!!

just look up dept 56 or Lemax houses on ebay
2023 now ... I hope these people are still kicking around and that their display is still up. If I was a relative and they willed their collection to me ... I'd keep it and put it on display have people (neighbours) come over and see it and remember their former owners.

Looks great. I have a lot of Halloween villages buildings and accessories as well as Christmas village items. What I don’t have is anyone to help me set everything up for over 8 years. Most of family is dead and I have a bad back. I have nieces and nephews but they have no interest in any of it. Kids today just don’t know what they are missing out on. When i was a kid I would of loved for one of my family members to have tons of Christmas and Halloween village display building with all the great accessories. But that never happened so I guess I’ll just feed myself to the lions sometime within the next couple months🦁😈🦁
What you wrote really moved me. I’m so sorry! My cousins and I used to being our friends by to see our grandparents’ display. It wasn’t a huge display, just enough to go around the bottom of a large Christmas tree, but not everyone sets up a village so our many guests loved it. Once Grandma and Grandpa aged, many of my cousins who stayed local continued to help them set up and tear down. I hope my cousins who were able to help get to inherit these special pieces. So many beautiful Christmas memories. Sadly, many people don’t decorate like they used to.
I’m hoping to buy my own someday for my family to enjoy. I have a 19 month old and another baby on the way. I’m excited for future Christmases because I love to decorate and have company over to share my cooking with.
I’m surprised their Christmas trees aren’t made out of aluminum complete with its accompanying vintage colour wheel XD

Just leave it up all year round!!! Y would U spend 8 months every year setting it up and taking it down
