    I thought these 4g92s are high comp motors. Youve got balls turboing it 👍

      Hi, yes it has high static compression ratio (10.0/1). Still using factory cams, adding moderate boost with a good ignition map (I developed the fitting ignition and fuel maps myself) and using RON100 fuel is not a problem. The problem with this engine are the weak rods :(... you exceed 200Nm torque and disaster is about to happen any time... And this is not a Honda.. you cannot buy cheap forged internals for 4g92 in every local store haha :D..

    Hey man. I have a 4g92 dohc mivec, i was wondering if turboing it makes it more unreliable 😂 I just wanted those noise that a turboed car makes. Not really opting for some huge boost

    Hey nice project , what did you modified? Did you left the internals stock and only put a turbo and an megasquirt? how many bars is it doing?

    • @laszlovona
      @laszlovona  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +RSkPT Hi, stock internals, stock CR (10:1). I am only boosting, 0.45-0.5 Bar. Peak power was 170whp.
      I am cautious with timing, and fuel (using 99octane). So basically "only" turbo and Megasquirt :). (Large injectors, walbro FP, intercooler, wasted spark, boost control etc.. of course)

    Hello friend, I also want to install a turbo on my 2016 Lancer 1.6cc 4A92 and I only want to give it 0.5 bar, they tell me to lower the compression ratio and the ideal is 9.5.1 and mine has 11.0.1, will you know what thickness of gasket I can install it to lower that compression and it is necessary, could you help me :(

  • @ReginiAlejo
    @ReginiAlejo 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    hey man do you know how much psi support the 4g92 1.6 16v standard !!???

    • @laszlovona
      @laszlovona  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi standard? that would be 0psi, since it is NA. haha, just joking 😉 I used to run it on stock internals+ compression at 6-7 psi for 1000s of kms, and beat the sh*t out of it, without any problem. Of course I always used good quality RON100 fuel and sensible timing on ignition.
      But you never know when the rods just say, they had enough 😀. It can happen sooner or later. I would never bring this car to track with stock rods+pistons... take care!

  • @StanleyKubick1

    Can I ask, why did you decide to boost instead of just bolting on a Mivec cylinder head? I have a SOHC 4G92 as well, and am looking for a DOHC or Mivec head to throw on it, but I can only find them in Malaysia, lol.

    • @laszlovona
      @laszlovona  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly... even a 4g93 or 4g92 DOHC head is literally impossible to find in Europe.. let alone a MIVEC... no way..I realized this back in 2014 and went the turbo way. I had no prior knowledge in this subject and it was way harder to build this from the scratch, than a simpler NA mod, especially building, programming the standalone ECU for a usable/strong setup. But it was fun learning it on the way, and the result is epic, compared to the original SOHC.. 😀
      edit: it dynoed 180whp and it was even more fun to see the people's face who also had no knowledge, but instead of doing this, they were rather making excuses, that this engine cannot be boosted, it will break, bla bla..

      @@laszlovona Amazing, congratulations man, I just bought a 4g92 myself, can I ask what was the mileage of the car when you went turbo? mine has already 237.000km on it, dont know if its much for this engines..

    • @laszlovona
      @laszlovona  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mateomoralli1907 Hi my friend, thanks for checking this out. My engine had a bit more than 220tkm on the clock when I started the build, but it was like new. It was a very well maintained car with service history. Since then it was beaten quite few times (7-8 psi boost), but still in a good shape. I have an oil catch can and it is actually dry.. Even the crankcase ventillation hoses are very clean. Of course you cannot foresee when a rod will have enough, or the combustion will be too hot for the piston..these 4g92 do not have oil squirter for cooling the pistons.. So in a nutshell, these old engines are very well built, and with a proper ecu/tune can withstand some mild boost..

      Hi, This project took ~2 years to complete step-by-step, (learning, iterating, fabricating, finding solutions) and not something I can provide a recipe/detailed docs for, so I can only give you advice here:
      If you want to do it, make a plan, allocate cost/time, and start step-by-step, and make sure you enjoy it. (if you have any specific question related to details, I am here to answer. I am happy to share my experience with fellow tuners on YT:) cheers.

    4g92A is applicable for turbo installation?

    • @laszlovona
      @laszlovona  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I do not know the difference between 4g92/4g92a. However, 4g92 is a relatively high compression engine with not forged internals. By the book, this means it should not be boosted :) But if you know the engines limit, use good fuel, and carefully tune it, you can build this ~180whp. Which is loads of fun ;)
