Broo I see my friend in this video (he plays guitar) and man am I so proud of him. Our high school band teacher inspired so many of his students to follow their passion (he serves part time in the Guam Army National Guard while being a band director) and he's been a huge inspiration not only to me, but to a lot of musicians around Guam. I've been wanting to serve my island and country through music for about 5 years now. I will be scheduling to take my ASVAB in the next couple of months (hopefully) and I'm ready to work hard to become a musician in the US Army. Woohoo! 🇺🇸🎶🇬🇺
Ayeee Guam mention !! I’m about to leave for BCT/AIT and am part of the GUARNG. Not 42R, am 68W but I definitely wouldn’t be complaining if I was 42R 😁
My CO laughed at me for choosing 19D over 42R after he heard me playing the Trumpet and Piano when I lived in the barracks..... Two weeks later I was on Funeral Detail as the bugle horn player and he laughed at me again.
Intrigued by the thought of playing bass or running sound for the military. Steady income instead of gig work plus benefits and structure. Seems like a good deal, for all that i spent at a music school that i fear is going to waste. Can't read music to save my life though. :/
all of this sounds so exciting but do you have to audition to get in? Is there a way I can go to boot camp and learn as I go? I am amature with the guitar and piano and singing... These skills I want to advance in but I wont be able to join if I cant perform what they want in the audition and that sucks...
If I zero in music but willing to learn, can I still apply for this MOS ? Because I saw in the video that i have to audition to get in and I don’t know how to play any instruments !
Go to the Army's website on the 42R MOS. They prefer players with a bachelor's or higher in music performance, and you must pass the audition. Are you in school?
I didn't know the ARMY band were so varied. What a cool way to serve if music is your thing.
yes if the music is your thing and you want to be a soldier, you can not be more happier about it...
Airborne and playing 🤣 imagine jumping out of a plane while playing a guitar!

I know who you’re talking about. I graduated with him, great guy.
So how'd it go?

@@lilal8848 yeah I'm curious too it's been years hopefully they took the ASVAB and followed their dreams!
30+ years doing this with the US Army. It's legit, and the musicians are top notch.
This MOS is awesome!
I stil prefer blowing stuff up, tho.
As a soldier I really appreciated the Army band.
Watching from the army school of music. Great program!!! Can't wait to get to my duty station in August
Where did you get stationed?
@@professionalfangster1510 I’m headed to the Hawaiian Islands!

The rock band came to my high school today, it was so cool. Plus I got out of honors English and part of bio med.

Must be a dream job.
The army gotta have people to boost their attack damage percentages yk
What do musicians do all day on base while stationed ??
They god hard tbh
Do I still have to pull SD and be on SGM detail though?
I played with a lot of guys from Berkley school of music that joined. So these aren’t off the street musicians.
Currently waiting on my thumbs up if I'm accepted or not haha
Were you?
Did you
its Julliard with PT
I wanna be a vocalist not no musician I can't play no instrument at all
The Army has slots for vocalists, talk to your local recruiter.

02:17 they say it right there. Yes you have to audition.
Yes you have to audition first. I just had my audition on bass guitar and I was accepted! I leave for basic training in January.
Awesome! You need anything let me know. Welcome from a fellow bass player!
@@YaYaMoAffetuoso How long did it take to prepare? How long did it take to get the thumbs up to enlist?

You don't need school for those skills.
How much time they have with basic combat training?
11 weeks I believe check army strong site
all basic training is the same 10 weeks no matter the MOS unless maybe they have OSUT
In ordrer to be an Army Musician, don't one have to know how to play an instrument, before entering the Army?
I went to basic with a guy with this MOS in 1993.
What the hell is that at 1:08 ? That Bandmaster should be fired for running a high school band.
You're misunderstanding what you're seeing.
Wtf haha
is this a joke ?
Nope :) I'm switching my MOS to this
Phil The Thot Destroyer Nope. Been in this MOS 15 years.
Why it should be a joke. There are so many military bands in the world.
"yeah i was in the military" what did you do? "was in a band" lol
